Ive been into cars all my life...

Ive owned alot of different rides muscle cars, sports cars , econoboxes, luxury sedans, import and domestic. Ive enjoyed and hated alot of different cars.

Its just that lately the whole import vs. domestic, nitrous vs. turbo, honda vs. nissan, fwd vs. rwd has gotten out of hand.

But the import vs. dom is by far the worst.

I think a fast car is a fast car, no matter how you get there.

I currently own an import, but i dont hate on Vettes, Stangs, Camaros, Mitsus....maybe i rattle the Honda guys a little.

I just see the domestic guys especially just talking down about imports alll the time. Did they maybe get beat by one? Is that why all the anger?

Id like to hear from the nissan community, about what they think.

I know this is not an earth shaking thread, just letting off some steam.Do you hate Domestics if you drive an import or vice versa?

I like all types of rides, excluding the riced ones. Those are obnoxious. But I love camaro's, firebirds, mustangs, all old classic muscle cars, etc etc. I dont really care what kind of car it is *much*. I personally dont really like the new srt-4's, but they are fast as crap, which I love about them. But I'm an equal car company lover.

I would love a 69 z28 camaro... hugger orange with black stripes:D a mechanic at work has a fully restored (and race modified) one that runs low 10's off the bottle... he hasn't even run it on the bottle yet!

Who cares who made the car as long as its clean and fast:)

i tend to like the imports more. why? my family has owned a couple fords and they've been nothing but trouble. but besides that i like how most imports have much smaller engines than the domestic sports cars. in my mind making a 2 litre engine import just as fast as a 5 litre domestic is kinda like a challange and it has something to prove. i also think more respect is given to someone who can make a economy car extremly fast. plus imports tend to focus on overall performance such as good handling and a nice chasis. there are some domestics out there that i like but for the most part i enjoy imports more.

My first love of cars fell with the lx 5.0 hatchback mustangs. I've always wanted one and that was the first car I really wanted. Eventually I got into 240's and thats how I acquired mine. Now, someday I want to own either a M3, Z06 or SRT-4. Of those three cars, I would most want to have the Z06. Something about corvettes that just gets me goin.

I like all types of cars. But, I do hate on certain types. Mostly domestics. Everyone I have ever owned have not been able to with stand the punishment I can dish out. Where as my imports do. I still like American muscle cars, just prefer J-rods.

And hey, if we didn't have something to debate we would all be bored.

it's hard for me to really view any type of car as crap, I try to see a purpose for them all to serve.

I like to aggravate owners of the H as well though, I have a right to! I owned one!

I kinda love the hype with import vs domestic because when u can beat a 5.0 or a vette its quite a feeling. But I dont hate on domestics I hate when domestics say the most bullsh*t stuff, like u hafta put 5 grand into ur car to be as fast as me, when in actuallity if 5 grand plus cost of my car is half as much as they spent on their car. I love honda vs nissan cause nissan owns the import scene, the least riced out cars, rwd, an when u hear nissan its power. Example-712hp 400ftlbs torque on civic, where as nissan-390hp 400ftlbs torque. An what civic can slam second an start fish tailing haha.

The c5 guys are the worst. They have a superiority complex.

My buddy beats them in his 03 cobra and they hate it.

Wait till I spank them next year.:pface

If I could have afforded it, I would have built a domestic. The problem is that to build a domestic the way I would have wanted would have cost a LOT of money and to build my 240 almost the way I wanted it hasn't cost me nearly as much and will be quick enough to entertain me for a while.

I like all kinds of cars, though I tend to avoid most Hondas and some domestics (like anything made by Dodge that doesn't start in "VIP" and end in "ER GTS"). I love old mustang fastbacks, Stringray and 80s Vettes, et al. Heck, I even like some Civics when tastefully done (though I never have like the hatchbacks that seem to be so popular). I have opinions on many cars, though brand or country of origin is not always a determining factor.

Is a big deal to everyone. I said in past posts, I dig all cars, all styles and all tuning.

I'm not into the rivalries of FF vs RWD or vs AWD. Or Nissan vs honda or vw vs honda, imports vs domestics or even the jdm vs "rice".

the one thing that I learned from going to Japan and talking to my friends there, there is a profound aspect of respect. Its in the culture to be respectful. something I believe this "import/sport compact car scene" needs. My friends there have awesome cars (look on my page) but they dont say" your car is rice because is FF" or " my car is better than yours because its fully done".In fact, my friends are actually interested in the "car scene" here as far as car shows go. The like the conversions and abundance of parts.

Of course, people have what they think is rice. Yeah, there are bad cars out there, but just cuz they got "altezzas or a aluminum wing" shouldnt be judged as rice. Those things are big in Japan and Europe. I believe in modding a car. If you hook up your car to what you like it to be, then thats your car. And if people hate, then thats their fault.

dont flame, i'm speaking what i think just like some of you that have more negative comments.

keepin the peace! Yeah feel you on the rice thing though man. Don't get why getting an aluminum gt spoiler is considered rice. There are plenty of uses for them (yes even in drifting where Best Motoring had an FD enter a turn with and without a spoiler and with the spoiler was much more stable entering than without). The lights ok I admit that can be argued and is purely a matter of taste but if it's part of the owners vision of what their car should look like then it's not our place to be saying anything because it's not our car and so it doesn't fit your vision of what your car should be like. If we all had the same vision for what a car looked like (in terms of mods) then wouldn't that be viewed as "rice"? Also I don't like the term "rice" as it's derogatory and has a stink of racial stereotyping to it. American cars can be "riced" out as well, but why the reference to a food that Asians commonly eat at every meal? Personally I don't think that term should be used for it's racial stereotyping and the negative connotations associated with the term.

gettin one, like nismodave said, on a car that its not even going to be useful on and then the owner saying its useful is rice.

example: kid at my school, has a 95 civic ex, his mods are....

carbon fiber hoodintakemuffler(big)rimslowered(probly cut spring:rolleyes )

he just recently bought an aluminum wing for the back, i mean its at least 3' tall, and he tellin people at school......"it works, you can like feel the aerodynamics..." <--thats what he said:oface

well, people do get them for style right?

I mean, i've seen a guy with a 240 with an aluminum wing with nothing done to his car.

on any car that goes at high speeds, you will feel the down force from a aluminum wing or a fiberglass wing.

And I've seen a best motoring video done on the civic type r in track racing, with an aluminum wing it gives down force in turns, but when he did a track run without it, he lost down force, which he spun out on a hard turn.

but plainly, people get em for style. Its done to many cars, honda or nissan or toyota or mazda.

When i first started hookin up my car, the term rice didnt mean a crappy car, it meant a Japanese car. Asians eat rice, an asian made car was called a "rice rocket" or "rice burner".people used to have these powered by rice stickers or got rice stickers.

if you look at all the rice pages, usually its guys that own domestics poking fun at imports (mainly) and the cars that try to be like them. Now anything that people dont like can be rice. "Hey that guy with the 240 has nismo body graphics and nothing nismo, his car is rice."

everyone has their own style when it comes building a car.

your honda civic ex guy might make some dumb *** comments, which is what you get from people that dont know much, but having an aluminum wing doesnt say you have to have 400 hp monster. I think its more a style choice than a "performance" mod. True an aluminum wing might be more helpful on a RWD car, but like i said, its the dude's car, i aint gonna trip on that. I wouldnt trip on you if you did that to a stock 240.

laugh all you guys want and call it rice if you like but I'll be dead honest in saying that I have an aluminum "wing" on my 240 and the reason for it was because at about 90mph I could feel the back end "floating". That I did not like. I got the wing and put it on and I definatally (sp?) felt a differance. No more floating going on.

jjns13 - I aint hating on an aluminum wing, I was just sayin if people get it, they shouldnt be a target because they have it.

Good that it works, and as i stated it works on every car.

I think its great that people spend money on there cars instead of drugs or booze. I never tell a guy his car looks like garbage if he puts his time and $ into it. I might think it.

Style is a matter of opinion.

I have half the people that look at my car say it needs a wing, and the other half say it looks good clean.

All car owners have a right to do what they like.

I have a right to think it looks good or bad.
