All it takes is one deranged psycho to make a completely warm environment goto waste. If the wrong idea gets out about the promotion of gun usage on campus, a lot worse things are going to happen. VT made a good choice with the gun free zone. Tell me how many other gun related incidents happened there?

Well, following your "Diahrrea of Maturity", I did say, "I haven't read up on this at all." I also focused my point of veiw with, "if your in a 2 ton killing machine(a car) threatening me, I will do whatever it takes to kill the threat"...that would include a 100 round drum through a 249 SAW if neccessary.

BTW, I never said the guy was guilty or deserved to die, I said "I haven't read up on this at all." So before you go telling someone what to do, read wtf they said...

And this isn't a "worldview" situation, it happened in America...to Americans, right?(maybe wrong?)

My view is "skewed"? More personal judgement, thx.

Do I really care about what happened in NYC? No. Just like you pointed out, I live in Tulsa. Is this the first crooked cop shooting incident? Hell no. It does deserve special attention of course...1 screwed up cop might lead you to another.

But to say, "I hate cops"....well that just puts you in a mentality to get shot by one. A police force is neccessary. And to pass judgement on all of them is SERIOUS IGNORANCE.

How many people have been saved by police? How many people would be dead? How many family's lives would be ruined?

Nobody is perfect, otherwise we wouldn't need police. Or a government for that matter. But humans are garunteed to fail, it's in our design.

I don't think it's right to kill innocents, if you think I do?....But when you say "unarmed sean bells car" it doesn't make sense to me. I wasn't at the crime scene, so I don't know what happened or what didn't. Neither do you, all you know is what the media has shown us right? My point is that a car is considered a killing machine in my book.

To prove my point, a couple months ago outside a bar in Tulsa, about 5 people from the bar were outside. They noticed someone had passed out in the street. Of these 5 people one is a friend of mine. They go to pick this person up and out of the street. Guess what, a drunk from the same damn bar drives and runs over 4 of the 5 people helping this person off the road. The person that was laying on the road, along with 4 of the 5 people helping this person are all dead now. Luckily my friend was holding the passed out persons feet, and didn't get hit.

Just now a couple friends of mine walked in and told me the guy wasn't even in his car when he was shot at. So that blows my whole "car as a weapon" thing out of the water.

To end this, maybe nyc cops are all crooked, that doesn't mean the rest of the country's cops are. Our job as citizens is to be, outside of our personal rights, submissive to our police force. I'm not defending trigger happy cops, but if a police officer has a gun pointed at me...the only thing I'm reaching for is the sky. Would you think about that if your drunk coming out of a night club? That's something to think about.

In the future, realize that one, or even many peoples actions within a group, does not mean that all others in that group will act in the same manner....

Why does it matter how many other gun related incidents happened there? Just like you said, all it takes is one deranged psycho to make a completely warm environment goto waste. You would flip a coin everyday to see if luck is in your favor? I don't stake my life on luck.

If you don't educate people about guns, of course bad things can happen.

People are dead because VT made "a good choice with the gun free zone."

How can you read that and not understand, PEOPLE ARE DEAD BECAUSE NO ONE HAD A MEANS TO DEFEND THEMSELF.

I don't have the facts to back this, but didn't another Virginia campus decide to not have a "gun free" zone? And didn't they have a psycho come in with a gun ready to kill people? And if I heard right, no one died...because someone else had a gun and stopped the mad man. I'm sure no one heard of this because no one died, therefore, it didn't make headlines...

It's rediculous to think that by disarming law abiding citizens that we will be safer. Criminals don't care about the law. They will get whatever they need to overcome law abiding citizens to get what they want. And a gun just so happens to be one of the best ways of doing that. So by taking guns away from the good guys, you give the bad guys that much more opportunity to do WHATEVER THEY WANT with us. Think about your family when you read that...think about your children, whether you've had them yet or not.

To think we can all live in peace in the world, even after 8,000 years of recorded history without peace....wow, you're a greater man than I.

"if you don't give the police any reason to shoot you...then why would they shoot you?!?!"

Ignorant statement #1

"I haven't read up on it at all"

Ignorant statement #2

All the more reason not to comment on it!

regarding my worldview statement, if indeed you have been born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, then indeed your worldview is skewed. The fact that you even made ignorant statement #1 lets me kow you are completely clueless as to the DAILY episodes of racial profiling and police brutality that occur all over the country. Having been a victim of racial pofiling on a NUMBER of occasions, you're damn right I hate police. I've explained my reasons on a previous post, and its not worth my time to rehash all of that, but suffiice to say, A LOT of police profile young black men as all being delinquent thugs, and in return young black men profile Police as being ignorant, racist power abusing criminals with badges! Neither of them are correct, but the blind hatred on both sides continues. Its a cycle,....profiling leads to hatred, which leads to mean mugs and ice grills of cops, which leads to more profiling!

woo hoo. 600 extra bucks!!! or 900 as my daughter is a dependent!!!! even better. OR NOT

well, some of us are sh*t outta luck. if YOU grossed more than $75,000 or $150,000 and JOINT filed in 2007 you get nothing except the pleasure of knowing that the less fortunate will be spending their $600 to jump start our economy that already can't afford fuel in a country that's in major war debt (that's growing daily) and is barrowing money from a communist country. .

just seems a little weird to me.

But no one can be the better man huh? Yah, I'm white, yah I've got black friends. A few of my black friends have been arrested, and many have been put in cuffs just to be let go. The ones put in cuffs just to be let go are the better men.

Yes, I know about racial profiling. You wanna know something, all forms of profiling are the same. Including you profiling me because I was born and raised in Tulsa. Guess what, I get that alot from people in california. Do you even know where that started?

Regardless of that though, we all have a right to free speech(in America anyways). What I find ironic is that you continually mention my "ignorant" statements; but you use the same profiling, to guess at what kind of person I am, that you detest so much from cops.

I guess I'll keep my blessing of ignorance, if you keep your curse of Hipocracy.

My last word, and I'm done... I'm not guessing what kind of person you are... you made a very ignorant and closeminded statement "if you don't give police a reason to shoot you, why would they"

that statement alone says more about you and your worldview than any assumption I could have made. And like it or not, you live in the middle of nowhere, and most folks that live in the middle of nowhere are clueless as to what goes on in real cities across the country. I'm done with this...

Alright, I'm gonna quote Charles Swindoll. Not because I think it's a good retort. Or because you've obviously decided that I'm to stupid to hold an intelligent conversation based on a couple comments I made and where I live. It goes like this:

Attitude"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our Attitudes."

I've given you this quote because I hope one day when a crooked cop draws a gun on you, you will realize the only thing you can do to make the situation better is to have a good attitude. I hope it saves your life...I hope it saves your friends lives.

Hell, just having a good attitude might not save you, but starting right now may keep you from ever being in that kind of situation.

I hope if anyone else is reading this they will understand that I'm not posting to make this guy look stupid. I'm trying to bring some understanding to the table. Yah, I made an ignorant comment about a situation I really didn't know much about. But if you actually read what I said, I wasn't talking about that incident at all, but rather the circumstances a police officer has to be aware of to protect his life and others. Hopefully someone will understand.

/back on topic...can't wait for my cash...bleh...

No, I guess I can't let this go. Do you not realize how stupid you are for saying that? I mean, seriously, over 600,000 people in Tulsa and it's "the middle of nowhere"?! In today's information age everyone that's not in a big city is clueless?!

Maybe your "worldview" and you life in the "big city" has blinded you from reality.

I'm sorry, I tried not to stoop to your level. I'll call this an Epic Fail on my part.

OK now kids, can't we just all get along?!

Rob hates me!

maxentropy, G19 and G26.

And yes, we definitely need a Democrat in office! How Bush got re-elected is way beyond me Historically, when a Republican is in office, our country's GDP goes down the drain, while the exact opposite holds true when a Dem is in office.

So how's the weather in SoCal and Oklahoma anyway?

And how are them Mets?

Where's my stimulus money?

Goodnight!

you're right, let's continue, I like having conversations with ignorant people, its a good form of entertainment for me..

according to the 2000 census, your population was 393,000... given death and birth rates, accounting for people moving to real cities and moving away from real cities to Tulsa, over 8 years, the 17,000 per year increase brings the population to about 529,000 people, give or take a few thousand... that means you're a few decades off from being considered a metropolitan city (1,000,000). Its ok, I grew up in Jacksonviulle, FL which is by my consideration a podunk town full of ignorant racists, klan, and country folk alike, so I'm familar with the thinking of people that have never lived in a real city.

You admitted that you made some ignorant statements... based partly on incomplete understanding of the situation, but also clearly based on a limited worldview of the kinds of things that happen in real cities. That statement alone let me know you weren't familar with the widely publicized and criticized Amado Diallo case, which further proves my point of you being out of touch with reality.

So now I will get a bit ignorant....

go back to your podunk town and go bowling, or hunting, or chasing chickens, or do whatever it is that ya'll do in Tulsa, and leave the discussion of real world situations to the intelligent adults.

I attend one of the top medical schools in the world my fiend, so my intelligence is not at qustion here, what is at question, however, is whether you understand what goes on outside of Tulsa "nowhere" oklahoma, and its obvious from your ignorance regarding these two widely publicized issues of police brutality that you are clueless in that realm.

Next time we have a discussion about catching chickens on farms, we'll shoot you an email and invite you back over to the forum. Until then, go do what you do!

naww Eric, you';re cool, you're not a pig anymore! Please don't take offense to that, my Dad was the chief of police and after he retired I tell him the same thing.... trust me Eric, if you've walked in my shoes, you'd HATE cops too ...

As I said before its a horrible cycle... Cops see ignirant young black men doing stupid $hit everyday, so naturally, when they see me, they don't see a highly educated brother working on two terminal degrees, and that's understandable... but its still f*cked up that I get lumped into the category of the restof these ignorant lawbreaking thugs when I'm far from it... but that's just the way it is.

I didn't always use to be thi way, and there was a time when I gave cops the benefit of the doubt... but that was a long time ago, and many many random searches, random pull overs, you fit the description of, having guns pointed at my face, and general harassment by police,... times ago

They profile us, and we're supposed to keep smiling and dancing for them, and being nice, and being understanding of that kind of profiling????... F*ck that!!!

hahahaha someone was thirsty for that hate-o-rade today!

Ill bring up this experience i had as a 13 yr old... on the ferry from staten island (my hometown, along with the Wu-Tang clan lol)...

I was with my mom and there was some XYZ religious woman(around 20 yrs old) handing out flyers and talking to people about XYZ jesus comments...

She approached my mom and my mom said "no thanks we are jewish"

The girls eyes popped out of her head as she said "REALLY?"

Then she proceeded to tell us how shes from a small town in XYZ and just came to NY... and has never met someone Jewish before, and looked suprised that i didnt have horns coming out of my Knicks hat (back when they had Ewing, mason, oakley, smith and starks)..

(theme song from "a different world" begins to play)It's a different world form where you come from.

You kids are funny, can't we all get along and go back to talking about guns?

The more you two argue and discuss racism the more you help continue it. Let it go-- there are plenty of other more intelligent things to discuss.

LOL if there were no cops then the guys from "nowhere" whatever, with the most guns would be running the land. The education that you work so hard for will mean sh*t because you will be hiding in your City"war zone"! I don't agree with profiling but calling the people pigs that are risking there lifes daily to keep the streets safe is stupidity! I have some Greek friends who ***** about the US and how great Greece is, my answer "You don't like it, get on a plane and go back there, don't let the door hit you on the a$$".

I feel you Max, honestly, this is fun to me, I work long days in the lab, and am always looking for entertainment, and clueless people from backwoods cities was today's entertainment for me... ok, I'll go back to advising on car audio stuff...

I'm still trying to gather the relevance of the greek comment to this situation. AGain, 08coupe, I've stated many times that my dislike and distrust of police is not something I hatched up out of boredom, it comes from personal experience , eyewitness accounts, and keeping up to date with the media. Only the most agriegious acts make it on CNN, the everyday stuff gets excused and dismissed without a thought.

ONe of my best scences in the movie "A Time to kill" was at the end when the lawyer gave his closing arguments, described the brutal attack and rape that had occurred in gruesome detail, and then told the jury.."now imagine she was white" It takes that type of empathy for another group of individuals to really understand what they go through on a daily basis.

My guess is, you haven't experienced this type of thing all of your life, so you have no idea where I'm coming from. and that's understandable, but with age and maturity should come a greater ability to empathize.

I emathize with police that have to deal with ignorant thugs (black, white, whetever) everyday, and understand the job that they have. I also empathize with why they would look at me and make the assumptions that they would make. The assumptions are made as part of a natural survival instinct that they must have to survive on the streets as a police officers. But there's a fine line between assuming silently that every black male you meet is a thug, and actually acting on that assumption, and treating them all as if they just finished robbing the bank.

What you [and many others that don't empathize with what I'm saying] don't take into account in your analysis is that 9 times out of ten, if you've been stopped or approached by police, you probably get treated like a law abiding citizen first and foremost until you prove otherwise. Well that hasn't been my situation. Many, many times I have been treated like a criminal first, until I prove otherwise (i.e. the son of their Boss or a doctor in training), and then they usually kiss my *** hoping that I don't report them for their conduct (which I've done on a number of occasions).

The princile of innocent until proven guilty is not a universally applied idea, and that my friend is why we (young black men) treat ALL Cops as if they are racist power tripping pigs, and why the cops treat us like criminals.

I know its a cycle, I've said that 100 times, but it doesn't and can't end until one side gives. And neither side is budging. Have you forgotten why the Black Panther was even founded? It wasn't because they just didn't like police, it was because they got tired of police beating the dog $hit out of them, and decided to form an organization to protect themselves and their community.

We (black men) call them pigs because that's what they are.. until they prove themselves otherwise!

The way I read it, it's telling you if you don't like this country(government, police, etc) then get the **** out.

People like you make me sad about the blood my family has shed over the past 100 years so that you can say these things and act the way you do in freedom.

It's like you think you know it all. Just because you are in medical school?

Just because I don't listen to the mainstream media I'm a dumbass? You're a dumbass for listening to what they try to pump in your head.

You empathize with police?! Not according to everything you've said until now.

Do you really think something so sophisticated as the human brain can really be defined by one thread in a forum and "thinking" you know where someone has lived their whole life? You don't know me, fool.

I'm not here to brag about my intellect, or worldview. It doesn't really matter that I have been overseas, or that I've traveled over 2/3 of America. It doesn't matter that I'm smart enough to work on Aircraft, or that I've earned every penny I've made.

It does matter that your messing with the life blood of this country, not a leach. The fact that you'll probably make $1 million in your first year after graduating discourages me. Because people like you that think their subculture is so right that they can speak for a whole race; they don't deserve that kind of money.

It's funny how you refer to a racism movie just after making the most racist remarks in this thread. Yah, now everybody in Oklahoma loves to bowl and chase chickens.

I can set you straight on one thing, whether 1000 miles away or in your face, you will NEVER tell me what to do.

And so you will know ONE thing about me. I have had more encounters with police than I have fingers and toes. I've been searched many times, in front of people that respect me and that I respect. I know how humiliating it can be. But guess what, I've never gone to jail. And if you've seen the videos they can't show on COPS, you'd understand why a police officer might have his hand on his gun when walking up to your window. Or why he puts everyone in cuffs before even running your ID. It takes a special breed of person to be a cop. And many join for many different reasons, whether they were bullied in high school...seen somebody die they could've saved...lots of reasons.

And yes, racism is obviously still alive. But when people make such a bad example for their own race(ie:you), how could you ever expect it to die?

Fortunately, there are people like me who understand that you are but one person, not white, not black, but one human person.

Maybe if you started acting like an individual, and not as a race, you would earn more respect...peace out "YA'LL"

Alright datsun, go back to your own forums already. You've scorned, argued, and threatened many members in this single thread alone. We can see you are educated and have a proper command over the English language. Point proven. Have fun in the 2.4 forums.

I'm only keeping this up because its funny to me, an the mods haven't locked this down yet.... lol

what, you're jealous because I'll make a lot of money one day, I could care less!

And I'm not speaking for every member of my ethnic group (notice that I didn't say "race" because anyone with half a brain knows that race is a social construct created by people, but actually has no scientific bearing or definition, still people use it every day incorrectly), I'm speaking for the 100's of thousands of young black men who hate crooked cops, and feel about them the same way I feel about them.

The fact that you've allowed yourself to be handcuffed and embarrased and you still walk around and support the facist pigs that do it says alot about you. Some find it admirable, I find it pathetic.

And as I mentioned, the comments about Tulsa "nowhere" Oklahoma were meant to be ignorant and were said to incite, not as a depiction of my vision of Oklahoma. I could care less about Oklahoma or any of its cities.

Dude we could go back and forth all day, but I'm about to enjoy my weekend and stay on the grind so I can finish school and "make a lot of money".... lol... that's $hit is hilarious to me.

Hey man, you should be nice, you may see me on the other side of the operating table one day.... if I'm ever flown into the backwoods as a specialist for an operation.

You're a funny dude to me, you're like a King's fool, you poke him a little bit, and you get a nice reaction, come on, I'm getting bored again, waiting for your response.

no, I said you were ignorant of what's going on in the world regarding police brutality and "why they would shoot someone if they didn't have a reason to" You do know the difference between ignorant and dumb right.. and no they are not synonyms!
theoklahomakid wrote:You empathize with police?! Not according to everything you've said until now.
i said empathize with their feelings, not their actions. Can you read? Do you even know the difference between empathize and sympathize?

that $hit is just funny, I don't even have a response, I'm still laughing

And a pug crossed with a beagle is a Puggle. I thought it was bull**** when I saw a pic of one on the net... but then I saw one in person and they are soooo strange looking.

OK boys, I think this thread has gotten a little out of hand. I don't know if I have any jurisdiction on this forum anymore, but if this happened about 2 months ago, I would've closed the thread already. But, like I said, I don't know if it's my place to do it now. So...

Let's cool it down a bit, gents. Let's be civil in here and no name calling, ok?

I'm sorry if I offended you adidas, but I don't remember threatening anyone.

Rj, there is a big difference between being discouraged, and being jealous.

And since you could care less, please do. Surely, it will keep you far from my "town".

To the mods, sorry....
