well i finally got the module delivered today, and i was surprised to find a lot more cables in the box than i expected.

i attached the cables to the module to show how its set up. it also came with zip ties, foam padding with adhesive on one side, double sided tape, and a nice little felt pouch to store your ipod in. It didnt come with vehicle specific installation instructions, or any installation instructions at all. It came in a Nissan box, and had instructions on how to get the vehicle specific installation instructions from Nissan's intranet, so i assume this is meant to be installed by Nissan. We should be fine since we know how to get the head unit out and we should be able to figure out where the plugs go since im sure they can only go into one hole in the back of the head unit. i just hope this actually works.

from this pic (thanks gtcompscientist) it looks like theres holes for all the plugs provided in the kit. if anyone can find a better pic of the holes in the back of the head unit that would be great.

interesting discovery when i looked at the wires more....it looks like this is how it is supposed to go with the large male plug going into the slot on the far right of the head unit, and then whatever is normally plugged into that far right slot on the head unit(the XM module i assume) would plug into the grey plug on the harness. now i dont know why it makes sense for the one wire to come out of the module, then plug into the other wire coming out of the module, but it fits perfectly and the wire colors all match up.

Thanks for doing all the work to track down a solution, but what happened? I see the photos below of the parts and it stopped just short of the install. Did it work?

Does anyone have any info on installing an ipod kit for a nissan altima with nav? Is there any proven working solution? I've been pouring through forums for the last hour and have not found a solution yet. This thread is as close as I've gotten so far!

sadly, the reason why this thread didnt get to the install pics is because it never got to the install step. after checking the part numbers, i discovered that they were the same part numbers of the ipod kit sold by Nissan and is already confirmed to NOT work with the nav system.

noone still hasnt found anything that will work for us with the factory nav....if you find anything, def let us know.

amazing nobody has found a solution yet.

in case anyone is interested, here's the solution i'm using now, the griffin tuneflex aux. it's not pretty but it keeps my hands on the steering wheel and charges the ipod at the same time: http://tinyurl.com/cku8gw

Has anyone figured out how to fix the problem with the XM display only showing 8 letters after the ipod interface has been connected? Mine does the same thing and it is really irritating.

I wish the interface let you search faster within a category (without flashing the category name first everytime) and that it let you select a particular album within artist instead of automatically selecting "all". And that when you switched tracks it would immediately show the track name instead of displaying the "Sat Channel" for several seconds.

Still, I've been waiting years to get a new car that would have a direct ipod connection, so this is better than nothing. Sounds great, after I got used to the muddy midrange of the Bose stereo.

I had my Bose (without nav) removed and a Pioneer installed (with nav); I hated it. I recently put the Bose back in and remembered the problem I had with the Ipod hard-wired - the XM display truncates to 8 places. If you put the radio in Ipod mode before you turn the car off, next time you start the car, put in XM mode, the display won't truncate. This makes some sense with you all talking about the Ipod installation and the XM plug.
