Hi everyone - I got a 2016 Rogue SL 4 weeks ago (my second Rogue). Read the manual, downloaded the app, got my iPhone connected and working great. Last week, I upgraded my iPhone 6s to iOS 10. Since then, things have gone haywire in the car. I can no longer respond to texts (worked perfectly via Siri before), the Nissan app itself will no longer connect to the car, sometimes my music starts skipping around or stops altogether, and if I have my phone plugged in via USB and the navigation is going the system gets confused - for lack of a better word.

Is there anything I can do besides downgrading my phone back to iOS 9? Is Nissan planning, or do they offer an update to handle the new OS?

Thanks for any help or advice! I'm bummed that my brand new car already has technical issues.

Hello I have an iPhone 6s Plus 128 GB running the latest iOS and my vehicle is a 2105 Rogue SL AWD with Navigation and the Nissan Connect App (Basic Subscription) and I have none of the issues you are reporting. The only thing I can recommend you trying is to do a hard reset of the radio by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting it. If that doesn't work you may need to see your dealer's service dept and ask if there is a software update for the vehicle infotainment system. Nissan should be putting out an update to deal with iOS 10 but it will probably be a while. Don't hold your breath. My next trip to my dealer is in about 1000 miles for my next oil change. When I go I will ask about an update. If you find out first can you reply here? Hope this helps.

NIssan is horrible for updating their apps to the latest IOS.
When in the app, does it show you as being connected?
Check your bluetooth settings.
You could remove your vehicle form the app and re-add it to see if that helps too.

Hi! No, when I'm in the app it always says "disconnected" when previously it was connected. The app reviews were pretty horrible, so I wasn't expecting miracles - but I also didn't expect to lose a bunch of functions. I haven't tried disconnecting and reconnecting the Bluetooth - that's a good tip, I'll try that next. The phone and streaming audio are still working, it's mostly issues getting Siri to work properly. Also, every single time I'm plugged in via USB the car asks if I want to update the music library...even though it's never changed. It's obnoxious.

That's odd regarding the library update.
Siri works for me via bluetooth only if I press the home button.

Previously, when I got a text message, I could hit the phone pickup button and respond via Siri. Now Siri can't understand what I want her to do when I get a text. And when I tried to walk through the voice command prompts - "phone" then "Siri" then ask her to send a text, that worked perfectly. Now it's only working half the time. Again today, as soon as I plugged in via USB it asked to update the music library for the umpteenth time. The other day I had my phone plugged in and playing music through AUX (better sound than Bluetooth streaming), and a navigation route going - when I started the voice commands the system went crazy - music turning on and off, map indicator lost and spinning, and then the system went black. It came back on about a minute later.

For right now, I'm not even bothering to plug my phone in.

I am assuming that you have Siri Hands Free/Car Play for your vehicle. At this point it seems like a Nissan problem. There software isn't playing well with iOS 10. Software on the iPhone likes to be in control and it's bullying the inferior Nissan software, so it then throws a temper tantrum. Right now all you can do is bother Nissan and ask them when will a software update be out out that will play properly with iOS 10. I would do it via Facebook/Twitter since it is alot more public/visible.

Good luck with trying to get Nissan to do another software update. The latest version, 2.0.3 of Nissan Connect came out on June 15th of 2016, the one previous to that was back on Nov 14th, 2014. :tisk:

Gah - that's frustrating! Why put upgrades into a car if you aren't going to support them?!

I am not referring to the Nissan App but the car infotainment system it's self. Since I have had my car for just six months now I have had 2 updates done to it and it's works just fine with my phone. That is the update you need from the dealer. You have to tell them your having radio problems and you need your system updated. It takes about 30-45 mins to do.

Hi Ken - I understand what you meant :) my previous reply was in regards to yearoftherat's comment. I think you're spot on - the iPhone wants control and throws a tantrum, for sure. I'm going to ask the dealer if they have an upgrade available at my first service appointment.

Thanks so much, this is a great forum!

Your welcome and I wasn't clear enough in my first reply. Nissan needs to step up their game with their software. Its not like iOS 10 was a big secret. Maybe they should get a contract with Apple or join them in beta testing the software when it's pushed out especially since Siri Hands Free is part of the 2016 and up Rogue.

@casssiopeia - Sorry, I thought you meant the app. I agree with you and kboo in that Nissan needs to be more proactive in their software development. Even though I don't have the Nav package in my SV, I find the infotainment system very lacking to a point I've thought of replacing it with an aftermarket deck.

There is a thread with pictures where someone changed theirs to an aftermarket unit. You should check it out. Try this link... aftermarket-stereo-w-surround-view-t570 ... l#p6433239.
