Hi Gang- My first post....! My name is Yasin. I am automotive enthusiast for sure. I have been building, desgining, fabricating parts for my cars (& friend's cars) for quite some time. With an Engineering background, I have completed much CAD work and I am not afraid to experiment with ideas \ concepts. "Forced induction" are some of my favorite words!

I have been looking at Y34 M45 since the summer of '07, like most of you have always loved these cars.

Just be fair to myself and know that I picked the right car, I test drove many many cars that compete with the M45 including LS400\SC400\LS430\GS400 cars. The Lexus' were no way near as quick and were more sofa in appeal. Test drove the Acura TL - liked it quite a bit with 260hp on tap. I also test drove an '04 Q45 and and an '08 G35 AWD, the Q was nice, but the styling did not draw me in, the new G was beautiful to look at and amazing interior but the VQ engine faded compared to the VK in the M45. I also test drove several E36 and E39 M3 models only and were too cramped in the rear and E39 M3 have been notoriosuly plauged with engine issues until about '04. I also looked at C-Class and E Class Benzes, seeing that I sold an AMG EClass a few years ago and really liked that car.

All in all the M45 represented the best size, stellar performance, value and handsome looks and even though we might not admit it (or want to!), we all operate on a budget, so that was important as well.

I was only looking for an '04 car and my car was found through the Infiniti dealership network and bought through their pre-approved program. The car has a little over 45K and is in good condition overall. The price was very fair and the dealership were great to deal with. I flew out to the Memphis Infiniti dealership to check it out, it exceeded my expectations, so I cut the check and put it on a truck and shipped it back to Colorado.

To be honest I have had the car exactly one week and as I have been very wrapped up with work I have driven it only once for about 40miles. So far it has been extemely impressive, its handsome lines are very easy on the eye.

Oh well enough blab and here are the pics:

Here are my other Nissan \ Datsun linneage, this is a pure fluke that I own 3 other Nissans \ Datsun...1967 1600 Roadster with 3,220 original miles (I am the second owner):

This car will be putting down 450+ at the wheels in the next few weeks - '83 280ZX Turbo, all fabrication and design done at home by myself:

This car will be restored at some point..I dug it out of a forest after sitting under pine trees for 13straight years, and I resurrected and rebuilt all the mechanicals and some electrics - '78 280Z:

Parts hauler - 1 of only 700 in the US. Turbo Miata motor mounted FWD in a 323, 15psi of boost, lots of neat tricks on it...about 180hp

And once in a while this thing comes out...418hp at 14psi - '89 930:

Looking forward to learning from you all and being a positive contributor to this forum.

My very best - Yasin

Welcome to NICO.

So tell us about the red Lotus, the White M1 and the 2002 in the background.

Nice stable. By the way, no VH in Y34 or F50 or Y50, only VK.

Had a friend with a 2000 roadster back in the day. so much better than anything short of an Alfa.

Welcome!!! (and thanks for posting so many beautiful pictures on your first post too!)

I love the 1967 roadster the best, what a nice car, and with so few origional miles!

Also, I would love to hear the story about the red Lotus in the background too...that is my favorite car (I would love to someday own a yellow '02 - '04 Esprit).

BTW, great looking M!

Looks like you really know your stuff about turbo-charging cars as well.

Welcome to the club, and that's a nice collection of cars. I never seen a Datsun roadster, very nice. Well!!!!!! since you are an engineer and you love to design and fabricate, if you ever want to make some extra money, fabricating and selling a cold air induction for the 03-04 M will definately keep your pockets fat. I would say at least 75% of the members here would buy it, depending on price.

Maxnix - Thanks and roger that on the VK - my slip-up.

The Red Lotus was a project that I was going to pursue at one stage but had to pass it along. A very clean car, that had been never driven and the owner was tired of spending good money after bad on it. My plan was to turbocharge it but it had suffered a smallish engine fire and would have required alot of harness and some frame work to make it perfect, which is the level I try to achieve with my projects, too many "slap-em together Joes" around.

The BMW collection belong's to a friend of mine, it is the largest private collection of Bimmers in the U.S. The M1 is seldom driven and is one of the sexiest cars to look at, let alone hear on idle let alone drive, the white 2002 is a Tii model and is perfect and in the picture what you cannot see is a 2002 Turbo and many many other rare Bavarian birds. That picture was part of a photo shoot one evening for a professional photographer's portfolio, and he was playing with lighting, and angles on that one.

Thanks on the comliments on the Roadster, she is a little sweety, all 96hp! I do like the older Alfas too (later models and '80s not so much), having spent many years in Europe I have a deep appreciation for European engineering.

M45-Zero - Many thanks on the compliments on the Roadster and the M. Here are two extremes in technology and 4 decades separate these two cars - fascinating, yet intriguing! Please see my comments above on the Lotus Esprit. Have you ever driven an Esprit Turbo? Pretty amazing cars. Naturally the later model Twin Turbo V8 32V cars are quite impressive.

Peter- Thanks! The Datsun roadster is a rare bird, not many survive in the US anymore, only a few thousand came here from about '64\'65 to '70. They were called the Fairlady in Japan and held the land speed record for many years as the fastest street vehicle you could buy off the showroom floor in the '60s. If you Google them, alot of hits will come up (if you are interested). In regards to the cold air intake, I am not in it for the "fat pockets" part. But now that you have planted the bug...I will absolutely look into designing a Cold Air Intake. The key is to keep the Air Filter away from the heat generated by the radiator, while being in a location to receive cold air constantly while the car is moving and not be located too low under the radiator support to ever have the possibility of pulling and absorbing moisture. Let me take a look. Will report back..I have lots of mandrel alumium piping in the garage too..wink! Sometimes on these bolt-on style pieces it is tricky to improve on the high level of Engineering and Design done at the factory, but I will absolutely give it a shot!

My best and many thanks for the reception and warm welcome!

Welcome to NICO.

Indeed an impressive collection of cars. Must be fun to work on them yourself!

If you can give us progress pictures here, as you do the work, particularly on the Datusn, Nissan and Infiniti models (others are fine too, of course), that would be excellent. We can post them in our articles section ...

Very true that! Glad you recognize it ... does not mean it is impossible, but always good to make sure that the expectations are correct from the start!

You should have hit me up while you were in town--would have been nice to compare notes with our M's! Funny that I live in Memphis and had to fly to Raleigh NC to find my car (took me 18 months to find it) and you flew into memphis.

Infiniti of Memphis is a good dealership--at least thus far.

Good luck with the M!

Z - Thanks for the welcome. I am still willing to puruse the CAI for the M, it will be in a while as I have to put the white 280ZX Turbo back together (I have a pending magazine shoot on it) and that is priority number one momentarily. For the first time last night at 10pm, I had enough time to sit inside the M and do the whole voice learning callibration exercise which was a neat procedure and also lear every function on the car. Any progress will be absolutely shared here on this board first hand - my promise to you guys!.

Paper - The manager of the dealership said that he thought I was wasting my money to fly out just to see the car. He said if it was some corner lot offering the car, then different situation. But for peice of mind, I said what the heck. I had never been to Memphis, so it was a chance to check it out. It was a really quick trip, one night as I had to get back to work - duty calls right? Next time I will take you up on the offer for sure - many thanks! Infiniti of Memphis were kind enough to buy me two brand new wheels (as the originals had some slight curb grazing which I was fussy with), then they gave me two owners manuals and three keys (2 brand new) for the car, so all in all a very favorable transaction.

My best - Yasin

Wow!

You are making me jealous with a collection like that!

I love the 930, what a sweet car.

2nd fav is the Datsun Roadster.

I only have a small collection of tractors, maybe I should add a Porsche or two to the collection.

Many many thanks to all of you for such a warm and receptive welcome. To be honest this has to be the best welcome on any Automotive Forum I have visited and I am a member of.

Many thanks to you all.

My plan is to contribute as often as possible.

If any of you guys are in the area or local (Denver too) lets make it a point to get together - Spring is here!!

Its funny I drove my 96hp Roadster on the weekend and then went out in the 418hp 930 for dinner and had equal enjoyment in both. Mechanics, Engineering (in general) and Automotive design is very inspiring for me...but its not all roses..I get pi$$ed off from time to time, when I come across a problem...and I say to myself "what the he!! were they thinking"...LOL

Thanks again for the welcome everyone!

My best - Yasin
