Intolerant Domestic Lovers.......

Hello,

My girlfriend has been feeling sick lately (not pregnant ) so she had me go down to Dairy Queen last night to get a Cappamocha or Mocha-coco or something like that.....

Anyway, I guess Dairy Queen is the hot spot for the middle aged men that build old American muscle. There were a few VERY nice 69 Camereos, an *** kicking Baracuda and a super slick Corvair. I'm talking about blowers popping out of hoods, custom chrome work and all the trick parts that retirement funds get squeezed for.

After procuring my (I mean my girlfriend's) mocha-frap-coco-latte thing I walked over to the group to check out their cars. Everyone seemed friendly enough until I said "Wow, these are some really nice rides!"

This one guy looks over and says: "Yeah, any of these cars would just DESTROY that Jap crap (no joke, jap crap) that you're driving." And the other guys shook their heads in agreement! I just couldn't believe it. I didn't walk up and start giving them crap about how they drive two ton carburated dinosaur technology......I just said they had some nice cars.

And these weren't punk kids either........grown men!!! I've met a couple really nice guys that drive domestics and understand that imports are just as interesting and fun to drive.........but it seems that for every one of those guys I meet, I run into THIRTY that think domesticons are the best things in the world and just flat out refuse to acknowledge that the import scene is more than just giant wings and neon.

Whatever.......it's tough to not be prejudiced when this kind of thing happens. Also, I feel that the SR20 powered 240 isn't going to cut it any more.........time to step up to 20B three-rotor swapped FC RX!!!

you mean the mocha moo-latte? that stuff is good but no substitute for a starbucks moch frappaccino(sp?). I know what you mean about the domestic guys, thats how it is around here too. THe younger ppl and my age group(20s) can be convinced or already do respect both but the old generations can be ***holes. Of course there are exceptions but few and far between. I think its a geographical thing here though, I live in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, it really boggles my mind. I like all kinds of cars. If it has wheels and goes fast, I like it.

I honestly just don't get the whole domestic vs. import mentality. I've tried to figure it out, but I just can't.

The reason that I didn't make any rude comments or anything was that I truly was dumbstruck. I just shook my head and turned around.

Cover it in stickers, a big aluminum wing, some plastic wheel covers, neon and then just enough nitrous to keep the car running for at least a few days until it blows up. Find some Camaros and Mustangs and then kick some ***...lol.

Seriously, all I can say is that those guys are missing out on a huge part of the automotive world. A fun part.

I was at a car show the other day and it makes this story have some effect... lots of HIGH POWER domestics... i saw one chevy wagon pull one dyno run at 659 hp... christ... Anyways... the only imports were some integras with some painting valve covers, aem intakes and racing seats. Lots of me but nothing good. Kinda made me wish i had my car there to get dynoed.

I love my 2.0.. but i have total respect and really enjoy heavy iron. some stupid hicks just cant understand that 7L in a 2-ton car isnt hte only way to have fun.

yeah try living in west virginia and dirving 2 imports....the fun thing is that around here they dont have blowers sticking out of the hoods, they just drive stock irocs that even a stock 240 hangs with and the z humiliates without a downshift

I don know how much better 240sx will be at cornering, stock to stock compared to an old mustang or camaro. I do know that it's possible that their high horsepower/torque will be able to compensate for slowing down on corners.

I don't think it's cool when you are next to a mustang, losing to him on straight line and say... I'll beat you on cornering, that's a bit silly, seems like.

i live in a town with alot of american wanna be rednecks with camaros and uk what. my car could be just that fast. but more importantly...id like to see a smallblock 350 lt1 at 212,750 miles..my "jap 4 banger" is that far along and runnin strong. my friends 97 lt1 has close to 90k and is already goin down hill. so im with every1 else. like nice cars, dont hate nice cars because of where they are from. and just because u can do stuff to your car doesnt mean every1 else can. so respect, thats what these american carlovers need

Man, that sucks. I would have had some choice words to say to him for sure, and the rest of them. Go buy a Buick GN, when I had my Buick, the Domestic guys hated me and the Import guys hated me. you are a true "loner" when you drive one of those. The Domestics hate getting beat by a little V6 and the Imports hate getting beat by a sedan with a little V6...lol. What we need here is a 240 with a turbo V6 If I had the engine out of my old GN in my 240.....man, it would be one scary ride. ANYWAY, go find those guys and talk trash. NEVER be afraid to race, even if you know you will get beat. Sometimes those old Domestics have more bark than bite, especially on the highway I know that all too well.

Yeah, I raced a sweet looking 69 Camaro not long after i got my 240. I mean, this car was like fully restored, sounded real good. We raced from about 70-110, it was about dead even. He wasn't too happy. All bark, no bite.

I was in town one time and some guy pulled up in his TRANS-AM (Lol) And he pointed at me and two of my friends and he said I WANT A PEICE OF THAT MUSTANG AND I WANT A PEICE OF THAT CAMAAAARO AND I WANT A PEICE OF THAT GOD DAMN PUSSSY CAR (My 240)....And I just looked at him...Laughing at his stupidity and I Hopped in my 240 Sat for a min and he drove off...and no one has seen him since...Lol Crazy stupid red neck people...
