Wow, are you smoking crack? (kidding of course) Like I said already, most of the cars in the AutoTrader link you posted that are UNDER 9K are at AUCTION, OR they have way over 100k. That's STARTING BID PRICES too, not the aactual sale price. Once again, I stand by my statement. You can try to "school" me if you'd like to, but I've been in this Q world much longer than you, and I check the market regularly to see how much value my car has lost.

Once again, I am right. Ahh, it's hard to be right all the time. My Q is still for sale, for the very high price I'm asking for one of the most perfect and well maintained Q's in all of L.A.

I figure by searching a 50 mile radius I can view more than 5 cars in my immediate area.

wtf? there are many with about 100,000 miles asking 7500 bucks, MANY . I'm not about to waste my time posting links.

AND THE auctions prices ARE BUY IT NOW prices. I've already called them.

STARTING prices at auctions. A 1998 Y33 Q with under 100k in excellent condition is still at the least 10K here.
Just pointing out that south FL (Miami in particular) is the Porsche 'capital on the world'. Champion Porsche in Pompano Beach sells more Porsches than any other dealer. Of course, LA prolly has 10 dealers that together outsell Champion...

I see, well, I've actually been to the "LA Public Motors" auctions, and none of the cars were buy now prices.

I think the best interior comes from the VW, Phaeton.IMO, both LS and Q45 has pretty much similar quality and image when it comes to interior design that it seems almost meaningless to compare those two.

Great condition, except my power steering has a leak, or my pump is out. Either way, I don't have power steering. It was fine when I got it, no noise or anything, oh well, I'll fix it when I get some extra funds.

Thats the only problem

Oh and 200k miles, 120k of which I know for a fact were all highway.

Hitman, you are correct sir

I used to work for a VW dealer...the Phaeton has a really nice interior but it suffers from some VW parts-bin raiding.

The biggest flaw on the VW is the warped windshield. Love the design and layout, but the A8 uses better materials.

I think 200k on the odo speaks for itself, that is ALOT of miles, I have not heard of any Y33's that high up there. Most on Autotrader are in the 100k-120k range.

I think when you get to 200k the value of any car is going to drop pretty quickly. I have only 85k on my 97' and I'm nursing it to 100k slowly with my X-Terra taking some duty up.

Pills, I think you did well for 200k but you know your gonna have to put some bucks in at that high of mileage. Time to get your suspension ramped up, I'll bet you have original springs and shocks in there. KYB SR Special shocks/struts and a set of Tein lowering springs are in order! Search the board, I did it and it transforms the car!

I agree...the A8 is definately preferable. I think the Phaeton may end up being a used-car bargain though.

Everybody is complaining about the interior. What about the trunk space? My 99 Y33s trunk is smaller than my friends 2000 corolla!!! why such bad design? LSs are also rear wheel drive, I don't see any lack of trunk space in an LS or in a 3 series bimmer..

I would leave the trunk space on a J30, its a disgrace to call it a trunk space. Possibly some porsches have bigger trunk space under their front hood.

Greenwar, you need to do some more reading here and of the FSM.

Fuel tank is located above the rear axle for safety reasons.

One of the best locations for trunk space is like the Crown Vic behind the rear axle under the trunk. We all know what happens to those when rear-ended hard enough.

Yeah, the gas tank and the rear strut tower brace all take up space, but I don't mind. Still can fit two bodies in there.....

Trunk space blows, for both G50 and Y33. I end up using the rear seat often for luggage. I'm lucky I don't usually have more than one passenger, so it works out.

I have found the trunk can hold more than you would think as it is very good rectangle shape. It is far larger than a Boxster front trunk. My friends and I got on Napa runs and it holds 5-7 cases of wine and our coolers for picknicks.

I have also picked up people with lots of luggage from the airport, true it is not a Towncar or even a Camry, but it is more useful than I orginally thought it would be.

I know they have the gas tank in there, but I think for competing against LS430 the current Q needs to put the gas tank out back for leg room if nothing else. The LS430 trunk is not that big either, FYI.

it doesnt look as big because its not very long, but its very tall... I personally think trunk space is sufficient.

Well put, sufficient but not much more. Most of the time when I go car shopping they always tell you "it will fit X number of bags of golf clubs" but since I don't play, I say how many cases of wine will it fit. My Q ends up loaded up with the wine on my Napa runs with friends as I have the wine cellar they store it in, and I have put 7 cases in with coolers, baskets and other crap...just enough.
