That is what I am in process of doing right now since the car is down for other projects:

As reflective as the stock trim and highlights the chrome trim a LOT more. I like it so far. I still need to do the radio bezel, shifter bezel and info center bezel.

Just got done with the clock/cd bezel:

Dis-assembly and then reassembly was not that hard or bad.

Working on the ashtray/shifter right now. Dis-assembly on it was FAR more complicated:

All of this is fairly easy and straight forward to do. Get on it people! LOL.

I'm happy to say that I was able to finish my interior today, all dash & door trim is done. Robert came by and kept me company for a few hours.

So I went from orange wood to brush steel

Time to give my fingers a break

Thanks Robert

you saw how long it took me to finish each part, at the end it came out great. I was happy I was able to pull it off and not pay out all that money.

I hope your enjoying your new stereo

Interior, aside from the driver info center, is done. I haven't decided if I want to do the DIC yet or not.

your new brush black trim came out nice, chrome trim pops out more.

But hard to tell how it looks in the pics with the rest of the dash being black. It's one of the reason I went with the brushed steel, I wanted the trim to pop from the black dash.

Most have been doing the brush aluminum.

I hear ya Freddie, it's hard to see in the pictures but the brushed black is more reflective than the dash. You definitely see the trim but it does not scream like the stock aluminum. If I had black interior I would have chosen something lighter but with the light interior this came out to a perfect combo. Those that have seen it in person say that it matches really well and appears more "refined". Frequent riders in the car and those that have never been in the car are drawn to the trim first. I picked up samples of anthracite CF, black CF, silver CF, chrome, a few different woods, brushed steel, brushed aluminum, and brushed black metalic. The CF was out as seeing it in the car in person it appeared too "busy" for me, the wood, while it "warmed" up the interior, is just not my style. So I took a shot with the black as I knew it would be fairly easy to change if I did not like it and for $30, meh, no biggie (I picked up an extra set of the trim so I have only minimal down time).

You are right---the brushed steel goes really well with the black interior. Good job on the DIC also!
The brushed black would have "disappeared".

Nice work.

you guys did a really nice job, they look great. A month or 2 back i went to my local "wrap shop" and narrowed down my choices to CF Anthracite, Brushed steel and the Brushed Metallic black (funny how we all seem to be liking the same options). Originally I wanted CF but didnt like the black or silver and the more i see the CF the more I find it too distracting, especially with the curves in the trim. Lately Ive been leaning towards the Brushed steel because I have the black interior but both the steel and metallic black look great. You said that your just ordered a 3x5 sheet and that did all your trim? Is the 3x5 having the grain run the 3' or 5' way? If you bought it on Ebay can you link to the auction or seller seeing as how there are about 50 different sellers of this stuff. What tools did you use like a scraper or heat gun/hair dryer?

DeanM45 can you please post a few more pics of your trim? Im worried about it being too dark with my black leather but I do like how sleek it looks.

06m4.5 do you think you could please post a pic of your dash with some of the black dash parts in it too kind of like Dean did from his back seat in the 2nd pic he posted?

Thanks a ton guys and they look great!

Clean the parts with alcohol --really clean. Then I used a heat gun to heat the part and vinyl--start in the center and work outwards. When you have to cut make sure you have a VERY sharp razor. That's really about it.

thank you for the quick response and additional pics. Do you think the underneath wood pieces are more or less "ruined" after the alcohol, heat, and cutting? Just a little hesitant to ruin them in case they need to go back to wood come resale time. Im assuming they prob wont look just like they do now if i remove the vinyl a few years down the road? Did you just use rubbing alcohold wipes or a diff kind that evaporates better?

Also how much did you buy and from where?

The wood should be fine--all the cutting is done on the back of the part. The alcohol should not hurt it and to remove the vinyl just heat it up again and pull it off. You may have some adhesive residue afterwards to clean up but no biggy there. I used 2ft X 5ft of the vinyl. 3M 1080 Scotchprint. Got it from Amazon.

This is what I got:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/3M-1080-BRUSHED ... 1c24308765

I wanted to have some extra for mistakes and a little more incase I wanted to wrap additional parts in the near future

Good Luck, Freddie

thanks for the link, thats the exact one that I have on my ebay watchlist already so thats good news. Seems to be the best price I can find on it. Did you use a scraper to flaten it out and get air bubbles out? And what about a hair dryer vs heat gun?

Did you guys just follow the post floating around here to remove the trim pieces?

I did all the trim with my hands and fingers, no scrapers. I used a 1 sided blade (new) for the final cuts.

Hair dryer was safer for me.

If your going to order a scraper make sure it has the felt tip on it.
