I was talking to a few NY members and was wondering how many people would be interested in a meet. Some ideas were: Darien Lake, NY at the Six Flags Theme Park or maybe one of our nearby NY State parks, Letchworth, Allegany? Out-of-staters are of course also welcome!

It probably wouldn't be until May 2006, and we would have a cookout in the picnic area at whichever park we wanted. Hot dogs, hamburgers, whatever anyone wants to bring as extras. Let me know if you're interested so I can get a head count going and everyone can plan theday(s)off from work, etc. Also so I can see if I can get a group discount for the parks. Either on this thread, let me know or on AIM: alteredimage240- please include your real name and number of people coming with you if possible. I'll have more info as the winter months progress and when I get an idea of what everyone wants to do.

Thanks! Cat

Get some more people to post in this thread, and I'll sticky it. If I sticky it now, it might get overlooked (people tend to skim over stickies).

lol I hardly ever plan that far ahead, but count me in for this one as well-- lets make it BIG! Real name is Foster, I'd be bringing a few people but couldnt tell you how many.. Somewhere between 1 and 5.

...also what EZCheese said-- one of us will stickey the thread in a little bit once lots of people have a chance to see it.

Watkins Glen, NY meet May 2006! 10:52 PM 12/7/2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, yes I said Watkins Glen. Well, at a State Park nearby... but it's Watkins Glen, folks. I've never been there, but the opening day this year is April 30th. Anyone is welcome to come to the meet, I just need an idea of how many people would be interested, and whether anyone would be willing to pay a small fee to come.

driftS14boy and I are concocting a plan for the day that will include food and general highjinx. It was his idea for Watkins, so worship him, really. Although, some worshipping in my direction is cool too

Tenatively, it will be sometime in the second week of MAY. We're going to try to get a day set in stone as soon as we know costs etc. We will also get directions for the Glen and the park- there's a bunch of stuff out there according to Bernie (aka driftS14boy) and it should be a good time.

AIM: alteredimage240Phone: 1(716) 378-9969 Leave a message with Nico in it. Thanks!

Just to let you know, the 2006 National SE-R convention is the weekend of may5th-7th, at Pocono raceway. Just letting you know that you may have a conflicting event. I'll be at the se-r convention anyway

if people's cars can pass tech and they want to spend the money we could coordinate a meet at the park one day and spend a day at the track the other...the parks an awesome place

also we could do something fun on the park day like retrace the original gran prix course, i have a map of it from my frequent glen outings

I was thinking the weekend of the 12th, cheese. so they might not conflict so much. I'll have to see if that would be too close though. Thanks for the heads up!

Cars at Carlisle is also having their "import" show May 5-7th too.http://www.carlisleperformanceandstyle.com/(Repackaged, renamed, and back at the Carlisle Fairgorunds)

So second weekend of May would probably be better.

I can make it and probably bring 2 or 3 people. May is a long way off but I have no problem with planning ahead.

Bernie (S14 Boy) and I go around "the old track" like madmen just about every other weekend, every summer. You guys would have an absolute ball, not to mention visiting the Motorsports Library, which has just about every car/bike mag/book ever made, and usually a cobra or gt40 er something awesome in the main lobby. I'm totally in for Glen 06

oh yeah... just dont get caught pissing on a park bush, or you'd better have bail money. Bernie is a "modern" historian of the Glen region. IM me or find me on Nico Chat as motoxr377, my real name is Nick, i may have a bmw right now... but project "crazy s13" is in the works, looking forward to the Glen this spring!

The glen is an AWESOME track... or are you guys just talking about meeting up in the area of the glen? I'd really like to see if we could do a HPDE or something on the track itself. I go up there every year for the Sirus at the Glen (or whatever theyre calling it that year), and I'm always dreaming about taking my car on that course.

Hey sweetie, count me in for the meeting. I hope to have the S13 back on the road by then, but worst case scenario I'll be there with the Maxima. Guys, I know most Nico-nauts are well behaved in public (except for the leg-humping...), but let's make sure that if you are inviting friends to join you, they know that no burnouts and stupid behavior will be tolerated. Just looking out, that's all :-D

yeah, we discussed having the meet inconjunction with opening day(where you can drive a personal car on the track) but we decided it would be really busy, and less fun. but if you guys wanna do that, talk to alteredimage240sx(Kat) she is in charge. i suggest anyone goes to opening day even if there is no meet on that day, lots of fun

opening day is too early, lots of people cant make it until late may

Foster i had mentioned the HPDE idea, but NASA hasnt released their schedule for it, and i dont know how many people want to pay that much for it

maybe we do a meet on friday at the park and then for those who want to stay and pay for it saturday (and sunday, at least for me) run the HPDE

this will firm up more within the next few months, and ill try to find out the weekend the track days will be happening...
