Okay so let's do this to put up a date. Why don't we "loosely" plan it for the 19th, which is that Friday, and anyone who wants to stay for the 20th and 21st can do that, I don't know what the accomodatons are like out there personally. So anybody who lives out that way will have to help me out and make some phone calls or leave some numbers here for some inexpensive places near there for our out of state members. If anybody is willing to house a couple of members for a couple of days, that'd be cool too.

I live a little too far away to drive back and forth, so I'm thinking about getting a campsite possibly- maybe we could get a couple with big tents or a couple of cabins and party or just chat until the wee hours? My hubby and I weren't sure yet. I'll let you know soon, because if we're going to do that we're going to have to book soon if anything's open. Just some ideas. let me know. Anybody who knows someone who hasn't been here yet, get them in here and spread the word!

Thanks everybody! This is already looking awesome!

there are plenty of nice hotels and stuff in the area, there is the Glen Motor inn(favorite for racers) and of course the Seneca Lodge(very popular w/ sporting car drivers) and ithaca has some realativly good accomodations.

that date sounds good w/ me, as long as it doesn't interfere w/ the Indy 500, i will be extremly happy!!

heck yeah im down for a big meet. I was actually thinking about doing something like this.

I live 30 mins from heavy throttle, so when i go up there next week to pick up my turbo timer, i will see if Jeff can get some more 240 people to go.

I think it would be awsome if we could get some kind or drag or drift day or something like that. Maybe we can contact Watkins Glens owners and see about maybe setting up some kind of event for us that weekend..

Let me know...Tim

just so you know, the glen's owned by ISC, aka nascar track company thingy...they dont do drifting in other words

and even if they wanted to its too fast a track for drifting, although you maybe could use sections of it like they do at road atlanta

thats the weekend before indy

this will give me 3 straight weekends of car stuff, first this, then indy, then back to the glen for indycar series/rolex sports cars

then later in june i head up to montreal for the canadian gran prix

^^^yeahhhh, are you going to the 500? the rolex/irl should be great as well, i can't wait, i'm getting sick of this dam snow already! i wanna see some cars on track, now!

and the drifting idea would never work, bill france ownes the glen.....the w/e that we are looking at the track is being used for something, i think the HPDE idea would be amazing, but dont they usually do that late in the season?

Wow. I can't plan that far ahead.

Still checking into seeing whos going to Carlisle and trying to figure out what work will be done to my car by May.

Frankly any weekend except the first works for me and the weather here in Cental NY is super unpredictable and hopefully will work with us. (Could still be snowing for all we now. )

no 500 this year for me, just on TV, because ill be seeing the cars a week later...

check out the schedule on the site, theglen.com, anything in the right column that says "instructional/non-competetive" is an HPDE, as you can see they run pretty much any weekend that there isnt a sanctioned race going on of some sort

the only snag is if the organization putting it on makes it a public event, i know quattro club is one to look for, as well as NASA, for sure those two are good to go

i'm down for the weekend of the 19th, i'll prolly just get a campsite and pitch a tent, i have an 8 man (can hold 4 comfortably)

trying to talk someone into at least riding up with me, but not sure. if not, i will prolly just drive solo and stay at a couple campgrounds along the way.

probably leave oklahoma around the 16th or so, give me a few days to get there.

*edit*

here is the route i will likely be taking, if anyone along the way wants to meet up and caravan the rest of the way or anything... http://maps.google.com/maps?q=...hl=en

if youre serious thatd be awesome, we would definately make it more than a one day thing in that case

also for everyone the porsche club of america is running that weekend, we could try to see if its a public event but if not well at least go take a look, maybe theyll let us in to watch

if you guys wanna make more than one day out of it, and you don't wanna pay for camping at the glen, we could always have a camp-out at my house (about 30-40 min away) we could have a fire, and set up tents in backyard, idk just an idea

So we'll make it the 19th and 20th at least, and if enough people want to come, we can stay the 21st too. Any cars will be fine- we like Subarus too! (Trav and I are actually thinking of getting a Baja.) I think just the comradery of NICO members will be awesome!

This is looking completely awesome. I'd love to campout in your backyard if you wouldn't mind me and trav crashing there? By the way sweetie, I'm terrible with names so I'm making a list of real names and sign on names. (S14boy) real name?? We were going get some camping gear for the summer so this would be an awesome excuse. I'll see if we can get a bigger tent to house some people. HEHE. I can stuff some firewood into the 240, cause it'll be done by then, if you'd like. I'm excited. I love fire. I'll have to bring pics of the fires we have here in Hinsdale. Gotta love not having neighbors! Bigger fires!

Oh yeah , and my car will be at Carlisle, probably in the unjudged field this year. Trav's if it's done, hopefully will be in the judged field. Somebody get a list of who's going to Carlisle and maybe we can all get reservations for the same hotel or nearby ones? Keep spreading the word and thanks for all the help guys!

haha, i think the meet is gonna be soooo fun!

about the Fiero,

I had a party at my house, and this kid(real big nerd) had his fiero parked on the road. well, me and 3 freinds were gonna push it to the opposite side of the road, and we were pushin, and it just went into the ditch. It was soooo funny, then we got like 5 guys and he just gunned it, and it came out. there were muddy tire tracks all through my yard for like 2 weeks. kinda got in a little trouble w/ the parents, but it was worth it. haha

I have a lake house right on Seneca Lake which is about 16 miles straight up the main high way there, so I could take on a few people. I'm at college now but our last day of finals are on the 18th. So as long as everything goes OK I'll drive from SUNY Albany straight to the meet. Sounds like we'll have a good turn out.

We should just make this the NY state forum thread and just keep posting on it to keep in touch with everyone in ny. I notice alot of other forums people do that and they just keep using it.
