Best answer so far.Maverick7687 wrote:Did you tell them or something? I would take a picture of one with a factory exhaust and send it to them. Or worse case just put the factory one on long enough to get renewed then switch it on the DL...
f those jerks, they stink and wont back you up later.Viper5000 wrote:run far away from your insurance company.....
That is not the best answer, that is the dumbest answer. I was with the insurance agent when she appraised my totaled car. They check everything, they use anything to deduct what they are going to pay you.Maverick7687 wrote:Did you tell them or something? Funny but not smart. You get into an accident and they will not pay the bill.Maverick7687 wrote:I would take a picture of one with a factory exhaust and send it to them.
Ask them for a copy of the legal language that they are using for the non-renewal and post it up here - I want to read it and compare it to the insurance statues for Texas - this sounds kinda fishy to me, and it might be a prohibited reason in Texas (TX sucks for insurance law, and really favors insureds). When you put it up I'll be able to help more...zilla19 wrote:So, today my insurance agent told me Farmers won't renew my insurance next month because I put Nismo cat-back on my car, in which they classify my car now as "performance" car. I told them these mods (wheels, tires, HID, intake, exhaust, STB, RSB) are pretty common, do they deny everyone who modded their car? They said they have no problem with other mods, but the exhaust increases HP, which is classified as performance, so they won't cover a car with it. They said these performance mods might cause fire if not installed properly, so they don't want to take that chance of covering it. They told me to put the OEM exhaust back, take the car to my insurance agent, take some pictures, and send them to Farmers then they might reconsider renewing my insurance. I was gonna tell them the intake also increases HP, so why don't they have a problem with it, but I decided to shut up, don't want to give them any more reason not to renew me.
So has anyone ever encountered the same situation?
Wow...I'm not sure if it's just an American thing, but your insurance companies sound like real cheapskates and I'd hate to deal with them. When I totaled my last car, the insurance appraiser came out and cataloged all my performance parts and actually increased the dollar amount I got back, relative to how much money I'd put into it...and that was for a Toyota Echo!dldjros69 wrote:

THIS. Seriously. It sounds like they're just looking for an excuse to cut you. That way, there's zero risk to them - you've been a pure profit for them.mpbclutch33 wrote:I have never heard of that. Sounds like BS! Switch insurance companies anyways, sounds like they won't be there for you if you did have something happen to the car.
I don't know which one this is... But I use Geico.. Been good so far.. and the cheapest I can get..XenonSE-R wrote: I can't remember it's either Geico or Nationwide that will actually include some aftermarket parts in your insurance policy for a little extra a month.
Ok check this out...ESP wrote:

im not sure, but that statement isnt exactly correct.XenonSE-R wrote:Nismo IS OEM.
I had called my insurance company when I was starting to mod my car to ask and they told me if I changed my exhaust the would decline my policy. Before I went ahead with anything I asked them to send me a list of any modifications that would void my policy. Its been months and I havent got s*** but they tell me its on its way. Every time I want to do anything I have to call them and ask first. We are currently arguing about my intake. They seem to think it falls under the category of forced induction. Needless to say they are idiots and can suck my balls.zilla19 wrote:So, today my insurance agent told me Farmers won't renew my insurance next month because I put Nismo cat-back on my car, in which they classify my car now as "performance" car. if you give them a list of mods they will reimburse tyou for them if anything happens.NISMOT wrote:And man I have USAA and all they want to know is what kind of car i have lol
haha she wants to MOD it because its gonna be hers in May..so just let me know how your insurance thing workszilla19 wrote:She wants to mod your car?Dude, your mom is cool IDK, I might just take some pictures of OEM exhaust on and give them to the insurance. I don't think they can even tell the difference between OEM and Nismo anyway, unless they have another picture of the AC to compare it to. I'll be shopping for a new car insurance now.
