Ok guys... I need to rant and need some help.

Let me start by disclosing all my information. I'm a 20 year old male with maybe.. 2-3 speeding tickets ( ) which are not pinned to the 3.5 SE A/C, I have a brother who is 26.Anyways, how that all relates is that everyone in my family is listed under my A/C 3.5 SE 6mT, beginning with my father being primary driver. They are charging us 3000$ a year.

So, today, I decided to call into my insurance company (TD meloch) without stating my name, clearly stating that I want to remain annonymous. I was inquring about what the insurance policy accepted regarding modified cars. Now, I mentioned that i owned an 08 Altima because the REP kept insisting that i provide my number (which i didnt). I asked millions of questions, until they gave me the list of what was acceptable and what was not. So under the unacceptable list they said that.. After market exhaust voids the warranty, any engine mod, SPOILER, side skirts and etc. So i thought that was retarded and asked why the hell would the warranty be voided if you installed a spoiler..

Anyways, after a few questions the rep pulled up my profile ( He used CALLER ID name and matched it with the car) and basically flagged my car. An hour later my dad gets a call at his office saying that the premium is now going up 700$ a year to a total of 3.7k yearly for one car. I also need to get the car checked out by a mechanic.

I am really !@#$#%!@# pissed off because first off, i stated that i wanted to remain annonymous. They did not respect that. Secondly, they raised the @!#@ing price.. WTF? And lastly they want me to get my car checked out by designated mechanic.

I'm calling them first thing in the morning. I will probably be canceling my insurance with them. Ill be needing to find a new broker and etc. I have learned my lesson to never ask questions to a fu**ing insurance broker again. F*** them.

(Not aiming this to anyone on the board)

Anyways, need some advice. Please no flaming... For the first time in my life im dead serious.

Thanks guys.

the whole purpose of the insurance broker is to rape you up the bum as best as possible while you still have no choice but to pay them anyways for their ridiculous services....I just had a fenderbender in my other car. I am absolutely dreading the process to come like no tomorrow.... I am also with TD... I am sure we will be ranting together in the near future, my friend.... as the car that was involved is heavily modded. HOW THE $#@ does a spoiler make your insurance go up1?!?! call them and give a piece of your mind. it may not help, but at least it will make the both of us feel a bit better hahaif you want to start a support group with me, please feel free

3 speeding tickets for me as well. An accident in another vehicle that wasn't my fault but got pinned on me because eye witness statements didn't add up.

= Insurance of $2800.00 a year. I'm 19.

I'm just like **** that, so I asked my mother if she would put me on hers with me paying the yearly fee.

How the **** are you paying 2800$/yr for your altima coupe, I pay 2800/yr with a perfectly clean driving record and over 25 years old, for my 35.SE 6MT??

hot damn spockrock, what insurance company are you with? I'm also with the OP's broker, TD Meloche Monnex, also over 25, and I'm paying about $2600/yr, and this is after I had 2 accidents (where I was considered at fault both times), one where I didn't make any claim, and the other where I made a claim of $2500. Given, those 2 accidents happened on my last car (a Toyota Echo), and they were about 2 yrs ago, but they're still on my insurance record, I'm sure...also, I've only got the 2.5, but still, seems like your premium's pretty damn high.

scandinavian flick - 680/yr??? WOW...I should move to Ohio just for the insurance savings...damn.

Sorry, that's a typo.

Should be 3800/yr.

That's not on an Altima Coupe though, it's on my Saab right now.

the saab is a very safe 4 door car, granted its swedish but still... in comparison before i bought my a/c i was also looking at an 2008 audi TT, the insurance quote was 20 dollars cheaper then the insurance on the a/c, so what is going on in canada? so again, everyone move to ohio, think about it if everyone moved to ohio, think how huge the nico meets would be,

Chow, are they goin to pay for your car to get checked out by a designated mechanic, and if it "checks out" ok are they going to reduce your rates back to 3grand?

In Ottawa here, I have an 08 2.5, clean record and am 21, I pay about $1800 a year with $500 deductible . With belairdirect. I think they might only do ontario and quebec, but they came in at about $1300 below the next lowest quote I got when I had my previous vehicle (03 Xterra SE) when I was 20.

True, insurance is cheap but not worth the move to Ohio (unless you're only choice was between NJ and Ohio), Ohio is BORING! But the insurance is cheap.

Yes I think I am going to call them I did a quote online with them and I would be paying half of what I would.

wow i should be grateful then for what i pay. my husband and i both on same policy. he's 34 and i'm 26. we have and 06 suv and the 08 a/c on it plus renters insurance. the vehicle deductible is 250 and we only pay 1800/ year. oh and one of our last cars an 05 malibu was totalled due to a hit and run so our insurance picked up the tab. and since we were up on all our payments they paid the rest of the 10 grand off that we owed!!! and we finance the next vehicle with no down payment. i love our bank and insurance though it is the same company!!!!

I really doubt that they will lower the insurance back down to 3000 / yr once the mechanic checks it out. ( The insurance pays for the mechanic to check out).

What i mean about void warranties is that if i got into an accident with an aftermarket exhaust ( which i have) they wont pay for my car.

So now im stuck. Do i remove everything? (I can do intake myself) but the exhaust will cost me another 150$ to take off. Then i've wasted a total of 2-3g's on all my mods i have sitting around my house.

WTF.. I am so pissed.

P.S I just called them to ***** about staying annonymous and they said you cant do that b/c if you talk about policy's you cannot stay annonymous. Even though i was asking general questions about modifications. So like i said in my first post, i was inquiring about lowering the car. (I have Eibachs sitting at home). The broker i spoke to about this then loaded up the profile using the name on his caller ID and wrote down " CAR IS LOWERED". I found out today b/c i just called and the broker i spoke to today said that my car was lowered. I need to bring it to a shop now and get photos. They will hit me for the Exhaust, Intake and Tints. ( I say tints b/c an aftermarket spoiler is unacceptable so im guessing tints adds +20000HP too).

Anyways.. I really feel powerless to such a huge corporation. I can't do sh** to them while they can f*** with me all they want.

Egh...time to switch brokers mate!As a rule I try to avoid the "multi-tasking" corporations that sell insurance on the side (ie. TD). Sure, their rates are lower, but their reps treat the system by-the-book and don't really have much concern for their clients...only the dollar figure they provide. Also, when you get in an accident (whether it's your fault or not), they tend to be a bit...umm, sluggish in dealing with you.I'm with Aviva now and I'm paying $2088/year, full coverage...I'm 25, but my driving record only started a year ago so that's why I'm paying so much. Apparently diving a motorbike for four years straight doesn't apply to ones driving record...egh, I hate the bureaucracy of it all...

Dude, you had an Echo too? That way my last car!!! Then it got run over by a negligent city bus...and a minivan............... Hands-down the best-handling car I've ever driven (AFTER mods of course!)

hahaha yeah man, it was great on gas...and also was great off the start from stop lights. I could beat a lot of cars from a stand still, up to about 40km/h or so hahaa...I didn't mod it at all, but yeah it was still a nice car, just felt it was time to move up to something nicer with the A/C.

damn, sucks that your car got run over by a bus! that's messed up...and pretty crazy that something like that would actually happen.
