2088$ a year??!!? That must be in the 2.5 right?

I'm looking around for insurance companies right now.. I've heard that if you insure your bike with them and a car the rates will lower. Ill try around.. I wonder if we have Aviva around here.

Anyways, im stuuck with one last problem. I have one month to get photos taken of my car from a deisgnated mechanic for TD. If i risk doing that i risk losing my policy with TD and when an insurance company refuses you... Almost all of them follow.

Should i bring it in? or should i wait?

If anything ill be removing the air intake. I hear they look really hard for engine mods.

I dunno about Canada, but putting a spoiler on your car and charging you higher rates for it is unfair discrimination in the US - it doesn't do anything to make your car achieve higher performance.

Definatly look for a different agent/insurance carrier. If you can, look for one that has an Actual Cash Value or Agreed Value coverage for the car - your car is covered for a specific amount, not the market value/standard OEM cost. You may end up paying a little more for it, but hell, your at 3700 anyway, it would probably cost the same to do so...I'm not sure who's around in Canada, but if you can find an agent that sells Chubb, AIG, Fireman's Fun, they all have policies that cover you for the actual cost of the vehicle and what you have in it.

Your moving violations aren't exactly going to help since you're young, and even though the policy is in your dad's name, you still affect the premium - just be wary of that...

WOW...so I just got off the phone with belair direct, and the quotes I got are as follows:For the $500 deductible, $1M liability coverage plan, $4135 a year. For $0 deductible, $2M liability, $4494 a year.

I'm 28 years old, and I did tell them about the 2 at fault accidents I had within the past 6 years. I also mentioned that I only submitted a claim for one of them, so this quote was only considering that I had one accident on my record.

The rep I spoke with said that it was high because I was considered to be a 2-star driver due to my accident record, but even if I had been a 7-star driver (ie. clean record), the rates would have been $2300 for the 1st plan, and $2400 for the 2nd plan.

Ridiculous! I'm gonna stick with TD, where I'm paying $2600 a year, with them knowing that I have 2 at fault accidents.

id get the new wheels anyway, does the insurance company know what your stock wheels look like? and if you (for some weird reason) have to have the car inspected by a mechanic before they insure you, just put on the stock wheels and switch the wheels out after the inspection.

the whole thing seems a little odd to me that there is tolerance of modifications ,even in the simplest of manner, in all of canada

Yea dude, that's complete garbage.....I wish I knew more about Canadian insurance so i could help you out...just take everything off when it's looked at and then put it all back on after - i know i have friends that take off exhausts and intakes so that when they get their cars inspected they meet our emission standards and then just throw them back on afterwards...

I feel bad for you though dude....you should be allowed to do what you want to what you own...Good luck with everything...

Ohhhhh i remember being that age and being raped royally by my insurance.

i am currently 33(ish), and 6 years ago, had sold my '00 celica because i was living in the City and never drove. A year and a bit later went and got a 5 year old MINI VAN (to tour with the band... not to be family gay) ANYHOO..... They considered me a BRAND NEW DRIVER AGAIN, and my insurance was 2500 a year for a 2001 MINI ****ING VAN

So, when i got rid of the van, and bought the BRAND NEW A/C, my insurance is actually went down to $80 a MONTH!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I don't know what the **** is up with retarded insurance companies.... They even gave me my first write off free with the A/C????

go figure

Ahh.

They don't allow ANY sort of modifications on your car w/o voiding the policy. Either that or it has to be examined by a mechanic who takes pictures of it and sends it into the insurance company.

So what i'm going to have to do now is.. Put in stock airbox, cant do the exhaust, put my decals back on.. (Im sure to the insurance company taking them off added +200 HP and less weight = super high performance) and some how hide the tints.

If they deem that the car is a "racer" then they wont insure it b/c its too risky. "racer" meaning any modifications, being a spoiler or stickers. So.. I'm really f***ed and if i get my insurance revoked b/c of an exhaust.. Ill be paying 5g's a year or be forced to sell or not drive the car.

I hate how insurance is mandatory. They can do what ever the hell they want and still get away with it. I dont have any freedom with my own car. Pure BS.

im with spock on this one, time to tell that insurance company to F off and find someone else, there has to be an insurance company in canada that isnt stupid.

what about bumper stickers does that make your car a racer, the whole idea of non performance mods making a car a "racer" seems asinine.

if i had an insurance agent tell me anything like that i would laugh and tell them im taking my business else where,

so dude i know its not just you on the policy but your brother and father, but i think you might have to sit down with dad and tell him you all need to shop the market and see if some other insurance company can do better then that, i feel like your current insurance company is hosing you all really bad..

so thats just my 2 cents and then some.. good luck with all this
