Firstly i am in Australia here the Versa is known as the Tiida and my Tiida is a 2009 hatch purchased last Saturday the 14th. I want to wire some leds to the backside of my door handles on the car by connecting them to the dome light so that they will only turn on when the car is either unlocked or a door is opened.Does anyone know where these wires are? or do i have to start from the dome light itself or can i use the little black switch on the frame that the door closes on? Also before anyone says anything about using the search function i have been lurking since Saturday and just wanted to iron out the finer details before i do anything to my baby.

Hey there! I havnt done this specific type of wiring, but i do have a few interior lights installed on my versa. im no pro, but i would hook up the lights to the dome light wire. not too sure if the little switch in the door is for power or anything, but it just seems like the dome light wire would be the best bet once you find it. let me know how it turns out, im eager to see it!

Ok i think i have this down going to follow this guide interior-lighting-using-door-dome-function-t509289.html up until picture 4 for the wiring and then this one diy-door-handle-leds-08-sedan-t524757.html for the actual led installation. one more question are scotch locks ok for this kind of work or should i splice and solder?

lol i had to do a presentation on soldering to my class (even though I'm terrible at it!)
Its always best to solder. Any other types of physical connections have a chance on becoming loose from vibrations and what not. Soldering is the most reliable method.

BUT! On my wiring setups in my car, i did not solder at all, and I don't have any problems with lights shutting off or what not. I just used those quick connect things and other parts i bought from walmart or oreily's, had no problems with them!

if you can solder though, thats the best way do to it!

Can i solder? hehe i have a $250 soldering station and several years of soldering experience. (not to blow my own horn or anything) ;) i just haven't worked on a car before so wasn't too sure.

lol wiring is wiring, so it shld be all good to solder on the car. I just have a cheap walmart soldering iron that was not well maintained, so i can't solder anymore lmao

You know what i think you make a good point i can just hack up the factory harness and use h7 hid bulbs for the main and xenon filament bulb for the high beams

Had to make a change to it. It was annoying driving like that so it know only comes on when the doors are open or the car unlocks. Iw ill upload pictures of the door handles after i finish charging my camera.

how long is the led strip? i have a 16ft led strip, but its not waterproof and I'm afraid to put it under the dash in fear of a passenger accidentally chipping off one of the leds.

Lets see i removed 4 4cm chunks for the doors and then cut it in half that leaves 2 42cm strips. If it has the coating over the leds it will be fine i placed mine on the plastic covering the metal mount for the glove box plenty of leg room for both driver and passenger shouldn't be any danger of getting it wet in the cabin. And it would have to be a pretty spiteful passenger to manage to knock it off.

lol mine doesn't have the plastic coverings. think it should be fine? I'm mainly lazy to install them, and need to buy more connectors for the leds because i can't solder. -__-
