I want to use an autometer a/r fuel gauge on an S14 blacktop. Is it true that you have to buy a wideband O2 senser? Also, to install an a/f gauge you simply splice it into the O2 sensor wiring right?

Oh yeah, how would I go about installing a oil pressure gauge on my SR. I want to use an electronic gauge, so hook it up to the oil pressure sender on the SR?

to get any sort of accurate reading at all you need a wideband o2 sensor and controler, you could just splice it into your stock o2 but it wouldnt do any good, it would just be a light show, and as for the oil pressure, you need to T into the factory oil pressure sensor bung, or just replace it with the new one

Does anybody make a kit for replacing the oil bung that you are talking about? I looked around and found that bosch makes a wideband O2 sensor for a reasonable price. Would the wideband o2 work with the Sr ECU and everything. It probably does, but it would seem that if you mix and match parts it could throw something off. Do you have any experience with the Apexi AVC-R boost controller and the S-AFC fuel controller? I was thinking about getting them when I start my buildup.

oo lord you need to stop an listen cause you seem very new to SRs or true tuning in general

A. You need a T fitting that the factory oil sending unit and the sending unit for the gauge then thread it into the block where the Factory unit use to be.

B. Wideband O2 sensors require a wideband meter to read the output. Putting a wide band on your car and removing the stock 02 will just throw your ecu into safe mode. The wideband 02 has to have its own Bung on the exhuast and wideband meter not that Autometer crap you have now.

Yeah your pretty much well right.

A. Oh damn, that makes sense now. sorry.

B. So what do I have to do to get a true wideband sensor on my car? keep the stock one and also have the wideband one just for the gauge?

Thanks for the info.

you really only need a wideband for tuning, and when you dyno tune they already have a wide band for you

haha, I see.

I plan on buying Apexi Boost and Fuel controllers for my car and thought the the wideband would help me make adjustments myself, instead of going to the dyno to have it tuned every time.

I found a wideband kit from AEM but its close to $400. I know that stuff like this costs a lot a money, but could I buy something like a good Bosch wideband o2 sensor and use it with a good autometer air/fuel gauge? It would save me something like $220. I m also guessing that the new o2 sensor would need a new 12V source run to it also.

no, the gauge will not register the signal form the wideband, you need a wideband controler, look up FAST, they make a nice reader that also acts as a gauge, it can also output a 0-5v signal that the ECU can read, so you could remove your stock sensor and use the signal from the FAST,
