Here's my old one, found out it was from 1998 when I took it out.And here is my new one. Also these are the brackets from the old head unit.Right now the new head unit is just sitting there, I couldn't get the brackets from the old head unit to fit on the new one. Do I really need brackets to keep it in place? Because it seems fine just sitting there.

Also if you see in the picture the new head unit doesn't fit through the center console so the trim around the face plate can't sit on the outside of the center console, it is behind it as of right now. Should i just file the center console down on each side for the head unit to fit through?

Where can I find the little tray to fill in that hole full of wires? Is it better to have the head unit on the top or the bottom?

My lighter is stuck and I have pulled as hard as I can to get it out, any other ideas to get it out?

you need the factory bracket that held the original radio and pocket. i prefer the radio above the pocket so that the shifter doesn't interfere. don't file down the trim to fit that little plastic thing around the face of the radio, that's dumb. in my experience, nissan radio openings aren't big enough to use them. find someone parting out an s14 and snag the pocket along with the bracket if you don't have the old one. as far as the lighter, i got nothing. grab another one from the junkyard.

It doesnt really matter where you put the deck, top or bottom, Ive had mine in both positions with no difference.

As for the lighter, twist, and take it out of the console, then separate the two.

It's just a cubby hole/pocket. You would use those brackets that were holding the old head unit in to do that.

They sell kits for ish like this... You can mount that cd player higher up and have a little pocket to put your stuff in there. Go to a audio store you can cap one for like 15-20 bucks... I got one for my Astro few years back.

They work just fine, and look no different than factory. The problem is that people are too lazy *or stupid* to use the adaptors that they come with to make them work for different vehicles.

At work we have a pocket that's *universal* and i've used it on 240's, jettas, passats, toyotas, etc. And have never gotten complaints from customers on how they look. Just gotta know how to use them, and make em look good. But i'm sure by now he's probably found one.
