Hello I have a walbro 255 fuel pump installed in my tank, but I am interested in removing my tank and replacing it with a fuel cell. I know that certain walbros can be mounted either intank or inline but are all of them capable of this. How could i tell. Before you flame i did search and I don't want a fuel cell but bc of rust and the integrity(age) of my tank i want to remove it. Would it be possible to mount an intank in a fuel cell?

Most people have never dabbled with fuel cells. They take up space, dont hold much, and dont provide any benifit unless it is required by a racing events sanctioning body.

I would bet the info you seek can be found on the walbro website.

That being said, you cannot mount a pump inside of a cell, at least not that I have ever seen. They are not designed for it.

Secondly, walbros run hot, so hot that if you run them dry, they turn inside out in a hurry. I think they are designed to be cooled by the fuel they are pumping, as well as the fuel they are hanging in. I have a feeling that running in line, might shorten the lifespan of the pump dramatically. But that is just speculation.

Cells are expensive, I would just look into getting a new or reman'd factory fuel tanks.

You could also pick up a kit from Summit or somewhere that comes with a cleaner, and a liner, etc to pretty much re-manufacture your own fuel tank. This way you can keep your in-tank walbro and all is well. This liner kit was my path, because I had rust as well.
