I replaced my knock sensors and after a few days power loss again. Checked codes, still had a code 34.
I did the test per the manual and both were open so I guess I got some bum sensors.
For now, I took another harness and sensors from another VH45 I have laying around waiting for a big bore conversion and plugged them in.
I do not have the time right now to spend another 8 hours pulling the plenum off.
I was able to screw the sensors to two bosses on top of the plenum,(one is a throttle cable support, other is not used afaik), using longer 6mmx1.0x25mm bolts. I plugged in the ect, left old harness dangle under plenum.
Took for a road test and power is back and I can't detect any knock. Ironically the code 32 (egr) has also disappeared.
So, I may just make my own new harness and mount the (new, as these are old and cracked but still ohmed out at 5Meg) sensors on the block in a different, more accessible location.
I don't recommend doing this if you don't keep a keen ear out for knock. (Or are boosting, lol.)Otherwise you are fine.
