in my country(japan), it is text book for racer...

and I luv it too... I prefers book to DVD...(I saw both of them..)

DRFT is getting popular...

MT AKINA... (I lived in tokyo though) became the ICON.

ALSO after this manga lots of ppl died or injured...

(downhill DRFT at the maximum speed in real?......well.....)

So, Ive never read any of these books nor have I seen the videos. Can any of the Initial D gurus tell me where is a good starting place for seeing or reading this stuff? It seems like there is so much out there and I want to start at the beginning. Anyone know?

After 20 years with a drivers license... Initial D was the first thing to spark the interest in me for cars. All my life they were just transportation, until I saw Initial D in December 2001. It took me a year to really get my plans together and buy an S13. Now I've had it for a year and I've never loved another car more.

the beginning ;) seriously, you can go pick up the US release right now. TokyoPop is releasing it currently and they are also releasing the books. Do yourself a favor and leave the DVD on the classic setting with japanese voice actors and the original music and sound effects. TokyoPop went too far when they redid the entire soundscape of the series.

240SX-101. isn't tokyo near the gunma prefecture? i'm not too familiar with that region since i lived in the kansai region (osaka) for a while.

i saw initial d after i had my s13, and i love it. i dont care if ppl are scared that it might create wannabe bandwagoners, and that these noobs will somehow destroy the thriving 240sx community. initial d rocks, its just a show, and ppl can watch whatever they want. i saw hannibal, but did i become a trendy cannibal. well, bad example.. ;-)hehehe-Enzo

hey 240sx 101, if your from Japan. you must have some relatives or friends there. why dont you get them to tape the show and put it on cd's or upload somewhere so we can get stage 4. or even by the dvd when it comes out over there, if it has english subtitles i would pay for it.

you'll still need a region 2 DVD player if you do that. we have region 1 players and we can't play anything other than region 1 dvd's

the tokyopop dvd is dual language. so you can watch it the way it was supposed to be. japanese language with the eurobeat music and accurate sfx and everyone has their real names. throw the english dub on and you get horrible names (i HATE the american names), bad rap music, and boring sound fx. and you get the option to further reduce the quality of initial d by putting the "tricked out video" option on where the car races get out of place video effects on them like split screen mirror, ghosting, etc. pretty bad. i leave it on classic

I think A 4th stage would be kinda gay. What they shouldve done is end it at 3rd stage and make like a special stage that showed the days of Bunta racing and his rivals. A 4th stage is just gonna Drag on Initial D till we get sick of it just like our precious Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, they shouda ended that shiznit on the 5th season and kept its dignity but now its been degraded to just a POS show that everyone could give a flyiing fck about (i dont know whoever wathces the suck new shows, theyre like enviromentalists or something now???). I just want to know how bunta raced in his days, but now he gets a WRX which practically makes him invincible now, that just takes the suspense out of the show.

Yea, but itll be cheaper to get the original version. The American DVDs are like $20 for 3 episodes. Correct me if Im wrong, but its not worth it IMO.

Yeah, thats what Ive seen. I saw that the dvds have only three episodes on them and cost about 20 bucks. Are these the best way to start watching Initial D?

if u want to start at the begginning, get the books, u can get ahold of what they call trade paper backs at most book stores (a few issues in one), tho dont count on one place having all of them. u should also be able to find decent versions of a lot of the episodes of the show through programs like kazaa (like downloading mp3z).

they have also made this into an arcade game (sit down with steering wheel), there is one maybe an hour from my house in MD, never played it tho a friend has. im hoping this will come to xbox or maybe pc.

on a side note for anyone looking for decent driving games, u can have a lot of sideways fun in rally games =) (rally sport challenge, colin mcrae 3 and 4, wrc3) and gran turismo 3 is awesome for realism, that also happens to have a rally section to it.

if you want to read about project-d, go find the manga. Lots of em around online and many have been translated. There you will see the power of Bunta in his new STi as he gives the 86 to Takumi. BTW, the Tokyopop stuff sucks. What the hell is "Tak" in place of Takumi and the truncated/stupid names in the TP stuff? If they did replace the music from Eurobeat, they'd be stupid since that was one of the best parts of the anime which my buddies and I refer to as the pump-up musics. Ha ha ha.

like S13guy said guy said i think it would be awesome if they did like a flashback to when Bunta raced teh 86 in his younger days.

Aslo Japican, do you know what the ending songs are called from stage 1 and stage 2?
