Just thought I would start an initial D thread for general discussion about the Anime. The last thread wasn't specifically about the anime and digressed into randomness.

Love it or hate it you must admit that Initial D is doing it's part to bring drifting into the main stream.

I predict that soon we will need a term such that TermA = Ricer + Drifter

I do not however believe that being an initial D fan makes you a "TermA". In my opnion it's an excelent Anime. Heck if nothing else it has made me want to try Tofu (still havn't had the chance).

well tofu is a great food, healthy!

and dont let anyone tell u it sucks coz it doesnt!

back to ur message...

yea of course i love ID, though now drifting has become more popular, so the early birds arent the special ones anymore, but nonetheless, it's great!

i really like the series, if you watch it all the way through in chronilogical order you can REALLY get into. Some of it seems weird to me but i guess its just a reflection of japanese culture.

Tofu kind of reminds me of the Japanese; bland, soft and lacking taste. Tofu is good fried, not sure about Japanese people:pface

realistically. this is a really dated anime. the US is always the last to get anything from Japan. while drifting is a great exhibition-type sport that should be done in legal settings. there will always be an influx of morons when something 'new' comes around.

but i digress.

I-D is awesome. There was a lot of technical thought put into the making of it/and the portrayal of the cars and driving techniques are fairly accurate. i think someone told me dori-ken (forgot his actual name) was a key figure in the production of this series.

tofu IS good fried!what do you know? (and it's only because it absorbs the flavor of what you fry it in. hehe)

Yah i knew what was going on with Mogi and 'papa' but it was kindof something as an american i just didn't want to believe happens. I just thought of the guy as the same age as Takumi.

About the only Japanese foods I don't eat are Natto and Goya. I don't care if you live longer eating it, that's just more years with that vile taste in your mouth, blech!

Mogi and her "papa" is very much no-news to me! given that i came from HK very close to Japan location and culture wise, i can relate to ID probably better than some of you can.

tofu is truely good, and it's a chinese food, not japanese btw, and there are so so many ways to cook tofu, steam, fry, stir-fry, with veggies, with seafood, with beef, with pork...etc...so it's not all that bad being a healthy food!

i think it's a huge misconception or assumption that healthy foods are yucky..

yeah, veggie burgers are bangin' but lets not make this another "Noodles" thread.

Sky, i think the guy your talkin about is Keiichi Tsuchiya (owns Kei Office) He is the "drift king" did that best motoring Drift Bible video and he mentioned something about Inital D and "teaching takumi to drift". maybe thats just a bad translation but thats probalby what you are talking about.

I'm only 21!

I just find that show really damn amusing, must be the 80's flare to it...

GTO is good as well, I need to watch all of it though.

I think another one of my current favs is Full Metal Panic, it's got a little bit of everything.

Anybody ever notice how in anime, Americans are depicted as big dumb, goofy horny guys that wanna fight in almost everything?

I'm guessing there must be a bunch of American guys like me over there...

Hahah and the initial d thread turns to an anime thread. City Hunter is awsome, also HKC ADV released, and is releasing city hunter on dvd. Finally. As far as us not getting stuuf too soon, well thats not always true. Some things come out over here as soon as 6 months after production in Japan. The problem now is that anime is struggling in japan, so companies like adv are over there helping produce and what not. GTO was so damn awsome.

They arent just over here though. They are an american company that operates in japan as well to ge stuff done. Pioneer and bandai are already the japanese. They are slack asses who lolly gag and don't bring stuff out.

Well it's about the only version we can get without resorting to bootlegs. I find the way it was edited quite amusing.

it was alway fun watching DBZ, the fights are like 3 episodes long. Seriously, how long does it take to say Kahmeh yahmeh yah or whatever it is they say? I can do it in like 3 seconds but it takes them like a whole section in between commercials. Me and my little brother had a lot of fun with that show :D

I hate the US dubbed DBZ.All they do is grunt and pant during the fight scenes. Sounded like a porno flick (the fetish kind).

It isn't so quit saying it. GT shouldn't even exist. It should have ended like the manga did.
