Initial D comin to US=GOOD or BAD?

Word is out that initial D is coming to the US...there's a good and bad to everything. Well, I can see the bad part already...more people trying to imitate takumi. I guess the good thing is that I dont have to read the subtitles.

Bad because of idiot drivers trying to drift.

Anime usually loses alot of it's appeal/character (whatever you want to call it) in translation. I personally think it's a bad thing. Plus the dvd sets are getting alot cheaper, I got mine for $20/stage shipped off ebay.

Inidial D is just an Anime about Drifting...Lots of cool cars. Nice 3D Graphics but crappy 2D

Why are you guys keep ragging on civics? First of all, they know that they cant drift with FWD, therefore, selling their civics to get the 240sx's. Second of all, if they all do that, then it turns out that civics will be rare as our 240sx's right now, and vise versa with our 240sx's. I doubt that civics will be rare, but still, i bet there will be some idiots that get FR car and drift, and kill people...blaiming on us FR drivers. In the movie, there is that red hatchback civic...i doubt that everyone wanna be like him. Let them bring the movie over and see if civics kill more people when they drift, or switchovers driving 240sx, out of control when taking corners and kill people when they are out of control. Let's see who's laughing at who. Next time if you want to rag on something, make sure there is a legit reason. Or do say civics (aka ricers), instead of flaming on all civics driver. FYI, the fastest FWD is a civic, FWD unibody is a celica, and what's the fastest RWD? I give props to honda still. 572HP per litter is a pretty damn good looking numbers for a civic, don't you think?

Kenny Tran's civic. Just because that you see civics everywhere, that doesn't mean that every civic driver is a ricer. At least it's safer to drag on a track, than drift. Drifting is fun, yes, but not in everyone point of view. Ripping on civics is like ripping on 240sx, just because this is a 240 forum, it doesn't mean that it's okay to rip on other cars that ISN'T a 240.

we are no trying to say civics in general are POS. Its true there are nice civics out there. but because of their numbers theres got to be couple of them out there with the wrong mentality of wanting to showoff therefor drifting on the streets, fails, runs people or property over then next thing you know So.cal TV Station starts bad-mouthing about Drifting because that particular guy killed somebody. Then soon or later cops will start showing up at your favorite local mountain hangouts busting everyone for tresspassing

I know Civic the car can drift. I have a friend that has a Hatchback that hangs out with us hehehe. but just some of the civic drivers are not that responsible.

as for Initial D...I am against dubbing 100%. I have worked as a translator for groups in anime/drama for a while before...dubbing = changing the story hehehe. I think if US should air the Initial D Series, it should be aired after 10PM.

how do you know that civics driver aren't resposible? Most drivers that run through lawns are people that drive a RWD car, and try to drift anyways. Everyone I know that owns a civic, never drifted. Their beauty of working on the engine is far more than drifting, even though, they all loved Initial D. Of course, if you know your car, the movie Initial D is just another TF&F movie. If you can drift like Takumi in real life, you must be god. For real, ever corners he took were pin point accurate. If you know anything about cars, trying to drift like Takumi is just plain stupid. They can try to be like that guy in the red civic...but I'm sure they want to crash and end up like him, plus, he's the villain, no one wants to be a villain anyways. To make the story short, RWD drivers will make more damage than any civics out there, IMO. Civics = Drag, fun to supe up. 240sx = drift, and fun to drift. Civics + 240sx's = exitement. Either way, there is an art in every automobil. There is also an art call ricers, reguardless of what they drive. It is CLEARLY that in every thread i've read, there is alway a person or two that kept saying civics are slow...i don't know why they even drive a car like a civic...etc. Why are civics become a majority focus here? There are also cars like Rustangs, Cavaliers out there that is over producted...but civics just take all the blame for some odd reason.

Oh, by the way, airing it after 10PM isn't such a great idea...they should just sell it. But however, make it into half hour show could be interesting...from movie to episodes...a different story line...something interesting you know? I already seen that movie like thousand of times and viewing it at 10PM...hmm I don't care...but if they make a new series, i would watch it. Initial D drifting is ILLEGAL btw, it's not on a track, it's on mountains...i rather stick with dragging on the street than drifting...at least i can control my car.

oh i totally agree, i love anime and i tend to watch subtitled anime if and when it's available. i'm sure if its coming to the states we'll have the option of watching subtitled, although even subtitled, they may want to change the storyline.. but what for? i haven't watched it. usually they will just omit things in dubbed anime, because there is no english translation or that they think it won't make sense to 'english people' (i've watched 20 episodes of Rouroni Kenshin in japanese! i couldn't dare to think what Sanosuke would sound like as an american! *shudder* Oro! )

Uhm..I doubt they are gonna change the story line just names like in the manga. if it was to be aired i'd say on adult swim on cartoon network. as for as idiots trying to drift, i doubt alot of people would watch it on tv or buy it, if they were going to do it by now word of mouth would have lead them to kazaa. I don't know what the definition of rice is, except for stickers to cover the rust on your car. If the outside is clean then it's not rice. not all civics have stickers. Even those with stickers have something to back it up. If you dind't address it to me, forget what i just said.
