Sound quality will def be improved over stock. Sorry If I wasn't clear on that...

But remember, your factory deck is putting out, maybe 12-15 watts of power... these speakers would like ~ 100 watts RMS, so you are severly underpowering the speakers. The difference between this and an aftermarket amp would be night and day!

Right now, to hear the music clearly, you'll have to turn it up to higher volumes, at higher volumes, the speakers will start to distort. An amp would allow higher and cleaner sound at lower volumes (compared to non amplified stock deck)....Actually, just getting an aftermarket deck that's putting out about 22 watts RMS would greatly increase the sound of your system as well!
for like the millionth time this thread. I wouldnt really ever run a component set off a factory deck, it needs too much juice. the distortion outweighs the sound improvement.

Hmm... Do you just have that bag? or is there a sub too? use one of the spaces on the side behind a wheel well. other than that you won't really be able to see it. I know some guys disagree with this, but I personally think mounting an amp on the box containing a subwoofer can damage the amp over time. Your dealing with very fine and sensitive electronics, and sub boxes rattle like crazy.

no, no sub box and there wont be one, im not into a lot of bass anymore. just want a nicly mounted amp for my components.

ill have to check out my trunk at how much space i have behind the wheel well, but so far that sounds like a good idea

Should be a little less than a foot. Ive actually heard it best to mout amps vertically. helps them vent and cool more efficiently.

It's nice to see someone giving advice that knows wht they are talking about... You're absolutely right baller... It is a VERY BAD IDEA to mount an amp on a sub box. It just doesn't make sense for the very same reasons you mentioned... yet you still have installers that do it all the time... usually because the customers don't know any better, and that's not their fault!

Some amps have internal fans, which helps them cool. MOunting vertically is the best way for cooling purposes,. but an amp should never really be mounted upside down if you can help it!

in regards to the speakers in the dash, should i just use tweeters from a component set, or would it be worth it to buy new 3.5" speakers?

Idealy, 3.5" would be OK if you had a gooid sound processor going to them. Our cars are using them as tweeters, the Bose setup (Stereo and Amp) have built in crossover frequencies set so that not too much Bass is going to them.

3.5" speakers are wierd in that, they aren't reallt tweeters and they aren't really midrange or full range speakers either.

So I'd sau, if you don't plan on adding a good sound processor , then get the component, and mount the tweeters there. You'll have to use or create a mounting bracket, but that shouldn't be too difficult for the installer to do. Also, you can dial down the frequency of the tweeter via the crossover so that you doo't get crazy treble screaming at your ears!

Well, Ive been starting to get a little wary of crutchfield for some time now. besides the prices being insanely high, I've been noticing that the advice theyve been giving on the a/c has been a little sketchy. Well, I noticed when I looked one day that they only listed one pair of 3.5" drivers that fit the a/c, which seemed odd, but I havnt really thought about it til the other day. It turns out that just as the door speakers arent really 6.5"s, and more importantly they're mounted on the weird bracket, as are the 6x9's, that the 3.5's are on the same stupid design too. it's slightly different, but 3.5"s arent just gonna pop in there.at least not if you have the base system. you'd be much much better off mounting the tweeters there just for ease of installation alone. I didnt even think to take pics, but hopefully doc can get you some since I know he's doin his soon.

I have the Bose 9 speaker setup, so if I wanted to replace the factory speakers would I have to get a signal processor like the JL Audio clean sweep the get good, balanced sound from after marker speakers?

Yes, that would be the best scenario. My new Kenwood DNX-8120 has a built in sound processor that is equal to the JL clean sweep and the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.1 (not the 3sixty.2). In any case, I no longer need a sound processor as everything I need is right here in the Kenwood.

So, I'd say, if you want to keep the factory deck, then get a sound processor!

Hey robert, what would you say are the big differences between the 3sixty.1 and .2? Ive heard the .2 is absolutely amazing, but I havnt had a chance to compare yet. I'm still running on the cleansweep and I love it so much I'm a little wary of trying anything else unless I get it free from my audio shop again.

Well I own the jl audio and I did a test for my audio shop of the 3sixty.1 and I loved it. The sound quality was pretty much the same in terms of improvement over stock, but my phone is a palm centro, and the rockford fosgate is controlled by palm devices. It was so cool! so the 3sixty.1 scored some major points on that, but both processors do the same thing and are hidden after the install, so just get whichever you get a better deal on.

Well, this is the thing about the 3sixty.1... when hooked up to OEM systems, Rockford has had A LOT of complaints above interference and engine noise coming through on the system. NOw there could be a number of reasons for this, but I beleive a lot of it has to do with folks using poorly shielded CHEAP RCA's with their setups, that combined with running the RCA's down the same side of the car as their 0/1 Gauge power wire. The combination of the two is sure to cause some interference (I must say that I've also heard some folks having interference with the cleanweep)

Regarding the 3sixty.2, its just bananas.

Here. read this and you can see what folks are saying about comparsions between the 3sixty and the cleansweep

http://www.bimmerfest.com/foru...64369

Read this for comparisons between 3sixty.1 and 3sixty.2.. the main difference is in crossover and EQ adjustments!

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com...06187)

ALso, the reason there are less folks complaining about interference with the 3sixty.2 may have to do with the fact that most folks that buy that unit are LESS LIKELY to go el cheapo on the RCA cables, and are most likely to have their install done properly!
