So after installing the Injen intake i really do notice an increase in the VQ growl. It's identical to the g35 but not nearly as loud. Im still not understanding how they could use the SAME engine and block the sounds ??

I wonder if anyone will ever find out how to make their VQs roar. One step closer to that VQ sound.. mmmm.

If the 4th gen altima's have a resonator as big as the 3rd gen's, then thats what you will want to target to get the G35 sound.

Getting a smaller resonator with a new exhaust system will get you what you want.

I installed my injen intake from stillen monday morning: i think the sound is perfect from the inside. After pushing it for a couple hours I let my friend push it down the road so I could listen to it from the outside and the roar was perfect from that aspect also

Will installing the intake on the 2.5S going to have the same sound as when it's installed on the 3.5SE??? My mom used to have the G35 and I loved the way that car sounded and would love to make mine (2.5S) sound as close as possible.

No, it will not sound the same. The 2.5 will sound more raspier and probably a little more high pitched.

Still worth doing on the 2.5. A number of us have implemented this mod and it sounds great.

안녕하세요! The sound isn't exact, but it is very close; especially in-cabin. I posted a couple of vids in my how-to install thread. Do a search if you want to hear them.

With the CVT is sounds quite solid. In a 6sp as you reach the shift point you will get a loud brief increase in sound. The same should be true of non-CVT automatic Altima's with the VQ.

In the lower gears my fujita is pretty calm until 4.5k~ RPM's too but thats probaby because if I put so much throttle in low gears I'd hit something

Besides that G35/350z 'growl' has more to do with the resonators they use.

How does the fujita sound? I have the 6mt 2.5 so fujita might be my only choice since the injen prob won't fit when I get it.

The 6 cylinder VQ is gonna have a different sound than the 4 cylinder VQ.As is the same with most cars with a jump in engine series. 3-4-5-6-8-10-12.

maybe with an intake and exhaust, it'll be closer... but my guess is that it'll just be louder. The VQ is legendary for a reason, hard to duplicate that!

You mean 4 cylinder QR. There is no 4 cylinder VQ.

No they aren't. There's a 2.5 liter VQ if thats what you are talking about. If thats the case, thats also a V6.

o haha i read it completely wrong online. I was thinking all the lower number VQ's in japan were 4 cylinders. But apparently they made a 2.0, 2.3, and 4 - 2.5L 6 cylinder. Strange. My mistake.

so how do you replicate the g35 exhaust note on a 3.5 coupe? I read from above that they use different resonators, and that's the main issue?

What else must you change in order to replicate the note? Since its the same VQ, guessing you just change the resonator? or different pipings as well?

shall ask in the G35 forums as well.
