then is it possible to fit a G35 resonator onto a altima coupe?

With welding, yes. But why go through the trouble just for a resonator? (an OEM resonator at that). I know for certain that the Nismo catback should give you that sound with a little bit of power on the side.

well would'nt buying a G35 resonator, and welding it on cost less, then buying a whole nismo catback for around 800?

The G35's exhuast is daul piping... Ours is single. That would affect the sound a good amount, not just the resonators

just get a nismo cat..unless you really want to weld a g resonator, and get the dual piping done..that seems more costly than a nismo cat

Go steal/trade in your altima buy a G35, take off the infiniti badge, and put on the Nissan with the ALtima on it, Now you have a Perfect g35 sound .

Does the G35 have dual intake?

I think so. Not sure though. Because I know that I saw dual intakes for the Z and the G37

If it does, then perhaps that adds to the sound, making it even that more elusive when trying to duplicate it!

maybe he should've just bought the G, Cuhz i remember he was debating on a civic si or altima coupe, cuhz he couldnt get the G..should've waited? not tryna to be mean, but i think its pointless to replicate everything on a G onto a altima coupe.

Yeah, a brand new 2.5 A/C goes for about the same as a 2006 G35 coupehttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

In any case, I went with the brand new 3.5 A/C over a used G35 for a number of reasons.. Never looked back... but I'll tell you, the G35 sound is a thing of beauty!

That is true. Our car is unique in many things. U dont see g35 owners putting push buttons in their cars. Everyone's unique.

Doesn't the medallion touring exhaust from Tanabe make the A/C sound like the g35?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=am_LIYfghJI

please forgive me for my terrible disgusting car terminology that will be used in the next couple sentences lol.

to me honestly, the tanabe exhaust isnt deep enough or doesnt have that long of a single note. (maybe the camera mic just doesnt do it justice) like on a G when you turn the car on or rev it, each step on the pedal gives the exhaust note a prolonging sound. where as the tanabe's really short.

a very dumb way of showing a comparison lol, (please forgive me):altima coupe:vrooom

G35:vrooooooooommmm

ok now i'm dumb with my opinion.

wow i seriously wasnt ganna go into this thread...but wat the heck

to be honest, a g35 has its differences, why try to copy it so much? why not make it sound nice or nicer in a different way? it doesnt have to sound like a g35 to sound the BEST

and i kno that the g35 has a dual intake (atleast the 07's have dual) and like others said they have different stuff like the resignator and dual pipe

wait til a nice exhaust u like comes out and buy it, and ul have a distinct sound, which differs from the g35 but yet sound nice...and be happy :D

it's probably pointless to try and mimic the g35 sound since there is basically 3 different sound versions, the 280hp 04-06/ 07+ 306/ and the 330hp g37.

You guys are trying way too hard. Its an Altima, not a G35. It will never sound EXACTLY the same.

Listen to this, its close enough to me.

I'm not sure what else is available for the 07, but the mossy performance exhaust for the 3rd gen made it sound about the same too.

The G37 no longer has the VQ, so of course it'll be a little different.

Here in Canada we pay 40g's for the 3.5 A/C and about 50-60k for the G37.Yeah, its a rip.. We even have those BS "Same price as the states" sales, which lowers the price by 3-5k IF u pay in CASH.

Anywho, i didnt kno the G37 got rid of VQ nice to know that now..

Keep in mind guys. It isn't just the "G35" sound. It's the 350z and FX35/45 sound too. THey're all identical.

The G37 DID NOT get rid of the VQ. It is running the VQ37HR. It is still a VQ series engine.

Come on dude, you know what I meant... since 1995, when we've reffered to the VQ, it's been the 3.5L VQ. They've tuned the VQ35 diffferently over the last 13 years, but the VQ37HY isn't just a differently tuned version. It may be from the same basic platform, but i don't know if I would lump it together with the other VQ's for the past 13 years. So on one hand, yeah its still a VQ, but on the other, its really a different beast !

Hmmm he's right, they have an entirely different exhaust setup than the Altima's do. Also counting the fact that the G35 is a RWD veichle this may have something to do with it as well.

The Nismo catback does sound like a G35 a little but that droning would make my ears bleed.

True, like the transition from the VQ30 to the VQ35. But regardless, the VQ35 and the VQ37 doesn't sound entirely different.

No they don't sound entirely different, you're right... i haven't heard the G37 up close, but every tweak of the engine, intake, exhaust, changes the sound. I mean the 350Z and G35 were tuned almost identical, and they DID NOT sound the same at all. I can't imagine the G37 sounding identical to the G35. It may be better, may be worse...any comments? Does anyone know how the G37 sounds compared to the G35?

I do. It sounds bit more "beefier" than the G35 at low revs.

All of the VQ's have a similar tone. The only reason why you can't hear it in a stock 3.5 altima is mainly because of the enormous resonator. I'm telling you, if you only want to change out ONE thing, change the resonator or just get rid of it entirely. That will make the engine louder which in turn, gets the "G35ish" sound.
