yes yes i said it into a 1979 chevy camaro now some qusetions i need answered are as follow....

1. im planing to make it all wheel drive by getting a front clip now i cant really find out if the skyline has a defined frame (uni-body or full) im would think of it being a full frame but i could be wrong...

2. also what skylines were all wheel cause i have read some can be rear only by chance and i would like to know for sure

but hear me out i picked this car up for 400 bucks and its solid with a 6 cyl in it and a 350 small block is just over played so i though to change things up by going all wheel and placeing a RB in it.

any in put would be great.

no not really i didnt even like the movies all that much i just want to do something else then just putting an all too common 350 in it and if it can be done swaping the all wheel drive as well it would make it one of a kind with go.

well not nessarly yes there will be tweeks here and there but what i need to know is the frameing of the skyline, wheel bases, and so forth cause i im thinking fo just using the skyline frame to keep the fabing down.

I hate to be the d!ck, but if you have to ask these questions, you probably don't have any business swapping in an RB, nevermind trying to convert it to AWD.

I will go out on a limb here and say that EVERYTHING will have to be fabbed. ALL of it.

well i do have to say thanks for the vote of help thats great

but im looking to see from somebody who knows the skyline to help me out with my theroy of useing a front clip under the camaro if that would be possible instead of trying to make the awd under the camaro body. thats why i need specs of the skline to see how the numbers match.

but you know thanks anywas "d!ck"

My advice to you is walk away. It is something that would take a ton of work and at best be nothing more than a curiosity. I would suggest you instead look at grafting a camaro shell to a modified syclone frame.

to do a awd comaro with a rb26 is cool but you can take the motor and put it in the camaro with some mounts makeing it rwd.to make it awd is not ez .go rwd .gtr is awd gtt is rwd. good luck

to make it AWD you will need the skyline GTR's entire drive train and suspension. and unless you wanted the car to fall apart you would need a custom frame.

you could buy several GTRs for what this would cost you to build.

thats what i planned to do useing the skiline frame and streching to to fit under the camaro that way i wouldnt have to fab the awd to the camaro frame that i know would never work thats why i wonder if the skyline has a full frame under it cause that would make things much easier but if it is a uni body i would have to make a frame and convert the rear end supenison of the camaro to the skyline.

the Skyline has no frame, it's a unibody. You are proposing a very serious project with very little return on the investment.

you're better off starting with an astro van AWD base....im being serious when i say that. most of the custom awd muscle cars start off with the astro van base

Man that is the gayest idea I've ever heard of. Seriously. Just get a 454 or an LS1 and call it a day.

Not all unique swaps are cool.

Although this would be quite a novelty item, like mad said the investment and personal satisfaction wouldnt be there.

I have an 81 camaro in my garage.Same as the 79. The car is also unibody with only a subframe up front. It weighs in at a heafty 5000lbs, the front suspension set up with upper and lower control arms would be imposible to install front diff and axles without complete fabriaction of a new front suspension. I have worked and driven this car several times over the last 20+ years. This car is only really upgradable for straight line performance. The handling in twisties is hideous. Like these guys are saying go with either the common small block configuration of an lt/ls or go for a bigblock and enjoy the car. Unfortunitly being in california I am limited to the pre 95 lt swap to keep it street legal with perfomance options.

Unless you have LOTS of money to blow and just want a novelty item with no real gains stay away from your propsed swap.

There you go Wayner. Slap GTR emblems on your 6 cylinder "muscle car" and call it a day.

the correct way of doing the AWD swap, and its been done on many late 70`s pre 84 vetts .is by using the GMC Syclone drivetrain
