I hear that...Ive been driving my bronco II for almost 6 months now because my 240 has been non-functional. Finally got the thing rebuilt a month ago and crap has been breaking ever since. Probably only got to put 20 miles on it till it was broken enough its down for awhile. First after rebuild the ignitor chip burnt out. Made an ignitor and realized the #3 injector was dead too. Found a new injector from the junkyard. Car still ran crappy, but lasted for a couple days till the lower timing chain snapped. I dont want to pull the engine to get the oil pan off to get the oil sump off to take off hte front cover to replace the chain. And I really dont want to pull the head again to see if it bent valves. So bronco II it is :-(

I guess I could say on the plus side I now know how to make an Ignitor chip for KA24DE. Im currently looking into making them for SR20DET. But if someone needs one for KA24DE gimme an email. The external ignitor from S13s anyway.

I would go through withdrawal too if I couldn't drive my 240. I have moments where I just have to go out and drive somewhere. I love my 240 and will love it even more after I get it turbocharged....woohoo for turbo's. :-D

Havn't driven my 240 since Nov. It is so hard and so sad. But that should all change next week. My swap is done, i just have random electronics that need to be installed. The big hold up on my swap is i need the clutch pedal assembly, the jdm one off the clip doesn't work. Hopefully i find one soon, nissan wants 350 for a new one. THATS rediculous. :(

I bought mine last January (in 2002) and have never driven it when it ran right.

#3 cylinder was out from detonation (KA-T) and I'm still screwing with it....swapped motors and too much other crap to list.

I think I win.....hands down.

But I do have my "beater" 95 S14 to drive every day (automatic though :( )

yes, j-spec, good luck buddy, and ive (sadly to say) heard quite a few complaints about daunt's engine delivery, did he give you an approximate wait time??, and also, TEAM23RULZ, ive seen you around on NICO lately, and was wondering where u usually have meets and such, or if you've found a track around here, and ANOTHER question, ive never heard of team23 motorsports, where is it at, a specialty shop, o, and just incase you havent noticed, im from roun here too

I'm about to join your sad little koffeeklatsch, seeing as how my timing chain decided to do its best imitation of Indiana Jones' whip this morning. I am dejected. I suppose I should look on the on the bright side, it may provide me with the impetus to finally invest in an SR swap.

I hope so too, but I'm not optomistic.

I don't think the chain broke, but whatever was going on under that front cover was nasty-sounding. *sigh* and I was just telling my friends how great mine was running, too...

but you have a nice beater , '01 Camaro Z28 (the beater)I know the 240 is a sweet car and everything but if i owned a 01 z28 and a 240 i would be working on the z28 and using the 240 as the beater.

Update: got home from work, nice and warm out (78 degrees). Was in the low 50's this morning when I tried to start the car and heard the mechanical thrashing.

Debating my options...pacing...my wife walks in, I tell her what happened. She grabs the keys, starts the 240 up...

and...no sound at all. runs perfect.

WTF?

I drive it around for 25-30 miles, no problems. Runs like it did before. No timing chain noise, no nothing. Who freakin' knows...I must have some voodoo curse or something placed on me in a previous life. Either that, or I just didn't have enough coffee.

It seems like the more I drive the 240, the less problems it has...maybe I should alter my (beater) designation after all, eh?
