I'm not trying to dig in and argue against getting one or anything, but I thought I would lend some experience as I've operated plenty of sequential pattern shifting on motorcycles.Chris28 wrote:Not having to think about what gear you are in and where the next gear you want frees up a lot of time/energy/effort that you can put into actually drifting.
Not the same model, but yes they will custom make a sequential shifter to mate with whatever you want.nwmrkt wrote:im sure you can run this with some straight cut gears for a nice combo? yes
It's true it also has downsides to it, but a lot of pro D1 drivers have Ikeya Formula shifters, or similar (big teams have HKS trannies and other dog boxes) so I'm sure it will be alright.mattblancarte wrote:

I bet you that Teddy will be guessing what gear he is in WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more when he adds the Ikeya shifter. Luckily, Ikeya knows this because they are awesome, so they give you a gear indicator with the kit.
You think he will be looking down to check the gear mid-corner?
Bottom line is that it MAY add to his consistency. It may also mess him up until he re-learns his techniques the first few sessions after the install.
Definitely. Getting used to the RHD will be a feat too! Haha.mattblancarte wrote:I'm sure if you had that Ikeya shifter you'd run as well, or even better than you do now. Might just take a few sessions to change your habits.
I'm right there with you. I see the big dawgs and their shiny equipment, and immediately want it too. Too bad the way I want to do it would cost me $15k or more. And that would only last me like 2500mi before overhaul service.
Hehe too badass. RHD is pure sechs.S13Teddy wrote:

And yes, we all wish we could afford straight up racing gearboxes, but if we could afford those, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be driving these cheap cars
Haha sorry! I meant if I could afford a racing gearbox, I wouldn't be driving these cheap cars! :Pmattblancarte wrote:

Hey now, speak for yourself. I've got some decent rides. I didn't say I wasn't eventually going to a racing gearbox.
Good point, but maybe it's different with drifting vs road racing. The only time I care about what gear I'm in is when I'm entering a corner. After that, if I need more "room" then I upshift, if I need more power then I, well I usually just kick the clutch haha. All that's going through my head is that I need to upshift, not what gear I need to upshift to.mattblancarte wrote:

Yeah, I think we're all on the same page here.Chris28 wrote:Definitely not trying to argue, just thinking from a different perspective.
LOL, Ok.S13Teddy wrote:I'm just showing that the movement is actually really fast. Actually faster than H pattern shifting in my opinion.
Whatever you say.assassin7420 wrote:
IMO, This thing is pretty much ranked right up there with the fake brake rotors to slap infront of drums.
Yeah it's gonna be higher, but it will look like BUSINESS. I think it looks rad.crakin wrote:I keep thinking about the height of the shifter after install and wonder if it would be ugly, aggravating, or just weird. Don't really know but I for sure don't like grinding gears so maybe this wou;d limit that to some extent.
