Great advice as usual from MoD. I was leaning towards The Orange Box to begin with. The original HL was my favorite game until FFVII came around a year later. I was following Portal when it was a seperate side project before the Orange Box was announced, and I still really want to play it.MinisterofDOOM wrote:I own them all except Two Worlds.Of the three I own, Orange Box gets played the most and is without any question the best.
Eternal Sonata is an excellent game, though. It's even more fun when you have another person to play it with (sort of coop/shared control).
TF2 is a far, far, far better multiplayer game than Halo 3 and Halo 3's singleplayer campaign is to the Half Life 2 saga what a 20 year old Hyundai is to a Maserati Quattroporté.
Definitely get the Orange box. Even if HL2 isn't your thing, Portal is an absolute MUST play game, and TF2 is great if you're the XBL multiplayer FPS kind of person.
My computer is a little sluggish now, as I built it about 5 years ago. The video card is only 3 years old, but thats still old for hardware. That said, I would prefer to have net lag over video lag, especially if everyone else is lagging too. On the console everyone will be in the same boat, but on the computer I will be at a disadvantage.OldmanPurdy wrote:Orange Box but I would reccomend getting it for PC if you can, the 360 version only has 16 player support and the lag is alot worse than any other 360 game i've played. I can't comment on Eternal Sonota beyond what I've watch my girlfriend play, I can say it has the most inspired visuals I have ever seen in any RPG, but it also has alot of children characters and that tends bug me.
Dont worry Ryon, one day I will have Halo 3 as well. I'm just not in an absolute hurry to buy it. And when I do, everyone else will have been playing for 6 months and I'll just get raped every time I log on. I'm sure it will still be fun though.redtop91 wrote:Halo 3 for the multiplayer. Orange Box for just plain fun. Portal is stupid fun and quirky and all of the Half-Life's rule but yeah TF2 is kind of laggy but future patches will fix that, just as any Live game. Halo 3 online is ridiculously fun.
Looks like its going to be the Orange Box.s13jus10 wrote:If I could vote twice, it would be towards Orange Box & Eternal Sonata. Both really great games (well, OB is 5 really great games hehe). I just voted OB instead of ES because I don't want to see Halo 3 win
with OB, expect a lot of "indoor" close-combat shooting, as opposed to Halos wide open fields.
Two Worlds is okay, but I would still rather point you in the direction of Oblivion.
I take it thats ending Sunday? I'll try and get out there today (Saturday). Thanks for the heads up.s13jus10 wrote:buy it at Best Buy. it's on sale this week for $49.99
Amen thats the main reason i play console games online, i may not have a super high resolution, mouse & keyboard, aimbots and other hacks but I can be damn sure nobody else does either.xekushnr wrote:My computer is a little sluggish now, as I built it about 5 years ago. Probally the same reason that despite its many flaws and generic gameplay it got 10/10 in every second gaming publication.MinisterofDOOM wrote:How the crap is Halo 3 winning?
You are most likely right because people feel like they can put in their 2 cents while not even trying the other games. This is why gamers have a bad rep. because of the fact that gamers are close-minded, and refuse to listen to reason. I have seriously lost confidence in the gaming community as a whole after I found out that games like Bioshock got a 10/10. No game deserves a perfect score because they all have flaws. (Although the Bioshock was good it was not perfect).MinisterofDOOM wrote:How the crap is Halo 3 winning?
Oh, I know, no one who voted for Halo 3 has actually played the other 3 games.

People actually play co-op?? Co-op is so lame man, the only cool co-op is at arcades with the light guns (remember arcades?)bmike818 wrote:my vote goes to Halo 3, people like to put the game down because its so popular. I dont play my Halo3 that much anymore, but its the 4 player coop that put it past the orange box in my opinion.
well team-deathmatch counts as co-op, doesn't it? and team-deathmatch is the pwnz0rz on ANY game......................... except Halootterman wrote:People actually play co-op?? Co-op is so lame man, the only cool co-op is at arcades with the light guns (remember arcades?)
Co-op is usually ment as two people playing a single player campaign.s13jus10 wrote:well team-deathmatch counts as co-op, doesn't it? and team-deathmatch is the pwnz0rz on ANY game......................... except Halo
Oh yeah, I forgot it came with Hl2 and Ep1. I already had them before I bought The Orange Box.MinisterofDOOM wrote:Yep.
Except you forgot about Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 1 as well.
If you don't know what The Orange Box or Half-life2 is then you obviously don't keep up with videos games.greatcountysky wrote:Hmm, that's a tough one. I haven't played Halo 3 yet, but I can imagine it's pretty good. At the same time, Eternal Sonata is a pretty cool RPG. I haven't played Two Worlds and I haven't even HEARD of Orange Box, so I can't help you there. I guess it just depends on what you feel like - you want a shooter, go with Halo 3; you feel more like an RPG, go with Eternal Sonata.

I wager I know more about video games than you do. Just because I don't obsess over Half-Life like it's the second coming (or because the video game magazines tell me too) doesn't mean I don't know video games. I've kept up with video games since that Atari 2600. You want to talk Halo, I've beaten Halo on all the difficulty settings by myself. I own an X-Box, a Playstation 2, an X-Box 360, a Gamecube, and a PSP. I'll be buying a Wii with my tax return money here soon. So don't tell me I don't know what the hell I'm talking about just because I don't know, and don't give a ****, about the Orange Box. Yes, I know what Half-Life 2 is - I just hate PC games and refuse to play the inferior port for X-Box 360. Plus, I like to play a WIDE variety games - so EXCUSE ME for not being a part of the massive circle jerk around Half-Life 2. I'm too busy playing Elder Scrolls IV on X-Box 360, Final Fantasy Tactics on PSP, Ninja Gaiden (On the Very Hard setting) on X-Box, Ghosthunter on PS2, and Metroid Prime 2 (on the Hard Setting) for Gamecube. So I've got my hands full - but hopefully I'll be able to muscle through since I don't know what the hell I'm talking about and I don't know anything about video games.otterman wrote:

And wait... so you havn't played Halo3 and don't even know what Half-life2 is but you recommend Halo3 as a better shooter? This is why people get stuff screwed up on their cars, idiots with no knowledge on the subject come in and give them "advice" when really they're just talking out their ***.
