So I've got my hands full - but hopefully I'll be able to muscle through since I don't know what the hell I'm talking about and I don't know anything about video games.

Wow great rant and all but it dosen't change the fact that you are recommending Halo 3 over Orange box because

I'm recommending based on the fact that I've played the crap out of Halo and pretty much know what to expect from Halo 3 from the reviews I've read. Since I didn't even know what Orange Box was, and even now that I know, I recommended Halo because I've never played the games in Orange Box and i know for sure that Halo is fairly solid. Yeesh, I don't even know if I want to play Orange Box if the people who play it are such defensive, elitist jerks about it.

Sure you do its amazing and besides a few defensive jerks like us are nothing to the amount of 12 year old frothing at the mouth retards you have to deal with in the Halo series (or any Xbox live game but mostly Halo), notice how we haven't questioned your sexual preference or resorted to ethnic slurs thats an improvement right?

FAN BOY ALERT FAN BOY ALERT!!!

This thread has turned into Orange Box VS Halo3.

You havn't played Orange Box and have just played the **** out of the Halo3... so you're just assuming.
you, moron wrote:I don't know, and don't give a ****, about the Orange Box. Yes, I know what Half-Life 2 is - I just hate PC games and refuse to play the inferior port for X-Box 360.
THEN STAY OUT OF THE CONVERSATION. You dont know about the Orange Box and don't even care about it. You make a assumption that one game is better then other, and acknowledge that you know jack-**** about one of the said games. It's like you're setting yourself up to fail.

I'm not being a defensive elitist jerk. I'm just saying you're sitting here telling people Halo3 is better but you're admitting you don't know what the hell you're talking about by saying you've never played the other game. I'm just making sure people understand you're a moron and you are making judgment calls based on only one piece of information, much like a 12 year old would.

wow... everybody has different oppinions and preferences. I do agree though that you can't ever have a true comparison between two things until you have tried them both. Because until you do... you're just assuming.

Knowledge and experience are everything.

I agree with that - it's just that otterman is an ******* plain and simple. There are better ways to make that point without being a total d!ck, which is the route otterman went. "Waaah, how dare you say Halo 3 is better than Orange Box! You don't know video games! Waaah! You're a moron!" Then he has the gall to call ME a 12-year-old AND a fanboy! WTF? I'm not the one flaming people for expressing a contrary opinion. Otterman - Why don't you climb into your Orange Box and shut the **** up.

You do act like a 12-year old fan boy, mainly because you're having an extremely difficult time figuring out what's being said about you.

I dont care if you think Halo3 is better. I never said anything to anyone else who has said that.

I care that the fact you're making a judgment based on only one side. You've played Halo3, thats it. And you're saying it's so much better.

Everyone else has played both and expressed their opinion except you. You're being a fan boy saying Halo3 is better without ever playing OB.

It has nothing to do with you liking Halo3, its EVERYTHING to do with you're boasting Halo3 being so much better when you've never played the other game. If you've played both and like Halo3 better, that's awesome. But that's not what you are doing here.
you jackass, you wrote:it's just that otterman is an ******* plain and simple. There are better ways to make that point without being a total d!ck
Know whats neat? I know that I'm huge asterisk so does everyone else and I'm ok with that. There are ways to make a point (if it's a better way, thats you're call) but this is the most fun way. Specially when thick headed people like you can't see whats really being said (aka, saying your a ****tard for bragging about halo3 being better when you've never played the other game)

Actually, he said he hasnt played Halo 3 either, he just likes the original and has read enough reviews to know he will like it. I'm with otterman on this one. Just because you dont obsess over HL2 doesnt mean its not a good game. You believe theres a massive circle jerk around HL but NOT around Halo? You must be completely oblivious then. Most of us like variety too...but I beat Oblivion over a year ago and Tactics on PSX. Its good to see an open minded person such as yourself refuse to play games based on God knows what kind of backwards mentality. Take a look at the posts, maybe that defensive elitist jerk is you.

To EVERYONE, we're all gamers here. There is no need for name calling. This includes calling someone a 'fanboy.' If you have a point to make, make the point. Insults do nothing to help anyone's argument....EVER. This is a fairly casual part of our forum which is here for us to share interests outside of our common automotive interests. I'd hate to see vacations, banning, or thread locking as a result of some relatively petty issues. If you feel compelled to talk some trash, go play an online game and do it there...

Orange box, great deal. If you can't decide, a Gamestop rental is always a safe way to check.

I personally can't stand TF2...too little ways through a level, especially with 32 people on a server. Almost as bad as Cs Source. Everyone knows where you will be so there is no longer any excitement to it, no surprises. Everyone just running at each other guns blazing. This is in general of course...there are some maps that are better at this than others.

Yeah lol, I bought the Orange Box a long time ago.

I still do need to get Lost Odyssey though, why do you recommend the Euro version Nali?

I just picked up the Star Wars Lego Game. The game is loads of fun. Its not a visually stunning game, but its tons of fun. Lots of funny stuff in it too. Looks like it might have a ton of replay value as well as there are parts of the levels where I'll have to go back in freeplay mode with other characters to get some unreachable items. Not to mention you can go back and play each episode in a timed mode where you have to complete it within an hour and with a certain number of studs(money). Best $20 I spent in a long time.

Lego Star Wars is fantastic. I bought the 2nd one for 4 different systems. Then when the Complete Saga came out, I traded my 360 version of LSWII for it. It's even better, with some much-needed upgrades/refreshes to the (lesser) original Lego Star Wars game. I bought the Complete Saga for my younger brother for Christmas, too (the Wii version in his case).

Even though it's not visually stunning, the game still looks nice. On the more powerful systems, there are a LOT of shiny reflective surfaces that look fantastic. There's a lot of detail for a game based on blocks.

The games really shine, though, when played with friends. Lots of good times. "Oh, crap, sorry Chewy! I didn't mean to blow you up AGAIN!"

And yes, there is a LOT of replay value, as you're always wanting more studs. A tip for earning studs: the very first level of Episode IV is excellent for income. Especially after you have bought some stud multiplier extras. Also, Darth Vader counts as a Force user AND a Storm Trooper, so he should be one of the first people you buy as he pretty much fills out your cast in free play. Boba Fett is the best Bounty Hunter thanks to his rockin' gun, rocket pack, and unlockable bounty hunter rockets.

I cracked up laughing when the GF was assigned to play Chewy and she started to rip all the storm trooper's arms off. ON that part, I got stuck with Yoda. I kept accidentally killing her with him. His attacks are wild.

Thanks for the tips. We've got one more chapter on episode III so we'll get vader soon. We're pretty much buying anything we can afford everytime we end our session. We have plenty of mini-kits to go back for so we'll likely be picking up plenty of studs then as well. About my only complaint is that the characters are tethered by the camera. So its hard to do anything away from each other, and there is a tendency to accidentally pull players off of ledges. Then again, its also been a source of laughter too. I'm thinking this would make an awesome stoner game as well.
