Are there many things much nicer than the Pacific Coast Highway on a sunny California day?
:yesnod . agree, spectacular views, well, until it falls into the PAcific when the big earthquake hits. (j/k) . I know a lotta folks bash California, but if you haven't spent time there, northern California (especially in/around San Francisco) is awesome too. Besides little or no snow, you've all the great stuff San Fran has to offer, plus drive a short distance north and you're in Muir Woods (home of a great grove of Redwoods/Sequoias (the tree, not Toyotas), a little further to wine country, or go a little south and hit Monterrey/Pebble Beach/Carmel/Laguna Sega, the list of fun stuff to see/do there is endless. I wouldn't mind living there (even with the earthquake risk).

1. Mountains and lots of nice scenery
2. Good school system
3. No or very lax vehicle inspections and emissions
4. Plenty of great driving roads
5. A good job market for me and the wife

As far as hate goes;
1. Stupid traffic laws and crooked cops.
2. Very traffic heavy areas.
3. Long commutes(over an hour)
4. Lack of shopping within a reasonable driving distance.
5. Hot weather. I HATE hot weather, but a couple of months of it would be tolerable.

I do not. I love the cold weather and I love snow. To me this is normal KY weather and it's been over 2 years since we've had it.

I would have to visit a few more states before making a decision.
I haven't seen enough of the US yet.
I like Arizona the most, from what I have seen so far though.

If I could choose one city to move to...

...without hesitation, it would be Winter Park, Colorado. The people are amazing; people from all over the world travel to this quaint little town. Most come for the ski season - some end up staying there for life. I met a 50-something the last time I was there and he had arrived there on vacation 15 years ago...never left.

Its proximity to Denver, Rocky Mountain National Park, and the BEST driving roads I have experienced put it at the top of my list. The cost of living is on the affordable side, and jobs are easy to come by.

I miss it!

LA metro is an endless sea of concrete sprawling wide and far. It's a bit depressing at times.

Nice thing about where I live is that I'm in an outer ring suburb that butts up against a lot of nature -- trees, rivers, small lakes and ponds, prairie, etc. When I want to get away from humans, I can drive or bicycle there without having to go too far. Plus, I'm only 20-30 minutes away from anything happening in the city so I never feel isolated. Aside from somewhat expensive rent and high property values in this part of the metro area, it's ideal.

Living in LA would force me to constantly be within densely populated areas nearly every day, hour, and moment of me life. There are some quiet and peaceful communities but they tend to be inconveniently distant with long, congested commutes.

There are lots of places within CA that are on my bucket list to visit but I would never, ever, ever want to live there. The roads suck...out loud. I don't have to list anything beyond that. That's a deal-breaker for me.

Yes we get rain, but our summers rock, we usually get some snow for winter, we have no hurricanes, twisters, earthquakes, or anything like that. Its very laid back up here, and the datsun/nissan community is nice up here to, we got some of the best shows. Love it up here lol.
Yessss. Oregon is the best state...nay...the best region to live in the WORLD.
