Miatas I could see. but the fact that nearly all the ghetto fanboi wannabes around the age of 16 knocked up a teen girl might hinder sales considering theres no place for a carseat.

p.s. I love miatas.

may never happen, but I remember seeing a small section in super street about minitrucks in japan with some sick motors and suspension in them. I remember a nissan bulletside with a rb26 in it. might be a different crowd, but still awesome and cheap.

the 240sx and the Civic are popular for different reasons. Even if they are the next big fad I'm still going to get a 240.

Anyone saying Z33, S2000 or WRX isn't thinking outside the box enough. Think cheaper! I know there's more...
BMWs are too unreliable and expensive to repair

I agree with the miata, and I'll add the sky and solstice to that list those cars were basically made for a LS swap to drop right in and with their piss poor resale value you'll be finding those for 5k in a few years

i dont think that 240 is the next civic due to the fact that civics are made from 1973 til now... so there are 6 generations for honda enthusiasts to choose from in america...

but 240s only have 3 generations w/ only 2 of the generations in america... and the 240 is used for mostly the freedom of drifting and amazing handling of a RWD... A honda civic is used for straight tuning or just looking nice...

so IMO whoever said the 240 is the next civic is WRONG... but i agree w/ the 350z being the next 240... especially w/ the release of the 370z... people are selling their 350z for a 370z... pretty soon the 350z will only be $5000

Man, I do like that Sky...

This reeks of arrogance and ignorance. You obviously don't know much about Civic tuning. Try you-tubing 'Saucy Posse'.

And I wouldn't exactly call the 240's handling "amazing". There are many Civic's that would tear a 240's a$$ off on a road course and not many 240's that could return the sentiment.

ive driven a civic bfore in the canyons as hard as i could w/ falken tires and a lowered suspension and it didnt do nearly as good as my completely stock 240 w/ cheap tires...

i could go into turns faster w/ the 240 without a doubt of sliding the tires... but with the civic i had to go 10-15 mph slower to make the same turns... this is mt experience and my opinion...

IMO civics are more for speed than grip in the canyons

What about the hyundai genesis. It's supposed to be the next big drift car. another rwd 4 cyl coupe that comes in like, 4 different packages. turbo, none turbo,...I've also read tons about it and all positive reviews. I'm not sayin it's better. Nothing will ever compare to a 240 but, as far as the next in drift...well...

I gotta agree with the Miata being one of the next cars that people will get to have fun, race, do whatever in. Simply do to the fact they're light and can have so many different mods done to them same as the 240. But in the same sense, nothing can ever come to replace the 240..unless they brought it back

Well, I retract my statement in that case. You get so many Civic bashers on Nico that it's rare that someone makes a comment based on actual experience rather than blind, automotive bigotry. However, I do still know some Civics with some real corner carving credentials...

I've never owned a civic but that whole civic hate thing gets pretty old fast, specially when I bet you at least 80% of the people bashing it used to be into the fast and the furious scene.... I laugh when Im looking thru drifting forums and all the kids are like "Honda sucks stupid posers fwd is teh gay!", and then I see vids of Tsuchiya driving civics and integras on racing circuits, beating evos and gtrs and saying "I love this vtec!"

....but I still woulndn't trade my 240 for no civic

I don't think Miata's will be the "next 240". If they were, then it'd already happen. There's a cult following of the Miatas too, but it's done so by mostly people who actually like tracking their cars. Also, Miata's don't have the JDM tyteness factor like the S chassis and 350Z's.

i would have to say that the s2000 will be the next 240, strong and reliable RWD platform, rather large aftermarket, and the price is dropping. my friend picked hers up a few weeks ago for 8.5k and it is mint. Its been my daily for the past week because I'm having 240 problems. i must say that the handling charactaristics of that car are absolutely excellent like a freshened up 240, its way sportier than a civic (like a 240) and it slides nice too ... so thats my 2 cents, and daily rant.

the miata is THE autoX car. i used to have a miata. it was a very fun car to drive, and slide. it needed more power though... about 75 more hp wouldve been perfect and same for torque. cant really high speed slide it stock NA. handles like a go-kart though. handles alot differently when sliding vs an s chassis. it feels weird.

ive also ownded a civic. infact i bought after i sold my first 240 (the s14). bought it for 3k from one of my buddies. handled really really good, and did 13.7 @106 with 10 lbs on stock d16. got stolen while i was at work.

the e30 is a good chassis, as well as the e36. s2k aint too shabby either, but thats z price territory as well. what about a fox body 5.0???? those are cheap as shlt with asss loads of torque! im surprised we dont see that many of those asss out. there are a few, but that would be a really good candidate. so what if its a ford... just throw some nissan badges on it, and do a sil front

Imo, I hope nothin replaces nothin... I want the ricers to stay trickin out their Honda's and Acuras and for old 240sx rust buckets to be the only easy find when in the market for one. I like it that it took me, uhhhh, 4 years to find me a 240sx, well the right one for that matter. I could've easliy bought a semi moded or clunker pos. I want the Hondas to remain abundant, so that the ones who wanna put big gigantic wings and ridiculous looking kits and wild paint schemes on a 240, but dont have the patience, will settle for their neighbors Civic HB sittin in their front lawn wit a black and red for sale sign on it. But like I said, that's just my opinion... By the way, I was watchin tv today, and saw that even Paula Deen gotta 350Z (if ya don't know er, she's a famous southern cook). What? I'm the only one that watches Food Network?

This is true, this is true. It is also true that Toyota is in the process of bringing back a revamped RWD Corolla to the states with different options and, if I can remember correctly, both platforms the Levin and Trueno.

Don't mean to bust everyone's bubble but there is a aluminum top miada with faded red paint on the road I drive down every other day for sale. I've been keeping my eye on it. Seems to be broke down and cheap and I have a spare ka24de in the garage (complete engine, harness, ecu trans, etc.) I might just snatch it up to build up and sell. Would that be a sight or what?

The 350Z's got written all over it.
Yo dude all i see nowadays is evos...Hahaha look at the drivers it may be a steriotype but they all seem to think their the shiznizzz...Watch how they position themselves in that "im so fly" position......The classic Z (240z being my favorite car of all time) scene is growing too...

as long as it's not the s2000 i don't care what happens to 350z. although i'm seeing the same thing happening w/ the s2k...more and more teens getting behind the wheel and wrecking them because they can't handle it. they should wreck 350z's cause theres a lot more of them.

i think the S-Chassis hype is just about at it's peak.

i've seen so many DSM/Honda guy's jump to the S13/S14 Bandwagon and now there selling them to get back into there "roots"

the 240 will not be the next 240 just cause of production numbers but it's close. (i'm saying how many modded civics to modded 240's)

i think drifting has another year or 2 left in it and that fad will start to calm down a little.

personally when i think of the next "civic/240" i think of something cheap and easy to mod with easy to find parts.

with the prices of the z33 dropping i can see those gaining in popularitiy but not enought to be "fanboy stlye" i could see SRT4 Neons being the next "it" car as they made a decent amount of them and they are easily found for sub 10K and there pretty quick from the factory, and lets face it more people drag/street drive there car then do drifting/canyon running. I've noticed the Cressida over the last year or 2 has just EXPLODED in popularitiy there just isn't enough EASY ricer mods for them and there kind of hard to find.

the Lexus SC 3/400 is really getting popular again too. those are my geuss's
