....then what car will be the next 240? IMO, it'll be the 350Z. I'm seeing more and more 350Z's being sold for around $10k and even a few under $10K. With the prices dropping, it'll be more affordable for younger kids to get a hold of. Falling prices, driftbandwagon, and a being a big icon in the drift scene over the years. The 350Z's got written all over it.

I could see as far as Nissans go the 350z following in the 240s shoes, but...I dont think itll ever be as popular with the "scene" as the s chassis

i dont think it will be

theres different generations of Z's, and sure you see some nice a** datsuns, some badass 300zx, and some riced out ones too, and same with the 350z

and also, (atleast in my area), i dont see the 240sx becoming the next civic at all

pretty much every 240 owner ive seen and talked to have good taste and are cool people.

and i know with online forums, and the local scene for RWD cars, people will laugh and make the person go home and cry that shows up with there new riced out 240 that they just sold there civic for trying to be cool

sure you have the occasionall completley riced out WTF 240, but again, thats with ANY car, whether it be a 350z, a mustang, a supra, or even corvettes for gods sake

EDIT: btw, to the OP, your car is SEXY

If the 240 is the next civic then.... I'm hopping on the Z/GTR train after I roll my 240 off a cliff. Just kidding... We're all die hard 240ers. Just like the 40+ year old guys are die hard 60's and 70's muscle heads. Now to arms and fight off the rising ricers and buy up all the 240's and keep them in your back yard storage building!

The 240 can't be the next civic, the sales figures are slightly different. But in the event that it does happen, 6 cylinder mustangs are a good candidate, or 350's. I can't think of anything out there that is like a 240 though. Small motor, rear drive, fairly light, pretty clean aerodynamically, huge aftermarket support. Most other cars just can't compete with that. If my 240 died today, I'd get another because there is nothing like it in good condition for under $10000.

I think it wasnt meant literally. But the fact that increased popularity and a "fanboy" gathering like the civic had. And not to mention, increased theft.

Until They Stop Producing Civics, Nothing Is The New Civic.

Good Thing 240's Aren't As Easy To Find.

But SRT-4 Owners Come Pretty Close...

I think the OP is right about the 350z being the next 240.

The key to the 240's popularity is that it's an inexpensive sporty, rwd platform.

The only one of those attributes the 350z doesn't have is the inexpensive part.. and that is slowly starting to change. Give it a few more years and let the prices come down to $5k for a high mile used version and you better be ready to see high school kids snapping them up and distastefully modding them.

I see the 350z replacing the 240 as a popular vehicle to have in the next 10 yrs.I see more 350z's on the road than 240's. Maybe not as much as the Civic in the 90's, but nevertheless, the 350z is far popular platform than any new Civic.

I agree

I feel like the Z is coming up, and soon after the g35 will follow.

there are a few other chassis also, like the 3 series

EDIT:: For stupidness

I dont think 240's are the next civic at all, not enough to be as widely used, i know it was super hard for me just to track down a chuki bumper and corners here in va.

as for the 350 becoming the next 240 as for being riced out or a drift machine, i think its possible, since the release of the 370 ive seen alot more college kids (i live by VT) that are running around in 350's with some horrible bodykits thrown on em.

But then again ive seen some really nice turbo 240sx's and 350z that are clean and simple but have nice mods come by our shop, so I guess its all just a matter of personal choice.

Z33 is too expensive to be the new 'it' car for the frugal masses. To attract 240-like attention, the new 'it' car needs to have decent performance in stock form, huge aftermarket support and be attainable for, let's say... around $3000-$4000.

The best candidates IMO are1st gen MiataZ31 & Z32SC300/SC400and possibly the MR2 Spyder in a few years.

Not all of these chassis are what we might consider as lightweight, but when your chassis is the same as an MK4 Supra or something comparable (SC's & Z32's respectively), you can always just throw more power at it!

When I think about, its very rare that I see a riced out 240. Actually..I cant even remember seeing one. Most of the S13's I see are stock and driven by older people and the S14's are usually clean and/or boosted.

That's what I'm talking about. Folks be sleeping on the Miata... All the work ppl put into gutting their 240 to reduce weight and it'll still never be as light as a stock Miata. We're talking dirt cheap early '90's Civic-type power to wight ratio, coupled with RWD and a droptop. And thanks to Spec Miata racing series, chassis setup homework is already done for you!

Plus, when slammed, they look like they'll fit under an 18 wheeler easy! lol Whats not to like?

The only Z's under 10k are beat to hell or have a salvage title a clean Z is still at least 12-13k+ I don't see that becoming a popular tuner car for at least 5+ more years b/c nothing is cheap to mod on it. Cams you're looking at $1000+ just for an example, the young cheap crowd isn't going to pony up for those mods

Oh, here's another RWD car you can get for cheap... E36 BMW's! Maybe not so cheap for the M3, but the lower trims for sure.

Anyone saying Z33, S2000 or WRX isn't thinking outside the box enough. Think cheaper! I know there's more...

IMO the 240 will never be the new civic. There are just not enough of them. If they ever got that popular we could all sell ours and by 370z. haha. They only made roughly 250,000 240s for us Americans. The last three years of production they only made about 12,000 including about only 4,887 koukis ever made. They made 15000 Civic sis in 2006 alone. Not to mention the civic has 20 years to choose from and we only have 9. I feel the 240 is awesome but will always be a nitch market car. I for one am glad most people are still ignorant to the awesomeness of the 240. However if they do come out with a new 240 be prepared for people to try to buy the older ones. When the 350z came out everone offered me huge sums of money for my z31.
