Yes, literally terrified. They're gonna have to knock me out beyond all comprehension - 3 days ahead of time.
I'd rather have a finger cut off than go to the dentist...
Greg, I was crapping myself too. Dont sweat it man. Heres a basic run down of what they did to me at the military dentist (you know they'll be much better on the civilian side).
I didnt get nitrous, they hooked me up to an IV (dont look if you're not a needles guy like me) and then they give you some oxyagen on a mask. No biggy. They talk to you, try to get you to calm down, even though you have crap in your arm, a mask on, and a pulse monitor going sky high as you start to freak out. After about 20 min, you're out.
While pseudo unconscious, I think I remember hearing digging or cracking, but it wasnt nearly enough to awaken me or hurt. The next thing I knew we were done, I was in a wheel chair cause I couldnt stand right and I was pretty doped up from the seditaves they put me on originally.
I dont remember the car ride home, or how I got up my stairs, I'm sure my roommate helped but I cant recall. I do, however, remember sitting down with a cup of water in my hands, taking my motrin and percoset, then my roommate put on Snatch. "What do I know about Diamonds, I'm a boxing promoter" was about as far into the movie as I got before I passed out again and woke up still numb with water all over me and my cup on the ground.
They gave me three days worth (or 6 days if you're frugal) of percoset. Two tablets every six hours and you're flying high. SUCKS a ton cause all I ate that whole time was one large Popeyes mashed potatoes a day, but the Percoset makes you lack hunger. It took me about a week before I didnt hurt anymore, but the pain isnt all that great, it was quite mild in fact if I remembered to take my motrin on a regular basis.
Right now, I'm over two weeks removed from having the teeth out and I feel no pain at all. I can eat pretty much whatever I want, but everyonce in a while I get a chuck of something or rather in the gum sockets left over. No big deal though.
