I purchased an I30 with 104,000 miles on it the other day. The car is in pristene condition and runs great. Everything works.
The car is still under it's 1000 miles warranty from the dealer.
Twice now in the past several days, when stopped with the car in DRIVE the idle suddenly became rough. Shifting to NEUTRAL and back into DRIVE made it go away. Eveything else seems normal.
Any clue? It's very intermintent so I'd like some ideas to tell the mechanic Friday when I bring it in in case it doesn't do it for them. Idle Air Control? Perhaps it just needs to be cleaned?
Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
EDIT - I'll also add this. The car had been completely stopped in DRIVE for several seconds idling normally when it suddenly started idling rough. It wasn't horribly rough, just a slight "rumble" of sorts.
EDIT #2 - I though of one more thing. The car had a new battery installed - so a couple of days ago the computer would have been completely reset. I know some cares go through a "learning" period where they may run oddly for a bit. Just though I'd mention that as well.

More info. While on the way back to the dealer, the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SLIP, and TCS OFF lights all came on together.
I left it running for the mechanic to see. We restarted the car twice and then the TCS and SLIP lights went off, and SES stayed on. They are going to scan the codes tomorrow.
The rough idle is likely unrelated, and maybe due to the computer relearning. The lights concern me more.
I am starting to worry that I screwed up buying this car.
Edit - I decided this was better in the mechanic's forum so posted this issue over there. Didn't mean to cross post ... my bad.

I30's are good cars. You did not screw up. It just needs a little TLC.
Thanks ... I needed some encouragement.
I've been doing some reading in this forum and think my tension rod bushings need to be replaced as well. I have the slight "rattle" at low speed over bumps coming from the driver side wheel area.

Update - after their diagnostics today they pulled codes that indicated ignition coil problems. They replaced three coils, and dropped in new NGK plugs as well while they were in there.
The dealer picked up the entire cost - pretty darn good service for a used car with 100,000 miles on it.
I can't speak highly enough about "Wheels for Less" Auto in Ruckersville, VA - if you're in that area I recommend their service and sales.
Thanks to all who replied. I have already learned a lot about this car from just two days of reading on this forum. It's great.
