No that car is not mine. thats the car from Back Yard Performance. the stuff they do makes no sense but somehow it works for them. U have probably heard of them. Right now i think they have fully built the motor and are at 670hp. but im not sure.

I just finally got my car straight. Im only planning on 500 to the floor. 350 for my low boost. I did 300 on stock injector. But paid for it 3 times

Currently researching using the 6speed sr20det transmission.
You mean "shot peening"? No, it doesn't.

And what trans are you referring to, and why?

Not to be rude, but as I said in another thread: There's a lot of experts here - This isn't the place to impress anyone if you don't know your stuff.

Hang out, read and learn - But let's leave the inaccuracies and theories at the door.

Thanks.

the piston damage was because i went drifting in my neighborhood after the hurricane. At the time i had a cracked ring. Before i did what i did.

When i finished that i had the 3 damaged pistons, some bent valves and a borken radiator. But i did that only because the car was heading into the shop for the new years. Now its fully built and im driving like an old woman. Making sure i finsih tuning it.

Going autocrossing.

The transmission i mlooked at the gear ratio. Im trying to find out if the gears are similar from 1st through 5th as the ka or if the gears are shorter. Im looking for the 6th gear for highway use only. Not for performancee at all.

Dont really think i will go through with it unless it bolts up which i doubt.

"shot peening" expert or not this is what i was told. i was attempting to do this when i was giving that information. They could be wrong but they are at a much higher level of knowledge than i am. But it doesnt mean they are correct. I didnt even know that the stock rods were shot peened. Thats y we have forums.

Thank u for the info.

Now i feel bad. I really didnt think of that till u said that. Its the top speed capability of that transmission that i am interested in and also if the gear lenth is the same as the ka transmission. I honestly got the idea form looking at the top speed capabilities of each transmission.

I look at it as having a six speed ka transmission.

Do you have access to one? Pretty hard to find, and not cheap.

Not much need for a 6th gear.

madskillz wrote:Your right about that. Over time the stress would cause piston and rod failure. But i wouldnt recommend running around on that power daily. 300 to 400 is reliable on the stock motor. i wouldnt recommend anything higher if u dont change the pisttons and rods
Okay, I didn't want to start anything, but your posts are just too ridiculous.

First off, sit down, think about everything you want to say, perhaps jot down your ideas on a piece of paper, and then type it in ONE post. You posted FIVE times, with about a sentence each, sequentially. Gets real annoying to read.

Not to mention, you're just purely wrong on mostly everything you've said. The fact that you're giving "recommendations" that 400 hp daily on a stock motor is safe is enough to tell everyone on here you have no clue what you're talking about.

300-400 is NOT reliable on a stock motor...and people like you are REALLY starting to irk me, because you clearly are not super-knowledgeable in what you're talking about, and probably have limited experience (although you did blow your engine up? that only verifies that you don't exactly know what you're doing--unless it was a case of connecting rod failure, which you said it wasn't) and are just inundating the forum with junk and falsely inspiring people who WANT to hear that they can make that type of absurd power with a stock block. Do you really think a stock engine designed for 155 horsepower and natural aspiration can see a 250% increase in power and about 20 psi safely? Are you out of your mind?

Foster's motor blew up and it was excellently tuned and freshly/professionally built...at 430 whp. Mine blew up at about ~300 whp, professionally, freshly built, running a very conservative JWT tune. Both of our motors had about 1000 miles. Both of them were well-broken in. Neither of them were destroyed due to any error on our part. The (stock, SHOT-PEENED) connecting rods failed in both of ours.

What confuses me about a lot of people here is that they're interested in getting the maximum amount of power just to say they made it-anyone can make 500 hp, but for how long? A minute? An hour? A day? Maybe...Let's say it does actually last for a decent amount of time. If it does, it is the EXCEPTION, and most certainly not the rule.

My motor is fully built for the second time: crowers, moly-coated wisecos, 3 angle race valve job, oversized stainless steel intake/exhaust valves, all new timing chains, etc etc, and I wouldn't dream of wanting anything over 300 whp. Why? Because a) you don't need more than 300 whp unless you're drag-racing it or trying to set some type of personal record. Even 250 whp on the sreet in a 240sx (with good, sticky, wide tires and an LSD) is a lot. b) I didn't exactly enjoy seeing $3700 being destroyed in a matter of seconds. It's a lot better to play it safe and have fun with the car for A LONG time than it is to have a LITTLE bit more fun with it for a far shorter time.

Again, I'm not trying to come down hard on you or flame you or anything, even though you clearly deserve it. But for the love of GOD, if you don't know what you're talking about, don't feign knowledge. Car forums are EXCELLENT sources of information, but it's wildly unsubstantiated contributions that destroy their validity.

^^ i agree w/ what you say...although do you think the Stage 1+ IAP kit is too much for my engine? (Stock KA, 53K miles) I am just wondering since i am about to make a purchase and wanted your/others view on the kit. The install will be done by AMS Chicago more than likely. I'd also like to have it dyno tuned there too if possible.

Edit: this car will be drivin daily..

Top Secret,Change out your stock rods for some forged units...if you're going to boost and deal with the AMS guys, you are going to most likely want to turn that boost up quicker (and higher) than you are thinking right now. Adopt the following motto and everything will work out perfectly...

"No weak links"

pistons before rods though

i plan on running around 300 rwhp, which is what the IAP +1 kit will get you, and i plan to swap in pistons to start, fully build the block later on

Ahh, thanks for the heads up. I think i'll just keep it chill for a while and get the Stage 1 IAP kit. What are your opinions on that?

EDIT: Do you have any suggestions were i could get my kit fully installed by a good tuning shop in Chicagoland area?

if i lived there id probably go to AMS, i only know of two shops in chicago and the other specializes in rotaries, so id say thats your place

IAP isnt that far from chicago iirc and id assume they do installs if you drive there

you might as well just start with the stage 1 until you get some internals done, the stage 1+ doesnt save you any money by buying all the parts then, so you can just go back and get the extra stuff when youre ready and itll cost the same as if you had bought the 1+ to begin with

honestly if ur looking for taller gearing madfly, just get a diff with a lower gear ratio (like 3.3) and that should make u happy instead of going thru the hassle of having to fabricate some stuff for a six speed transmission. i would think the install of a diff is ten times easier than your transmission idea right? also, from my understanding, byp doesnt even bother with the sr20det six speed transmission and uses the g35/350z six speed transmission (might be rumor or fact so dont quote me). anyway, 350rwhp daily can be done..............see nissanfanatic for the proof.

I really don't mean to thread jack but...

I looked on the IAP site a bit, and couldnt find where they were located? .

This is my current set-up i plan on goin with, its not that much different from GEO's IAP KA-T setup actually...

IAP Stage 1 kitSAFC II480CC injectorsZ32 MAFNGK BKR6ES-II plugsAuto transmission cooler (which should i get?)

I'm trying to make 270-300hp. I also plan to boost 10 PSI daily...Opinions?

btw, car is a daily driver, but down time is not a big issue...

EDIT: Whats a nice boost controller?

Thank you

we discussed the gearing thing already, i used to think id like like a 3.69 or 3.91 out of another nissan, but ive decided to leave the 4.08 in there, after looking at the difference it really wont do much

TOPSECRT88 if you want to make only 270-300whp daily driven then you can stick with the stock everything, esp since you only have 53K miles on it. i know engine conditions vary but just do a compression to make sure everything is in tip top condition, and 270-300whp is nothing for a stock internal KA with good tune and good condition.

if you realize you're being a jackass by posting this totally off topic question, why dont you just start a new thread?
