No doubt. The very thing that drives my father is to give me and my siblings everything he didn't have growing up. If all the people hating were well off enough to provide for their children in such a manner, the would. The only reason I see them not doing so is pure bitterness! Not to mention providing opulently for you child isn't a sure fire way to spoil them. It depends on how you raise them as a parent! If you want to 'spoil' you daughter, then good for you! Its just up to you to make sure she appreciates what she has.

Thanks for the positive responses guys. rjdmmfl1 you hit the issue right on the head. My parents have worked hard and there drive has rubbed off on me. I see nothing wrong with you spoiling your daughter as long as she understands the value of money and what you have gone through to afford and provide such luxuries.

And yes the maintenance will be a little more since the warranty is up but luckily i found an independent shop that works on exotics. They charge half of what the dealership does.

I wont disagree with that. I really liked the coupe as well. It was one of the best looking cars on here.

And yes it is blind hating, because I can.
Rmuth25 wrote:Damn, 18 and driving around a Maserati. Thank goodness for you that your parents don't live by the mantra your first car should leave you stranded at least a few times.

Its fine if you want to spoil your children, who am I to care or judge. My parents have money too, but I feel that they spoiled me the right way. Instead of buying me new cars and every hot toy on the market, they sent me to good schools and valued my education and development as a funtional member of society. They made me work for everything that I had.

When I was in high school, I went to a private school where some of the kids drove around in $50k - $100k cars "pretending" that it was their car, when obviously everyone knew where it came from. I drove an '87 Escort Station wagon that I bought for $1000. Even in that situation, people in my area respect the car that is worked for more than the nicer vehicle.

So I will take into consideration that I come from a very blue-collar city where views of the world may be different than "The Real OC", and say congrats Kevin.

I should have prefaced my comments by stating that spending lavishly on my daghter will depend greatly on her obedience, wrk ethic, and performance in the classroom... without those being in place, I can't see it happening.

But again, congrats on the car Kevin... and phuck not being on NICO anymore, you know you're welcome here brother... and you better bring that sexy silver coupe to our next SOCAL meeting!

I agree with everything you said! Hating on the wealthy,or the children of the wealthy is NOT cool, not when they don't deserve it! I'm already saving for my daughter's sweet 16 party, which I'm sure I will spend over $100K for after its all said and done (the car I want to buy her currently runs for $80K) ... and I'm sure I will catch heat for that from other folks, but I could care less... at the root of everything I do in life is the need/want to provide the best life possible for my wife and daughter... I'm sure Kevin's parents feel the same way!

And regarding the upkeep of the Maseratti, yeah, I would have to agree that that is going to be exprensive... especially if the warranty is almost up!
still that landrover? or something more exotic? I dunno but landrovers are big a** cars. I'd go for a hardtop convertible miata on my girl if I wanted to spoil her. Only two seater so she can't be the taxi for all the friends and she can't do funny things with the BF in it...well she can but i'll assume she can't lol. also its underpowered so she'll have a blast making it rev super high without going dangerously fast and she'll learn to be a better driver because that car is perfect driving platform with perfect 50/50 weight distribution .

Hey there Kevin,

I don't post on here a lot, as I am out of pocket a lot with my job and rarely get a chance to come on, but I have to say, (as a female with an Altima coupe, that is actually being repainted in a few areas due to other people's disrespect of my car and my OCD in keeping it sweet looking,) I applaud your desire, ambition, and ability to obtain your dreams. Even if it were by in part with some help from mom and dad. Who cares. I honestly find the Maerati a beautiful car aesthestically, but Im not a fan of their "mechanics" so to speak.

But look, congrats, cool car, and good for you! Keep it all in perspective and in ten years when you own your own company and have not only a sweet Lambo or Bugatti and a private jet, then look back on this and remember, "all because some people just didn't get it." Keep up the ambition and drive to be more than you are and you will go far.

ROCK ON!

TanyaP.S. I am the same way in a lot of ways as you are, but Im not 18 anymore. However, I did have some very sweet, expensive cars when I was 18 and it was because I worked hard. You should be proud of yourself.

I'll buy my (hypothetical) daughter a $10 cake. Maybe candles. I'm of the school that, when it comes to children, you spoil them only on the things they need - food, shelter, education. We selectively spoil them so that they just maybe will learn to respect the things they earn and the work they do, and maybe they'll survive to adulthood and give you a reason to be proud of them, and maybe, if you're extremely lucky, they'll give you grandkids and raise them the same way so that you can finally be proud of yourself.

Parties and cars don't create any of this opportunity, and if you're wasting your time and effort into anything but giving your children the opportunities to create their own wealth:

If this was out of place, I apologize. If your daughter has done anything to earn that car or that party beyond failing to die for sixteen years, I apologize, and I commend you for raising such a wonderful kid. But I have my doubts, and I doubt you care.[/rant]

Anyways, Kevin, it's a nice car. Enjoy it, and don't be gentle.

People keep mentioning the same thing...and we haven't heard Kevin out about that...

The one point that people keep bringing up is that it is fine to spend WHATEVER on education, well...your parents work hard for what they have, that is all agreed on, where has their motivation placed their son? USC? UCLA? UCB? Stanford? I think this would really help to put a lid on the haters.

You can say what you want, call it hate, but they the ones who act like they are better at times, cause of what their parents give them. And most the time its HS kids who do this, and if your a class mate, why go to the parents to say "your spoiled" lol hence ppl go @ the kids.
