I'd say one of the things that impressed me was the seats. These were black leather and they looked great. Infiniti seats are good, but they really don't have "the look" that the GT R had. The steering wheel was similar, with controls on the spokes, but it too was just a little classier. The dials and gauges were nice and sporty, but I like the G35 dials with that bluish purple glow.
The GTR is lower than the G. It seemed shorter too. The paint wasn't as deep as that on a lexus, but it was smooth and looked perfect - and black is really, really the way to go with that car.
The wheels were not that impressive. They had a clear plastic cover over them but just weren't pretty. Sort of a dark gray color. And the spokes are far enough out that you could easily scrape a curb with them parking the car. I'd give the wheels a -1, but that's about the only negative on the car. Chrome wheels would be +1, as well as a dark tint on the windows. The discs, both front and rear were large. The calipers are Gold, but that's just a little paint. The techs were talking about the brakes and how a brake job would set you back 6 grand.
Overall, it had the quality of a German car. Everything fit and nothing looked cheap. (except the wheels) There are little chrome things on the front side fenders that might be better left off but they didn't look bad. The hood still had that white plastic material covering it, so I couldn't really see the hood scoops.
The engine was really squeezed in and probably would be a PITA to work on. In retrospect, you had to really bend over to see it, so I'm thinking the car was lower than I thought.
The salesman explained the three mode options for driving. You can put the car in "little old lady" "normal" or "race" mode.
I nominate SVT to go drive one and do a Nico write up on it. And did I say that that black GTR really, really looks better in person than in any photo ever taken.
Judging from the pictures I'd seen, I didn't think I'd really like the car. However, now, I'd sell my kidneys for one of these things - as long as it was black. Better hurry, the salesdude said there were only 1500 coming our way.
If Jacko gets one, we'll never hear from him again unless, he'll never stop driving it.
Also, I don't think it has sat radio, at least, I didn't see an antenna. That might be a deal breaker.
