I think we need a couple new sections on NICO

The 2 sections I propose are:

Research and Development - Personally, I know I have alot of ideas that I havn't seen before or would like to try, and I see a number of threads of people thinking the same. A place where we could go to post up innovative or orignal ideas, and get input from the real experts here, I would suggest this area just be a place for people to get straight up answers and brainstorm with others.

and

Fluids - A place to come and talk about optimizing performance for your car with all it's glorious fluids. Gasoline, Transmission, Motor Oil, Windshield Wiper, whatever fluid you need. This may not be as needed as the R&D, but things such as the chemistry of race gas, minimum resistance oils, etc could be addressed here.

So, vote on what you think would be best, and NICO mods please seriously take this into consideration :)Which sections would you like to see?

i'll agree with you on the R&D, cause i have a cool idea for an AKira style bike using a FWD SR20 mounted like its RWD. but i dunno about the fluids. there isnt all to much to talk about that hasnt been posted already.

I think it would be cool if we changed the FOR SALE area a little more. It needs to be set up like zilvia. Where you have a FOR SALE forum and a WANTED forum. I like that A LOT better, because those are the areas that I frequent most.:D

a FOR SALE and WANTED section would help it, but if its possible, maybe do them like FOR SALE:240SX:WHEELS,ENGINES,MISC, etc. and same for wanted, or just sectioned by car.

Some of these ideas are pretty good. Let me run them by some other people and we will see what happens.

To be honest, we dont want to fragment this board by having a million sub forums and sections. Just keep the ideas rolling.bud

We have the Nissan/Infiniti engineering forum, probably a good match for the suggested R7D forum:http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....id=88

Maybe we can discuss fluids in there as well and/or rename it to more frlect a broader scope?

We have so many seperate fourms right now, even for me (and I <live> on this site) it is becoming a bit of a challenge to keep track of all of them.

I have been the top poster almost since the site's inception but he sure is catching up.Soon I will ahve to pass the sceptre as I have become too busy to keep up the volume.

Fred...:)

PS: Of course I could "give" my postcount, those posts I made before we switched to Vbulletins. 1600 posts would sure expand my lead.

Its like Wayne Gretzky (AZ) passing up Gordie Howe (Fred) for the most goals scored in a NHL Career. Most of Gordie Howe's goals scored in the WHL were never counted when the two leagues were merged.

Yeah, but don't forget, other people had lots of posts before the switch. I think I was above 1000.

...Unless you count my Yahoo count, which was right up there.

I don't need the lead, BTW.

Besides, I could kick Gretsky's arse. :D

p.s. We're currently revamping the "showroom" forum as well as B/S/T. I'm not too hip on adding any more subforums, unless we're gonna get rid of some redundant ones.

I STILL think 240 Technical/the 240-specific motor forums/Nissan Online Mechanic are all covering the same ground.

I'm actually thinking that removing all Admin/Mod post counts might be nice - I don't think our post count is representative of what we do here or is a good measure of how many members we assist.

Then again, there's a little part of me that likes to be one of the "lead dogs".:oface

1) A terrible idea because of 2) applies to me too and I have a higher %age on that forum than most.

Well, I think I'll drop mine then - I was teasing about #2, and I'm not the least bit comfortable with this.

Post counts are not going to be adjusted. I am 100% against this idea, and we'll be very unhappy if you even consider it (either of you). Post counts are an accurate display of how many posts we have made since this board opened. They need to stay. If you get rid of admin/moderator post counts, what happens when they resign or get fired, but are still a member of the site? Then we have no idea how many posts they had. Plus, it helps to show a level of maturity (in most cases).

What about choice #5? ... The Ring!!!

Both of the choices sound good, but I like the R&D a little better.

Last time we had "the ring," it just turned into a tino's mom bashing party. No good came out of that.

lol, but it was in one place then, not all over the boards.

Don't worry, it wasn't an actual suggestion, I'm just reminiscing of the good old days. When I saw "new sections," I couldn't resist.

BACK ON TOPIC. I want an R&D forum because the Online Mechanic/Engeneering Talk/240sx Technical/Forced Induction are not all frequented by the same people, and there are a number of people who stand out at as very knowladgeable, but in thier own way, bringing them all together would be benificial.

More like "Trial and Error."

Bsides, they are all together.... on NICO!:D

Well research is more people asking questions...like I want to know how to calculate gains from raising compression ratio, and the only place I know to go for this is the engineering section, but not too many people go there, and there might be someone who has a basic formula or something to do it, while the engineering guys are throwing links at me with 5 pages on how to calculate the BMEP which*apparenty* is all that matters. So I am left confused. Now I also want to know what kind of environment a boost gauge needs to work properly, so I ask in forced induction, and basically get no one that knows, because they arn't engineering guys. Now I have to either go ask the same question in engineering, and probably get links thrown at me, which may be all well and good, or just settle for no answer. Bringing them all together would serve a purpose to most I believe, and at the very least just me...and arn't we all here to make me more happy? ;)

About the b/s/t:

I think it would be a shame to split up 240:for sale stuff from other models(as megaseth suggested). If we split a b/s/t into model-specific sections, we limit exposure to other groups of b/s/t stuff. At present, we get even exposure to all items in one forum. Easier to find, and plenty easy to navigate.

All we need to do in the present forum is use a short & sweet thread title to explain if you are looking to buy/selling and what Y, M, M you are concerned with.

toki - Ask that in engineering, but make sure to ask follow-up questins.

The reason few people post there? Few are qualified.

BTW - B/S/T isn't getting split like that. Basically, it's gonna get split into 2 parts: The Showroom (new car info, Nis and Inf) and Classifieds (stuff and cars for sale).

I think we have too many forums. IE There is no need for a 240sx General Chat. Once you click on the 240sx forum from the main forum then you should be able to post there and have the ability to go to the tech forum.

Agreed - 240 GenChat should be the same as NICO Gen Chat.

We'll discuss and see what happens.

I think the B/S/T is good the way it is because if someone is selling something like wheels, they can be used on a myriad of cars.

I agree that 240 general and nico general should be joined (although nico general seems to be much more mature in content).

The 240sx section could be devided into tech, body(interior exterior/rice), and suspention.

I dunno, just suggestions...
