yeah I saw it the other night... I enjoyed the concept of the film and the effects were pretty damn cool, but I really felt like the whole "breadcrumb" and "three laws" stuff coulda been worked on a LOT more. It's too bad.. those 2 concepts were pretty cool ideas, something that really could have made the movie much better than a mere candy flick. I guess plot and intellectual (ish) concepts take a back seat to swarms of attacking robots.

It was enjoyable though... a little bit predictable (I called that wink from the first time it was introduced haha...), but I had fun watching it. I reccomend!

Check them out - they are pretty cool. Particularly given how long ago they were written.

If the movie shows robots attacking people, then it completely goes against the premises of Asimov's robot worlds and should be appropriately chastised ... hard.

that is the very premise of the film, though. That it defies the logic of his robot worlds. I have the book, and i recommend this movie. It's great.

Yah, a group of <18yr old girls 'hooted and hollared' throughout those scenes. Pretty anoying. Anyways, score one blurry shower scene of the Dr. for the guys.

Just saw it, it was very enjoyable, the graphics the acting, the plot was so-so, the commercial for Audi in every other scene (me<-Audi fun), the demolition robot was cool.

My favorite scene was when will smith was first going threw the junk yard of robots, and the doctor’s voice was in the background, about “ghosts in the program” that made the hairs on my back stand still.

Favorite quote “I hope this things doesn’t run on gas, gas exploded you know”

Seen it Saturday. Loved it. Sunny kicked butt. Not to mention the doctor. I sat there the whole movie trying to figure out what I had just seen her in. I had watched the Sum of All Fears two nights before.

Anyway, good movie. It is deffinetly worth going and seeing. And it will be in my DVD collection when it comes out.

Saw it last night. A thoroughly enjoyable movie but a disappointment nonetheless considering the creative minds involved.

Pro's:- slick art direction: loved the iMac-inspired robots and vehicles - a futuristic world that ISN'T post-apocalyptic- Sonny- the most interesting character in the movie, an actor is credited with supplying this robot with his subtle mannerisms and expressions, mucho kudos to him and the technical team responsible for delivering a subtley-nuanced "character"

Con's:- the Rotisserie-vision during many of the action sequences conjured up memories of the House of the Dead movie, def. not a good thing- though I consider Will Smith a fine actor (Ali had me sold) I felt that his comedic stylings were sometimes out-of-place and unwarranted though that wasn't entirely his fault; in movies like Bad Boys his jokes took center-stage and because they were relegated to background filler in this movie, they became annoying - I felt this movie didn't adequately explore the profound themes of the book and the speech by Dr. Lanning in the latter half of the movie seemed forced and very contrived- Watching a movie like this makes me realize how cohesive and storytelling in a sci-fi film like Blade Runner and Minority Report is. Where every scene serves to advance the story and the special effects weren't used as a gimmick but was integrated into the story seamlessly. - I couldn't stand that annoying kid who was supposed to be comedic relief? Gah, I wouldn't to relieve my self on his curly mug.

In the end, it's a fun popcorn flick but is also a huge, wasted opportunity considering the source material.

I got a cookie for anyone who picked it up!!

nope.. try again...

it was more subtle than that.. but on something that a lot of movies are based on, but we just don't realize it... I wouldn't have untill my wife pointed it out...

but then again, that's not my feild of expertise so I didn't pick it up..

Hhmm.... Maybe it's the age-old, archaic Hollywood practice of extinguishing any semblance of a love interest between a black male and white female leads in major blockbuster titles? It's funny how it's been nearly half a century since the Civil Rights movement yet showing a black man and white woman sharing a screen kiss is still taboo.

haha.... no.. not that either... but it's not taboo anymore...

I've seen plenty of movies with black and white actors... both male and female on either side kiss and have love interest..

can't name them all because I don't keep track of them but I do know that I have seen plenty..

I beg to differ. For the most part it is a Hollywood taboo. And I'm not speaking of white male/black female duo's because for some reason that combination is more socially acceptable. Have you ever seen a movie in the league of When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, Kate and Leopold, etc. with a black male lead? If you have, please lemme know.

well, I'm not THAT much of a movie buff.. and you are probably right.. I'm not going there with you since I have nothing more to add to that but to just say yes, you could be right in this matter..

but, in any case, that is not what I was talking about thought... :)

Old Testament tails form the basis of many works of literature.

Here's a really trite trick for the title of an opus: Take any line from the "Lord's Prayer" e.g., "On Earth as it is in heaven". Ta Da! Instant best seller!

For instance, what's the name of Sean Hannity's latest drivel? "Deliver Us from Evil." Ta Da!

This is an old trick from which educated writers and readers recoil.

well, I gave in and saw the movie with some friends... Overall, it was better than I expected, but still left a lot of room for growth. The general idea behind the movie was definately Asimovian, but it could have been executed a lot better. Some parts were extraneous and didn't make much sense as well. For example, what was with the cat? Aside from the lame "a cat did that to you?" joke, it wasn't developed any further. Also, how did the demolition robot change its time? Was it hooked up to VIKI and they just didn't tell anyone? I thought the hookup was just something new with the NS-5.

There were plenty of other plot holes, but its not worth my time to mention them right now. Overall I'd say it was a decent flick, and probably a really good movie if you haven't read a lot of Asimov (I need to finish the Robot series personally, they are awesome. And if you haven't read the Foundation series, do it now!). It was enjoyable for me to see once, but I thought it could have been a lot better.
