Yup started out as basic GMC swapover when summit originally built it... but then I think when rad rods by troy rebuilt it... they went a little extra crazy with it. And then... the car disappeared.

Actually I take that back... even the original setup had quite a bit of custom work if I remember correctly. Either way... this project is semi sorta reminding me of that car... so maybe he should look to it for inspiration. Or not.

it didn't disappear! they just redid it about a year or so ago, completely changed like everything about it... I dont remember many of the details I think they may have even eliminated AWD. why they didn't just sell it and start with a new car, I have no idea.

Enough drama and back to the subject of AWD & the VH drivetrain combination.

What causes the damage to the casing pictured above? (Torque is not the correct answer, its a failure of some specific components)

Also, why does 3rd gear fail on the AWD gearbox? (Gear design/material, Synchro's, etc...?)

Oh, and congratulations on finding an awd gearbox so cheap. The cheapest I've found them for so far is around $600.

Yeah, a lot of people get it wrong, but then again I didn't have the option of using harek's and charek's when I first signed up to NICO.

You know of any importers in particular?None that I've emailed wanted less than upwards of $500 not including S/H.

I used to have 3 importers on my favorites list but my hard drive died... I know that two of them sold "combos" with rb26dett motors and rb25 transmissions, so that might be something to look for (thats what I was looking for) and thats how I stumbled across their surplus of stateside GTR transmissions.

One of them was based in canada, I don't remember about the other two.

But I'd defintely keep shopping around I have seen them cheap.. there is just no demand for them over here
