(Theres cliffnotes on the very bottom.)

So ive had my s14 for about a year now, since around last may. I just turned 17 in march, and this is my first car. Ive been passionatley into cars my entire life, despite the fact of nobody else in my family being into them, and ive wanted a 240 since i was about 12 years old

i finally got the car a year ago, and it looked like this

I was the happiest kid in the world, not only was i 16 and had my first car and driving by myself, but it was my dream car.

Sure it wasnt perfect, it was a base model, ugly a** sunk wheels, 4x4 suspension, completley stock and open diff, 2 working speakers that were blown like crazy, and a busted a** tape deck, but i was still happy for a while, and still had my fair share of fun

i did little things here and there, like keep it clean, sylvania silverstar bulbs, good wipers, and even made my own custom pajama shift boot to cover up the worn leather oneand months later, after it got all discolored from the sun, i got tired of it and made somthing a little nicer

with plans to go 5 lug (which took me longer than i expected), i bought some twin tubro 300zx wheels, which i thought would look pretty good on my car

eventually i figured, since i dont have money, why do i need an xbox 360 and forza when i have the real thing now, so i traded my xbox for a j30 vlsd, which was my first real mod, and meant the car was a LOT more fun to drive

unfortunatley, im a dumbass, and around september, i was driving it hard ignoring the fact that i needed an oil change, and spun a rod bearing, later finding out i only had so little oil, not even a drop showed up on the dipstick, which of course then made perfect since why i spun a rod bearing

so i had to give up my passion of drums, and sell them for $500 plus a nice shop jack, which i ended up using a lot. I finally bought the 5 lug conversion with the help of my mom, as well as some tein lowering springs i picked up for $75. I then got a KA for $350, and after about 4 months, i finally had two people come to help me swap it in, after finally finding a hoist to borrow

meanwhile, the car had the new KA in, but little did i know that the one of the rear hubs i bought was f***ed, and the toe of the rear right wheel was doing whatever it wanted. Plus it needed new rear pads, and i was hearing a roaring noise coming from that back that i couldnt figure out what it was (ended up being the hub.)

So the car went back into the garage and up on jackstands for 2 more months (the time it took me to figure out what it was and stuff, and just not being productive with it), and then i FINALLY got the car back on the road, with the new KA (which gave me some electrical issues in the begining), the new wheels, and with lowering springs, and after a few weeks, new speakers all around and a new head unit which was pretty decent, and made the car feel newer and less of an old POS

i fell in love with my car again, and finally had my own car again after being car-less for about 6 months, and i was as happy as could be, for about two months

I finally got a job last weekend as a waiter, making pretty good money. I made about $150 in 3 nights, but i had to work the whole weekend and only had about two hours each day to relax and hang out

monday night, i finally had enough money to get my tint, and i was going to be making money to start putting into my car to get it to drive perfect. get new subframe bushings, new struts, swaybars, and tie rods, and then rebuild my old KA before i threw it back into the car and saved up more money to eventually boost it, and continue with transforming my dream into a reality

I was on my way to get my tint, which i was getting done in miami (about an hour away), cause i was getting it done for $80 with a lifetime warranty which was a pretty good deal considering the shop close to me wanted $150. Everything was going so well. It was 11 at night, theres little to no traffic, i was with my friend just relaxing and driving up there listening to music, and talking about how happy i am that i finally got everything back together, and how much i love my car and how happy it makes me, and how now i finally have money to put into it

So, a little more than halfway there, i take a ramp to go from one highway to another. Now its not a sharp turn at all, and the turn is 3 lanes wide, and with my car and the way i drive, going 75 through a turn like that is no problem at all, and definatley isnt pushing it

Now my rear tires are starting to go bald on the inside, and little did i know, part of that turn at the end was a big wet spot for some reason. As im approaching the end of the turn in 4th gear, partially on the gas, (before i realized there was a random huge wet spot), the rear end starts to hydroplane, and with no warning, the a** slowly started to kick out, and once i lifted off the gas and felt the back end continue to come around, this is when i realized somthing very bad was going to happen

As hard as i tryed to controll it, when your going 75 and your not expecting a random wet spot at the end of the turn right after you get on the gas, and your rear end kicks around from having a layer of water between the road and your tires, and the car already spins around a half turn, no matter how well you can controll your car in a sitution like that, odds are its not gonna turn out good when your going that fast

my car spun completley around twice, which slowed it down to im guessing about 50, before it made its way onto the grass after the inside of the turn and continued to spin around once more as i watched the guard rail (which was wire) and my car spiraling tward it before the back end hit it, and i guess spun another 270 to hit the drivers side, ending with my car on the grass, facing the oposite way, and me completley pooping my pants suprised that i didnt feel a thing

i shut off my car ran out with my friend, started to laugh for a second and hugged eachother thanking god we were still alive , and ran to the back to see that my car might be totalled, going back and fourth between how thankfull i am that im alive, but how pissed off at how stupid i was for not being careful (it rained earlyer that day, but the whole ride there the highway was dry), and how now im left with my dream car totalled, and no money to fix it.

The majority of the damage is the back, including part of the rear QP on both sides, which is actually pretty bad, and im pretty sure my car would be considered totalled. Ill get some better pics tommarow when i pull it out of the garage, these are just some pics i took right now cause this story would be pointless without pics

Luckily, the car was still driveable, and seemed to actually drive pretty damn straight. Im sure one of the cars that passed by a few minutes later probably reported the accident, and i even saw a cop drive by without giving a crap, so luckily, i waited for no cars, drove out onto the highway and turned back heading the right way, and drove back home and parked it in my garage.

As pissed off as i am at myself for what the end result is, im still soooo thankful, because it could have been so much worse considering i hydroplaned and spun out doing 75 and did a 900 off the highway into a guard rail, and i could have easyly flipped the car and completley f***ed it up, or worse, f***ed up my friend and possibly killed him

Thank god me and my friend are 100% fine. Even though the car was still spining around out of controll, i at least manged to controll the car well enough to keep me and my friend alive and in one piece, even though i still ended up still going off the road and hitting the rail

Considering i did a 900 into a guardrail, the damage really isnt as bad as it could have or should have been, but its still not pretty

So now, i dont know what im gonna do. I have my brothers maxima now since hes not driving anymore, so i atleast have somthing to get around it, but im so attached to my car, and i want to be driving it by mid next year

It would probably be easyer and might even be a little bit cheaper to just part it out or sell it as is, save up for a little, and get a new 240, and thats probably what most of you here would do, or say to do

but if theres no frame damage, my friends really good family friend does one hell of a good job at body work, and im probably going to end up saving up, getting a trunk, bumper, and taillights for cheap, and paying him to work his magic on the rear quarter panels, even if it costs a pretty penny

you might think im crazy, but the car means so much more to me than just a car. Not only is it my first car, and not only is it my dream car, but ive put so much effort and headache into it, ive been through so much s*** with it, so many different places, so many good times and so many good memories, and it just isnt somthing that i can simply let go of.

what do you guys think? i know theres a pretty nasty crease in that rear QP, but how much do you think it would cost to pay sombody to fix that (not including paint)

CLIFFNOTES: I love my car, i was driving to get my tint, i love my car, i hydroplaned out of a turn doing 75, spun off the highway and did a 900 into a guard rail and totalled my car, but luckily me and my friend are 100% ok. Even tho the car is totalled, it means so much to me that im going to do what it takes to bring it back to life

Sorry to hear about that man, Remember though, It is more important for you and your passengers to be alive than for a car to be unscathed. There will be another chance to own a car like it, It will only require work and dedication. And when you get there you'll at least have a basis of comparison since you've already had one lol

I was actually going a little more than 80, but yeah, thats very true, you live and you learn

im just glad it didnt turn out as bad as it should have, and i realized a whole bunch of s***

im moving on with my life, cause at least i have my brothers car to get me around, but i still have trouble falling asleep (for example its almost 7 in the morning and i havnt slept yet)

i just want to find out as soon as i can if its going to be worth fixing or not, so i can decide what im going to do

I wish you luck.. I know how sometimes a car has more value to you because it is sentimental like my 79 corvette (my first car). Those quarters look pretty bad though so i dunno how well that can be fixed without tons of body filler. Keep us posted with progress.

Damn, but that car's beat to hell. Hate to say it, man, but if you had insurance on it it might just be better to salvage what you can from it and get a new 240. If you really want to try and restore it, though, good luck!

Glad to see someone really care for their car.

Not happy to see such an unfortunate accident.

Extremely happy to see a 17 year old can write with structure unlike about 70% of the people here. Way to use what school taught you!

Don't worry to much about it. You are still young and since you have a job now you will be able to buy another car soon. Best of luck to you.

I'm 21 and have had 9 cars already (all could drive!). I have bought all my cars except the first one which my sister gave to me (put that one into a pole, don't drive while tired!)

Poor Zenki but you know what dude you really do live and learn and the car looks fixable its gonna be some money to do it though. And no offense dude but thats why I am glad I didnt get my Zenki at 16 cuz I have recked 3 cars since then. All of them loved dearly, but I learned from each one and dont drive like an a** anymore... Most of the time

Actually thinking back your really lucky dude cuz I was hurt in every accident

That sucks man. Good luck with the repairs.

Well, that's the way it usually goes when you own a 240 or any other car in general, you'll save up enough money to buy something new...and then something will break and that money you saved up will inevitably have to go to those repairs.

Ouch!! ..sorry to hear about the wreck. Glad you made it out ok though. I have spun a car before(three spins but fortunately there was no fence to hit.) Scary feeling to be sooo out of control. One of my favorite cars got rear ended by an electrical supply truck though so I know what it's like to lose one. It will probably be cheaper to get another car and start over. Maybe even paint it red in memory of the old one. There are several good ones on craigslist right now for under 3k.No matter what you decide I wish you the best of luck.I saw some of your first posts and you were pretty lost mechanically!! I think you have learned a lot on this car .

ps...My 90 has had similar damage in the past.I found out after I bought it and was checking something under the rear carpet. It's difficult to get everything lined up like it was originally. My hatch won't really even latch and the bumper sits a little crooked. Good thing the hatch weighs 100 lbs but the little bounce noise is irritating. It won't ever seem the same.....

At least you guys are okay. COuld have been much worse. Just keep the usable parts off of this one and buy yourself another shell. there are still plenty of good condition S14's out there (as compared to S13's).

Karma is an evil b****....

That car is totalled man, I wouldn't waste the money/time trying to repair it. There is a clean Zenkji SE local to me that's for sale. Think they are looking for 3500 or so... I can get the number if you want, it's red...

Sell me your headlights, I need to do a retro on them...

Good luck with whatever you decide to do..

Some people on the local forum are saying its fixable, but im still not sure

if theres no frame damage its just gonna need some hell of body work. Now im not the one doing it, im gonna be paying sombody to do it, but that means its probably gonna need a looooot of money

depending on how much its gonna take, im gonna decide wether to part it and get a new shell or car, or just try to save it

heres some more pictures

I really really hate to tell you this, but S14tan's damage was less than what you have by a huge margin and his insurance totalled his...

But like I said, good luck. Me personally, as attached to my car as I am, I'd get a new shell. It's tainted and I couldn't deal with that... New shell, new start...
