don't do it you make 240 owners look cheap and ricey.

i'm sure there are other slightly costlier alternatives that makes the car look like it has real paint compared to a spray can

and now for some old pics... dont mind the poopy-high ride height in these:

and in the rain....

again, the ride height is fixed (loooow)

Ride height update... DUMPED

And a random shot.

cheap and ricey, thug LYFE? really? ****, i spent all my money handbuilding the whole car, not on paint... guess im a ricer for taking a bare unibody and making it into a full car?

dont stereotype me into the "flat black dorifto awesome" crowd. thats like me saying that cars with nice paint are just show cars, a full breed of ricer to themselves. mine is literally handbuilt, not bought. i take great pride in my car, dont demean me because you dont understand me. ill give you the same courtesy

Flat black paint jobs do not depict rice. Big nasty wings, molded bodykits, distatefull color spray painted interior, and sometimes underglow lights scream rice. I personally stripped my car of all paint did all the body work, then stuck mad amounts of money into suspension and chassis parts, with a 40k motor and transmission, then painted my **** flat black. RICE ON!!!!!!!!!! Cause i would rather build my car instead of paint it.and this screams rice, dont you think

Just because you take pride in your car, doesn't mean that other people need to take aliking to it.

Your car looks like it is a project because of the paint. The average person is going to dislike it.

I also believe that flat black rattle can makes cars look like ****. Don't take person offense to it. To each their own.Even with well done rattle can jobs, I still think it looks like poop compared to any actual paint job.

It seems like everyone who has a project that's multi-colored paints their car 'flat black'.

LOL. You can't use that car as a reference to anyone in this entire forum. That's not a rattle can job, or a backyard paint job.

Thats a TRUE FLAT BLACK. Almost looks like vinyl.

flat black is so played out.

there are a few people who pull it off somewhat well, but ill just stick with my red coupe with a few black body parts on it until i can get it all painted NICELY. you know, gloss and whatnot.

dont use flat unless it's primer before the color.

Looks good IMO for a cheap paint job if the car is in need of it

i never once said anything about you specifically...in fact i didn't even think of your car and honestly, it would look MUCH nicer with a nice glossy white or black paint. but if u like it then no one's forcing you to change anything so no reason to get all butt hurt about it.

and yes, i don't think the general population can tell the difference between a flat black civic on cut springs with aftermarket wheels from a flat black 240 with coilovers and aftermarket wheels. it doesn't matter if you have "100k under the hood" or handbuilt it yourself it'll still look cheap like you can't afford a paint job. obviously i prioritize the look of my car more than performance and this is my opinion.

It seems as if there is a large difference in opinions on the whole "Flat black" paint job thing.

One thing i can not stand to see is segregation and separation amongst us on here. When we are all apart of the same family/team. Weather it be positive feedback or negative feedback to fuel the traffic of the wonderful NiCO forums EVERYONE is needed.

If it was someone from ZilVia that came over and started flaming all over NiCO naughts then most of you would be pushing right back side by side. So why argue and judge one another when you are in the same family/team?

In the tuner world i think it is VERY easy to dislike or judge someone by just the look of their car or even sometimes by the car they drive. V8 Mustang owners think their **** don't stink. 500Whp+ supra owners think their car is Gods gift to the world haha. Honda owners heads and ego are so pumped due to the sound of Vtech ( even though they are only going 30mph. Haha jk jk).

When the ultimate reality of it all is that. The cars life is determined by its owner. EVERY stock car to a tuner is a blank canvas. Some beauties are hidden some are seen right off the bat. How that canvas is painted ( painted being a metaphor for my narrow minds ^^) is all up to the Owner, the master, the pilot. Every car looks EXACTLY how its supposed to look until the owner/master/pilot/driver/tuner says it is completed. People are going to love and hate each others styles, BELIEVE IT.

Anyone who builds their car in accordance to just making others happy is not a tuner. Car owner yes tuner no.

A car will and always will look exactly what the owner wants it to in the end.

Anyways stop fighting guys!

One Love,

~Ghasty

^ You should run for president!

Anyways, the way I see it, flat paint jobs aren't meant to look "pretty" for the most part. If you get a top quality pro one like on the s15 above^ yeah it looks nice. But by that time you might as well have gotten a gloss job. Anyways, people don't paint their cars a flat/satin color to make it look "nice." Aside from being a cheap alternative to multi-color, it goves the car a more tough or beefy look. It isn't meant to look pretty and delicate. It's meant to take a beating and it doesn't matter if it gets dented or scratched because that just gives it character.

Whatever though, I agree with Ghast.

Btw, someone said something bout olive green satin jobs. IB4 sil8drftr.

this is nico. they are all project cars, save the 5% of niconauts whose car will always be 100% stock. but thats not why we are on here. we are here to mod, explore, and innovate. stock is not really an option here anymore.

sorry i snapped, and its not just cus of the flat black color of my car, its people generalizing it as a "cheap, tacky" thing. tacky is opinion, cheap is straight numbers. that car as it sits, no motor work and only half the suspension done is over $7.5k of my money, and built by me.

the thread is about flat black 240's. if you dont like em, comment away, but lets just not litter this thread with words. more pics.

ghast, when did you become buddha? i felt very peaceful after reading your post lol...

but "word" to what you were saying.

btw, the reason my car is the way it is, is because NOONE on here, zilvia, any forum, any anything has anything just like mine... and heck, i got big plans to change her to something entirely different soon... starting really soon

Nah man i could never hold myself higher then anyone else on this earth, We were all brought in the same and we will all leave the same. What we do with our time is up to us though. I just wanna live life and enjoy everything i have with everyone else.

BUT THANKS!

We wake up in the morning and take a dump in clean water in the toilet. There are people in the world who wake up and walk 10-12 miles just to get a few buckets of some slightly clean water to last them a couple days. I am very happy with what i have.

That is the color I am going for. It looks nice without looking like a rattle can primer-job. Any details on the color / code, etc?

Not an S13 but the color is nice as well...

Also, I have heard a professional job using BLITZ BLACK (from John Deere) can turn out really well.

Examples of "Blitz Black" (also not S13s, sorry):

Anyways, this is the color I am probably looking into. You can gather the materials needed for paint for under 100$ for the whole car. Paint around here from the J.D. dealership runs about 35$ a gallon.

i honestly think white primer is a better choice, and dont know why people dont do it. i see so many flat/primer cars but none are ever white primer. white primer doesnt look nearly as bad imo

since primer is very easy to mark up, since there isnt a clear coat, and the paint isnt a kind to "wipe clean", white primer would be HORRIBLE to keep clean. greasy finger prints, etc, would be stuck there and make it look even more trashy.
