If you want a good looking flat black then get a cheap paint gun and go buy some matte black and a flat cleat. It isnt that expensive or hard to just paint it yourself. I did this with a year of experience, a 100 dollar gun, a harber freight air compressor and a lot of time talking to an old guy at the paint store. lol. With paint, clear, primer, sand paper, and other misc stuff i've got about 350 in it.

Flat black looks amazing..IF its done right and not with a spray can like some people do. When its done right it does look awesome..but done wrong it looks ridiculous IMO. To agree about shelling out the extra few bucks for a glossy paint, more times that not it does look better and will get more attention/praise if that's at all what you're going for which I'm sure that a lot of us want people to look at our 240's and say **** that's nice. But like I said this is all my own opinion. Formulate your own and go for what you think will fit your style most

To be honest with you guys, to have a car professionally done in a flat, satin, or matte paint is actually more expensive than to have it done gloss + clear. It may not seem like it but there is a lot more prep work that needs to go into the flat/matte/satin job and the afterwork is more intensive as well, that's why they look so freakin badass when they are done professionally.

I'm going to go with a satin black on my S14.

Here is mine last week after we painted it (actual paint: acrylic enamel ). I posted a thread of it up ,I just got through wet sanding it yesterday for final smoothing .I will take picks later today of finished product. And my painter ITs all about the prep work .

Are you doing the door jambs and engine bay or no. I'm putting serious consideration on doing a satin black job on my S14 since I have a massive delamination issue. I'd rather have it spray gunned on and not do it the rattle can way as I need it to last a couple of years while I finish building the car. Once the car is done, I'm going to put a kit on it and respray it with a 2 stage midnight blue/black pearl.

Actually my engine bay is done in spray on truck bed liner front bumper area and fender wells ,I will also do the under side of the hood in the spray on truck bed liner to match . The rear hatch has been jammed . But im in need of another hatch due to rust . So when i get my new hatch im going to jam the doors that is all that is left. Heres a pick of the engine bay.

Above picture is satin black you can go to oreilly's buy a gallon of nasson black paint have them put an additive in it that will make it hold to the uv rays and not fade for less than 60.00 bucks so it can be done cheap , below is mine done with a flatt black paint i ordered off line for 63.00 shipped . Satin has a semi gloss finish which is what i really want . everything is over done there is only a few that have originality and when they do a lot of people hate on them for doing some thing original .There's all sorts of satin paints out there you just have to look .

in 08 I said it looked good for a cheap paint job. I still think it does, but flat black is still gay.

I agree im going to change it but other things are coming first .like some 17x9 in this next month and i want to do some more body work .(i rolled and pulled my rear fender and got the famous dimple on both sides ) And cheap well if i wanted to go crazy i would do some air brushing on it but i cant figure out anything i want to do on it . that i will keep but any how .
