:help I wanted to know what parts are out there to pull more horse power from the KA24DE!! I have looked and looked and I can not seem to find anythin very impressive!! If I have to I will go turbo, but for right now I want some ALL MOTOR power!! I am really tired of getting my butt kicked by the Sr20det!! I need some more power!! Please let me know what website that I go to or just some information from you guys!! I know to make big power I need to strengthen the internals, because from what i understand they are really weak!! I am just in need of lot more power!! Just let know what I need to do!!

You would have to do alot of mods to beat even a stock SR20DET. High compression pistons, cams, intake, header, exhaust, underdrive pulley, electric fans, short runner intake manifold. And thats just to beat a stock sr20det. If they turn up the boost and add a few parts you wont beat them with a NA ka24de.

Well please tell me where I can get some of these parts and then I can go from there and when the time comes I will just get the turbo so I can make the power to beat the Sr20Det!! I just need to know where to start and I need NA parts to start off with!! Can I please get some websites or something!!

Most of the big NA performance parts like intake, headers, and pistons wont even work when you go turbo. Use google to search for the parts there plenty of companies selling those parts. I have high compression pistons for sale for $75.

From the lack of responses I have come to the conclusion that this engine sucks and there are very few parts avaliable for it!! I have searched and searched, all I can find is intakes and little stuff that is almost useless!! I have even asked the Turbo KA guys and all they can say is put a turbo on it!! WOW what a good idea why didn't I think of that!! There is more to a turbo car then just putting a Turbo on it! Its not wonder I have never seen a KA when a race, not even against the lowest Honda!! I am almost ashamed to drive my 240Sx now!! I tried to stay with the engine that came with the car, but I can't get a response from any NA KA people so, it looks like I am going SR20DET!! :(

Intake/headers/flywheel/6puc/Nitrous...

-Nitrous is probably the only worthwhile gain out of all that stuff. I have those mods on my s13 w/ the stock KA, and she's ok for a daily driver. Safe enough to move around on I-4 traffic, but not fast enough to race for my liking...But then again, that's what my z31 turbo is for. Bring on the SR's :P

"I am almost ashamed to drive my 240Sx now!!" :aug2

-Grrr...your 240 is probably holding her head in shame right now. lol

the ka engine is way better than the sr... look on 240sx.org at the installs and look at the turbo ka, he put a simple turbo charger on the KA and only changed the fuel system... the sr comes with a turbo with 205 hp, the turbo ka ( all same bottom end) doubled with 284 hp... theres evidence that KA=King

yeah but you can put down well over 300hp with stock internals on an SR20DET. Your logic is skewed. And as for the original poster: I told you what you can do to your stock NA ka24de are you blind? Finding parts is not difficult. Search google for KA24DE cams and 240sx cams and you will find them. Search for KA24DE underdrive pulleys and you will find them. Theres no magic bolt on you can do that gives power so I dont know waht you expected us to tell you to do for SUPER ka24de NA power. You want high rev HP naturally aspirated go get a B18C5 dont whine about it to us. Then you say you went to the turbo forum and they just said to put a turbo on it and you had a problem with that? What did you expect them to say sprinkle it with magic turbocharging fairy dust? Youre ashamed to drive your 240sx and im ashamed to have someone so incapable of helping themself driving a 240sx.

Use your initiative and fabricate parts. Us KA owners are unfortunately not a profitable market, hence no parts.

Check out http://www.enjukuracing.com I buy alot of my parts from them lately and they seem very knowladgable and customer oriented. If you want to keep up with a stock sr, just throw a turbo kit on your car and you won't have any problems. I have the N-sport kit that I'm very happy with.

These things alone will put you down to low 14's.

Get the high compression pistons, get head ported and polished, 3 angle valve job. I was talkin to a guy who ran mid to high 13's with these mods on his KA.But for you why dont you sell your 240 and go buy a civic and throw some clear corners on it, then youll have MAD HP, im talkin 90 to the wheels, oh yea and a mugen sticker. Dont ever go on a all motor forum and make fun of the KA stupid.

There's as much stuff out there for the KA as there is for the SR. People are probably ignoring your post because it doesn't make any sense.

You can spend $3,000 to have a strong N/A KA, which is what you want, but for $3,000 you'd almost be finished with an SR swap. So you want to spend all this money to build a KA because you can't afford an SR, but it's gonna cost you more to build a KA than it will to switch to an SR.... that doesn't make much dollars and sense!

truthfully, it doesn't sound like you know what you want to do, or what you're doing at all! There's a lot of KA stuff available.. cams, pistons, headers, intakes, intake manifolds, exhausts, ECU's, flywheels, ring and pinions, clutches, cylinder heads, pulleys, cam gears etc... stuff is becoming more available than most people can afford to keep up with.

Sorry guys, i forgot you had companies such as Enjuku and JWT doing parts for your KA's.Here in australia, well....we've only got generic parts (ie MSD ignitions, piggyback computers etc) and headers....My cam was a custom grind based around 2 PDM grinds you guys get.

Whoa...not true.

All those mods will add up to ~160-165rwhp, and will get you barely out of the 15s if you can drive VERY well. Fastest N/A time I've seen is 14.7 @ 93mph. Other than that, no one else can break 15.0...

Quote »Get the high compression pistons, get head ported and polished, 3 angle valve job. I was talkin to a guy who ran mid to high 13's with these mods on his KA.
That guy's a liar. The high HP naturally aspirated KAs are making no more than 170rwhp, and one of the lightest S-chassis' is probably Russ in ATL at 2550...and 170rwhp and 2550lbs does not add up to any more than what I stated above.

To an extent, I agree.

Hey retard go look at the time slip of the N/A KA s14 that ran a 14.7 or so with the CIA, exhaust, headers, pulley and HOT cams out of a 91 240sx smart azz. It also depends on how well your motor has been taken care of. There is a s14 in my neighborhood who ran a 15.3 on his 1997 with just apexi n1 duals. His time slip and run is posted on Car domain. Maybe not on a s13 with high miles heck no those things wont run you good times. HA!!! and as far as the cams, go to http://www.pdm-racing.com and look at there REAL dyno, no computer enhanced stuff and look at the hp gains from the cams to the wheels. More than 10 to the wheels. And only 170hp N/A???? You MUST be new to this whole scene here. Your KA must really suck. Sorry to say but watch your mouth boy.

For the Time slip of the 14.7 go to http://www.240sx.org then go to the atlanta site. Click on members rides and look for a red s14.

Allright...I'll refrain from name calling 'cause that gets us nowhere.

Let me point out a few things here:

I know that guy personally - His name is Frankie, from NC - He has the ONLY S14 I've ever heard of to run a 14 N/A. He makes just over 160rwhp...he's just a damn good driver. And did you read my original post? That's the car I was refering to when I said "Fastest N/A time I've seen is 14.7...".

Man, that's ignorant.

Quote »...and as far as the cams, go to http://www.pdm-racing.com and look at there REAL dyno, no computer enhanced stuff and look at the hp gains from the cams to the wheels. More than 10 to the wheels.
Believe what you like. There may have been a 10rwhp gain, but over a VERY narrow range, or in one peak point...

Peak power means nothing - It's the area under the curve that will make a car fast. The PDM cams will make you lose so much low end that you won't be much faster in the real world.

Quote »And only 170hp N/A???? You MUST be new to this whole scene here. Your KA must really suck. Sorry to say but watch your mouth boy./
See, here's where you REALLY prove how ignorant you are. Damn...

I've had my S14 since ealry '97 - I was on the old Amarok List (from 240SX.org, way before these forums existed...it was the technical discussion 'forum' for enthusiasts)...

I ran an N/A KA for 5 years, making ~160rwhp. I've tried almost every product (or some variation of it) for the 240SX out there...including my own custom stuff.

Right now I'm running a KA-T, all custom built by me. Makes 224rwhp at ~6psi, and right around 250rwhp at 8psi...but that doesn't matter here.

What matters is that you seem to be some keyboard hardass that doesn't really know s***.

Have you ever been near a dyno, boy?

What all do you have done to your 240?

Where are all these +170rwhp N/A KAs hiding?

Show me some timeslips, or a dyno chart of ANY KA (without forced induction, nitrous, etc...in a streetcar - Not a Rebello motor) with more than 165rwhp.

In the meantime, read my website and maybe learn a thing or 2 before you start spouting off bullsh!t:

Now, call me the "bus driver", son... :D

IF YOU READ MY POST ABOUT BUILDING MY KA24E, THAT WOULD GET YOU WELL INTO THE 12'S AND MAYBE THE EARLY 11'S ON PUMP 93 OCTANE. WITH OCTANE BOOSTED TO RACING GRADE 116, YOU SHOULD HIT THE 10'S.

BUT I AM GOING TO RE-ENFORCE THE WHOLE ENGINE SO THAT I CAN RUN A 12+/1 COMPRESSION RATIO. MY GOAL WOULD BE A 13.5/1 BECAUSE I DOUBT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING I COULD DO TO THAT ENGINE TO MAKE IT HOLD MORE THAN THAT KIND OF PRESSURE.

Yes you can...stock internals have held more than the pressure generated by 13.5:1 static compression:

As you add boost, the effective 'compression ratio' goes up...

The formula is:

[(boost psi / 14.7) + 1] X compression ratio = effective compression ratio

So on a 9.5:1 DOHC KA, if you add .42bar of boost (6.1psi) you get an efective compression ratio of 13.5:1. Stock internals have held up to 18psi, but more like 12-13psi daily driven, which is effectively ~17.5:1. So it can be done...

Read here for more (it's about supercharging, but boost is boost with respect to compression ratio):

Ok "bus driver" since thats probably what you are....How many times am I at a track? Its a STREET car, I could care less about low end, most of my races are from a role, not at the lights. And as far as what I have on my 240, exhuast, headers, intake, fans, hot cams (getting stage 2), b&m short shifter, spec 2 clutch. Now the 14.7 240, I didnt say ANYTHING ABOUT HIS HP! I really dont care how much he has, if your car is running 12's with 100 hp, wouldnt you be happy? Its the times im worried about. Notice in all my post I talk about times, cause HP varies in all motors depending on the condition of them. All I was saying is you can hit 14s pretty easy with some simple mods Sorry bout callin you names, keep it simple though in your post, we dont feel like reading dictionarys. Just leave it

Good enough. I was only trying to point out that of the handfull of N/A S14s running around with 160rwhp or more, only one has run 14s that I know of, and I follow this stuff pretty closely.

With the mods you have, you should be in the 150-160 range, and able to run low 15s. If you, or anyone else driving your car, runs a 14, come back here and brag to all of us - That's an accomplishment.

Otherwise, let's try to keep it correct so we don' have the newbs coming on here and reading that they can run 13s (or even 14s)in thier N/A 240SX with a bolt-on modified KA...
