A landcruiser the bomb???? You are kidding right?

My very first vehicle was a '79 FJ Landcruiser. It was military brown with a white top. You want to know a "TRUE" Landcruiser find one of those things (that has been taken care of of course). I dare you to tear that thing up offroading.

The landcruiser's of today and that pathetic new Toyota FJ are merely cheap imitations of what was once a truly great offroading machine. My onlu regret is I didn't keep that thing forever.

The 2006 BMW 5-series and Mini Cooper plus the Infiniti G35 and M45's were rated the top value holders for 2006 by kbb. Any additional value drop via the G35 coupe today would probably be attributed to the release of the G37.

True, but the really sad part is, the 06+ G35 value are the same as the 03.....

so basically, the 03 has a good resale value while the newer 06+ has a horrible resale value... They are going for the mid 20's and even lower...

Year of the cars make very little change in value, it's always the Model Generation that is always the price gap.

Not sure when my thread changed to focus purely on Infiniti.... don't think I stuck the name in there in the first place. Maybe I did, but that wasn't my intention.... my bad.

The truth of the matter is that a luxury line probably has a BETTER chance of holding it's value so I got that going for me.

I'm just a dumb faq since I bought the car and have been "thinking" about other cars lately. I was just throwing around hypotheticals in my head wondering what I could do with the "value" of the G. My shock was that the G didn't have the "value" that I thought it did.Yeah, I should keep my G.... blah blah blah. As my friend refers to me, I'm a "car whore"; what can I say.As it sits right now, I'm keeping it though.

You did stick Infiniti in the thread title...unless that was after the fact.

Anywho, just saw an article in CNN Money that the G37 is one of the top 10 cars that hold their value the best in five years (expected 52% or losing 48%). Now this may have been the case with the G35 until the G37 came out, which drops the price on the G35 (new and used) because people now want the G37 (new or used) which was mentioned before.

As for Ferrari and such, although the amount lost in terms of actual numbers is more, as a percentage a Ferrari holds its value much better (say 10% compared to 20% for the G...random easy numbers, no clue on actual numbers).

Keep in mind depreciation on anything new is bad. Depreciation will be high the first few years, slowing down each year until finally becoming flat. Try selling any of your new home appliances (TV, fridge, etc) for close the retail value at new two years down the road...not gonna happen.

Glad i bought my 03 six speed sport package with only 39k miles for 23k out the door.

And i know i can never afford for a brand new car. And if i have the money i wouldnt still. lol. Rather slap that money into a house where i can invest and make that money, than losing money investin in a car.

I got my 03 G35 Coupe 6mt (Black) with 45k miles for 24k about a year and a half ago... Now I still owe about 20k and the value is about 20k

I don't see this car dropping much below 14-15k for maybe another 3 - 4 years and by then i'll have it paid off.. I'm pretty happy since I have never been very far upside down with it so far. (Example: s2000... 8 years old with 80k miles and it still sells for 14k..)

To bad I put so many miles on it... I'm going to be over 100k miles on the next year When I blow the engine in a few years i'll just swap in a new one.. maybe from a G37

Anyway! my point is that sports cars are better at holding value then grocery getters. just look at the 240SX! I got my 240sx new in 1990 for $10,000 out the door... a good condition 240 still sells for 3k so that equals only $32 per month for the 18 years I have had it
