Quote »Im totally with Lou, oil is cheap, so why not be safe?[/quote]And I'm not safe? Guarantee once again, my Q is EASILY on par with ANY other Q on this forum or otherwise. Very few people I've ever met are more meticulous with their cars than I am. I am freakin' anal about them, I love them, and do what I believe to be the best for them. Changing Amsoil 3 or 4 times a year is throwing money down the drain, plain and simple.

amsoil touts itself better than other premium brands based on inhouse tests, and their famous"4 ball wear test" which is designed for gear oil....not motor oil also they have a financial interest in "oil analisers" lab that does oil analysis.... of their oil? can you see any conflicts of interest there? I am not a fan of this brand for the above reasons, and the fact that anyone can become a "dealer" of their products for about $ 20.00 then get your neighbor to become a dealer and earn commission of all their sales, etc just like tupperware, mary kay, amway, etc google "best oil" and watch the thousands of greasy fingered "amsoil reps" sites pop up,like little oil prostitutes! thanks, but I will stick with Redline, bought from authorized, intellegent gear heads!

And I'll stick with Amsoil, bought from my mechanic. I used Redline and it's still in my Trans, but that's only because I got cases of it for FREE.

I think vitamins are a joke, I get all the nutrition I need from McDonalds.

I agree with that, but I don't think anyone is suggesting you change a high OCI at normal intervals.

Conducting regular oil analysis is the only way you really know how well your oil is holding up. Doesn't matter what brand or viscosity you prefer, if you don't have the analysis data, you're just guessing.

Having multiple data points derived from a series of oil analyses, interpreted by someone who understands lubricants, can show trend data which will help you to determine what your oil change interval should be. No two cars are the same nor are two drivers or driving conditions.

Don't take the mfr's word for it or the spin from a salesman or distributor. Generate your own data and make an informed decision. Your engine will thank you for it.

Which is exactly what I've done. Myself. I didn't mention, since someone pointed out that Oil Analyzers Inc has something to do with Amsoil so they might be biased, 1 of the samples I sent in was Redline, and it came back with almost the same results as the Amsoil. IMO, Redline, Amsoil, Motul & Royal Purple pure syn's are all about the same level, but I feel Amsoil is just that little bit better.

not sure I would rank royal purple in the same league as motul or redline- which both are true group 5 synthetic oils with a polyolester base, the best out there as far as basestocks go........

I use Blackstone Labs. They provide the levels of the various components of the sample and a narrative to advise/guide you. They are great and if you sign up with them through Dieselstop.com the anyalysis is $18.00.

Have a great day!Cliff

I have also used Blackstone labs numerous times and find them fast, friendly, and reasonable as far as costs-highly recommended.
