Hey AZ94Q.....make that 2 white russians and while you are at it pour me a shot of some Wild Turkey.

I can't believe my luck. This car of mine ever since I decided to keep it and mod it is cursed (sp???).

The condo that I own (bank owns) has a valet only policy as parking is limited on the beach under the condos since we are at sea level...enough about that issue as it costs over $25k to buy your own spot....

Anyway I get in my car tonight to run across the street to the grocery store (yes I am a lazy *** to drive less than 1 mile) and when I come out of the grocery store there is this huge dent in the rear drivers side corner of my car right next to the tail lights...a big 6"x6" dent that is about 3" deep going right up the side by my tail lights...so now the corner part of the car is now all bashed with a real nice yellow paint all over it....the condos garage posts are all yellow. Of course my valet tells me no...it was not me. Yeah right where the hell do you find yellow cars that can hit me that high up on the body of the car...Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghini (guy has a yellow 2003 model in the garage=sweet) that are cars sometimes in yellow are too low to hit my car in this area. So they say okay...it is our fault and we will make a report of it tomorrow in the morning. Uggh!!! these are the same guys that swiped my front bumper about 2 months ago and I got $300 for that one. I know that this is going to be about $1,000 becuase the dent is huge, right in the body of my freakin car and they will have to blend in the paint. Well I was going to have the car repainted anyway this summer...now it looks like I will have another $1,000 towards a paint job.

Any advice on dealing with the valet claim. I am sure that they are not going to fork over $1,000 easily. The $300 bill was a little difficult, but not too bad.

Ahh this Black Label on the rocks feels soo good right now to calm my nerves...I am going to get another.

I've dealt with similar situations..

I dunno if your building uses a valet company or an individual..

I would go get a full assesment and repair bid from a body shop tomorrow. I would then use this to demand full repayment for damage, in case they try to shaft you with a small payment.

I'm not sure if you have a lawyer, but I would have him outline a complaint letter threatening a lawsuit. If you don't have a lawyer, there are plenty of cheap pre paid legal companies, who can draft a nice letter for you.

If the building uses a valey company, complain to the board management, and threaten legal action.

That's totally ridiculous, that it happened twice.

If it's a valet company you should talk to them directly, after talking to your condo board.. If the company is big enough and you do enough harrassing and threatening, you should have no problem getting the repair bill payed. Don't let them give you anything less then what the damage is valued at by the body shop..

No point in being nice, since it's happened more then once. Time to get hostile.

Thanks for the advice...I am now drinking a Margritta....well it is 5 parts tequilla and one part mix. Nice and strong to kill the pain before I kill the valet guys.

We use a valet company and they are insured for such claims. This will be my third claim with them and I bought my condo here last August. First claim was my radio antenna...somehow ended up shaped like the capital letter "c" as the pulled up my car and now these last two incidents. After I get them to admit fault..payment is quick and I have to sign a release of liability/fault letter in acceptance of payment. But for this one, I am sure that it will be a bit more difficult as a $1,000 is never over looked easily. Just the key mark alone was $700 2 years ago to fix and it is right next to the dent so I am sure that this will be $1,000 or more as I am taking it to Infiniti's recommend body shop so they can't b_tch about the estimate.

BTW...I am on the finance board of the condo and believe me the parking board will hear about this one as I can't be the only one with this problem. Maybe I will just take out a home equity loan and buy a $25K+ parking spot with a secured private garage entrance.

That's interesting how they do the parking layout..

I have never heard of an arragement like yours for the towers in AZ..

Usually you get a free spot with the building purchase. Additional units will cost extra..

Of course Miama is 10000000% pimper then AZ, so it's of no suprise they can charge 25k for a parking spot... I can't believe they didn't include one with the unit it's self.. bastards.

I spent 6 years of my prime, single life in MIA, 90-96. I was with the group that effected the Southeast Bank, Coral Gables Federal, Hollywood Federal, etc, etc, bank mergers.

Yes, in a previous life I bought banks for a living. Not as romantic as it sounds, but I got to raid the carcass of one of the most beautiful buildings, the tallest building south of the Mississippi circa 1984. The Southeast Bank Building. Adorned with more of the baddest a$$ furnishings from Florence Knoll Bassett than the law allowed......literally.

Why I decided to pursue a living in automotive performance, parts sales & service is a mystery to me. I downshifted at 30 for no good reason other than I wanted to.

Spent a good deal of time there in Atlantis, on Brickell Ave, in Manuel Noriega's old apartment.

No $hit.

Also spent one very scary night there August 23-24th, 1992, following a day listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers performing at Lollapalooza from atop the roof of the 53rd floor of 201 South Biscayne Blvd.

I'll never do a Cat 4-5 again, with sufficient warning.

Ahhh, MIA, I miss you....you 8itch.

I can see the Atlantis condo from my office in Brickell and I almost bought there....sometimes I wish I did after dealing with these valet guys as they have no valet issues

I know what you are saying about Hurricanes...it seems that Cat ! or 2 that nothing really major happens and all the $****ty structures or weak trees break, but when you hit CAT 3 or higher all H-ll breaks loose and $hit just starts snapping everywhere. It is like the 125mph wind barrier...anything above 125mph $hit just snaps and breaks.

I also almost bought a condo that was on the set of Miami Vice on Brickell Key, but decided against it...it was still way too much Miami Vice...very nicely and professionally done, but it was either a "love it" or "hate it" thing as neon lights were everywhere
