My return is already back to me. In fact it was about a month ago. :fistpumping:

It's also already spent.

Yea I'm getting roughly $1500 back. So excited. Gonna pay off all my debt, and then start seriously looking to buy a Frontier.

I'll need a NICO sticker for it, obviously. Weren't there "NICO rescue truck" stickers a while ago? I wonder if Bex has any more of those.... I would really like one of those on it.

You guys should adjust your withholdings. You just gave the US gov a fatty interest free loan. If you've got extra cash like that laying around, I'll gladly take it from you, earn some interest for myself, and pay you back the exact amount you gave me a few months later.

I withhold quite a bit already. I didn't make a ton of money last year anyway, so the 1500 back is really good for me....I think.

You should realize I was unemployed this past year and would study up to know that the first $2500 of my unemployment insurance earnings were tax free. :poke: :poke: AND they didn't tell us about it until later.
Also, a great portion of that was my MD state refund, which is always high no matter how you adjust it.
I know taxes, dammit.

Ideally you want to come out owing the government a small amount of money at the end of the year. That would mean they gave YOU the interest-free loan. You can claim as many exemptions as you want on your W4. Hell, I could claim 500 and the IRS wouldn't care at all. Though, if I did that, I'd owe a penalty at the end of the year that would negate the interest I could potentially make on the funds. I believe you need to have 90% of your taxes paid by the end of the year to not get penalized.

I only got a few hundred back, and I'm thinking about adjusting so I get less back next year. I'd be much better off just taking the extra money I would be paying in taxes and putting it into a even a low interest account. I still come out ahead in total money at the end of the tax period.

Sorry, shouldn't have lumped you in with the "you guys" comment. I understand it gets tough to plan for total taxable income when you're in between jobs or switching jobs. I guess I was just generalizing. I get pissed when people tell me they're getting like 4-5k back or whatever. I just want to shake them while yelling "do you know how much you could've made in interest on that money throughout the year?".

Dude, stop it already. I hate it when people turn personal taxes into a business venture.

Ok, I'll leave it alone now. I'm not a finance guy, just trying to offer a few pointers.

Are you trying to bait me into pissing people off? Won't do it! You can look up savings accounts/CDs/whatever easily enough on the webs.

My current job pays every Thursday. I thought it was weird when I started, but I kinda like it now.

Why is everyone meeting in Philly? To smell that fresh piss air? :uhhuh:

I guess you'd say the same about a place near your area too, huh...

I wish I could find a job at one of the British stores down here. I think it'd be pretty cool to work at one of those. Epic candy.

I would meet up in Philly, but it's on the opposite of Carlisle from my origin.

I have one NICO Support Truck banner left. (It's like the one on my truck and the Ian's HB). If you want it, I'll sell it to you.

It's not much but any positive return is better than none.
