Hey guys. I'm finally in a normal state of mind....lol.

My single cam is back to running reliably. The noise I heard at startup ended up not being the timing chain guides. It disappeared once I fixed the head. The question is now.....to turbo or not to turbo? hmmmm...

Also, any transmission experts around here? I need to get mine rebuilt. Ballpark price?

I really didn't figure it was. I don't understand why everyone flips out and sells their car every time they get a blown head gasket. Is there some sort of other damage that comes from a blown head gasket? 'Cause if there isn't, I wanna snag that Jetta and fix it.

I said it's not hard to fix; I didn't say it couldn't cause other problems. If ignored, it can cause your motor to vapor lock. Then you are screwed.

Yeah...I'm gonna keep on searchin'. I found a different Jetta today that was in good condish for 800 bucks. Sadly, when I called, it was already sold. Oh well. I'm gonna continue my search until I find something that is a great deal and hasn't been sold yet. I just REALLY don't wanna drive an automatic anymore. I feel like I have more control over the car when I'm driving a stick. Plus -automatics just shift at all the wrong times and I have no way to down-shift or up-shift if I need to.
