Take your time! I'm not trying to rush you or anything

If you get bored, look at the Home Theater deals thread in the Around the House forum...it's a neat thread Looney posts in a lot...

honestly? i'm looking to move out soon, to a land far, far away. car is like a ball and chain keeping me living with my parents for the next 3 years I am trying to make big life moves, time to live it up! (and not with a sweet car! LOL)

i also bought it, expecting to be making a bit more money than I am now. i could keep this up and keep the car, but i'd be just starting to save for a house at 28 years old, still living at home (In an inlaw apartment.... paying rent)... thats a bit unacceptable in my eyes.

are you planning to get a cheaper car once it has been sold?

living away from home w. a decent car > living away from home w/o a car > living at home w. car

i cannot not imagine myself living w my rents at this age... we do have a good relationship but it just wont work lol

I do live in a completely seperate part of the house, have my own kitchen, bathroom, living area, bedroom, etc. So its honestly not a bad deal, I just honestly wasnt expecting the economy crash to effect me so much. i havent seen a dime in 2 years, and i've moved up internally twice now. So financially, things arent working as i planned when i originally signed my car loan. and let me just state that yes, i should not have had that frame of mind when buying the car in the first place. was a mistake. i know.

if it works out that i need a car locally through the winter, i'm going to buy my dads 2000 buick centry LOL, 80kMi, hes owned and taken care of it the entire life of the car. i'm hoping i wont need a car locally this winter tho...

My uncle always says save cash and buy what you can afford. I'm mentally just like him now, because I screwed my credit up pretty bad when I was in college and I still haven't been able to recover from it and I really don't have much to show for it.

It's okay Gerry, I'm ditching my AC too.

Which, by the way, got a bit scraped up this weekend. Some jackass PULLING into a parking lot nabbed the rear of her. Like, wtf. Now my car isn't "Excellent" status anymore.

How much left did you have on your loan?

hey man mistakes are there to learned'di dunno living away from home is a lot of responsibility.Ive been living away from home basically since 19 yrs old but it can be a struggle sometimes.Bills after bills, having to cook every meal or take-out costs (which alot since i dont cook much), laudry, cleaning, etc.I hate responsiblities...if living at home isnt a bad deal (since its a seperate part of the house n home cooked deal n such) then i would take an advantage... but i dunno thats just me

Never said you were, but I should try to recover some of my costs sooner rather than later. But I need to check pricing on them used so I can hit a reasonable target. I do check out Looney's thread, but deals are no good for me. I end up blowing money when I shouldn't. BTW, I setup a Harmony 700 for my friend this weekend. It's even a pretty solid remote (less devices, no docking station and no touch screen LCD compared to the One).

I disagree here. I wish I would've lived with my parents a little bit longer. I could've banked so much money. Then again, I get along with my parents quite well.

I need to replace my front and rear fascias before I sell my car. Some biotch rear-ended me a few weeks ago.

see my post right above, i agree n disagree. it really depends on the situation. I tried to live back at home for 8 months...didnt work out. but i did save a whole bunch of money in that 8 months period

yeah i have a great relationship with my parents.

I just couldnt save anything substantial, and pay off my car at the same time. I cant be just starting my life savings at 28... thats an awful idea. Not to mention, I think i'm having a mid-20s crisis, i have the strongest urge to just pack up and move somewhere awesome. I'm single, have a degree, and with no car loan, i'll have nothing holding me back!

i almost feel the same way as you gerry...i don't have any loans holding me back but i still live with the girl, we got our own place but i think we are both moving back in with our parents when our lease is up at the end of may because both of our dads are laid off.

So i'll instead of having my own condo to do what i please i'll be back at home living with my entire family which now consists of 10 people with 3 bedrooms...yay! i get my living room floor spot back! woot!

instead of paying rent to someone else i'll be giving to my dad which is gonna help him pay the mortgage till he can possibly find another job or this damn recession ends.

The best part is that ill be saving because now i won't have to pay for electric, internet, cable, food.

There is always this too. I actually moved back with my parents about a year ago for a little while to help with chores and such around the house (my dad had surgery and was physically unable to do most of them). So I got to save a bit of money and repay them by doing the manual labor crap. Worked out well for everyone I think.

That doesn't make sense. It needs to be an iPod touch, not an iPhone. The iPad doesn't make phone calls, so it wouldn't make sense that it had phone guts.

I dunno, I'm still on the fence. If you can get magazine subscriptions for the magazines I read, I'll probably get one. I think it fits a very small niche that most of the 300k or so they sold aren't directed at. As a technology nerd, I definitely have a defined use for it, but it really comes down to the magazine/book content that will be available.
